Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Fear and the Darkness

I had been facing my fear for hours when suddenly, I heard a noise in the darkness. My heart skipped a beat, and I panicked, crying uncontrollably. This time, I could feel it crawling toward me, inching closer. It was terrifying, and I almost passed out. But if I fainted, I would die. I dragged myself across the floor, knocking into shelves and tables, hoping to draw its attention. Finally, I managed to climb onto the bed, groping around for something to defend myself, but there was nothing.

In my terror, I screamed out for Anna, but there was no response. No, it was getting closer to the bed now, it was almost here. Was I going to die? I hadn't even celebrated my 18th birthday yet.

Then, I suddenly remembered that strange but mysterious butler. I called out his name, "Dong Huyen!" but still, no answer. Desperate, I ran towards the door, remembering my escape route, but it grabbed my foot and dragged me down. It hurt so much, but I kept crawling toward the door, banging on it loudly, but no one opened it.

It was so close now, just one step away. It was too horrifying. It was crawling toward me... and then... bang.

Dong Huyen had returned. He was standing on the windowsill, shooting at the creature with precise aim, killing it instantly.

I didn't hesitate. I rushed towards him, throwing myself into his arms. He lifted me up effortlessly and shot the creature dead. I didn't dare to let go of him for even a second, but I noticed that he didn't push me away. He still held me close. But from the angle I couldn't see, he was grinning, a sly and dangerous smile.

He gently patted my back, calming me down before carrying me into the room and setting me on the bed.

I sobbed softly, "I was so scared... I'm so glad you came in time."

He just smiled, patted my head, and whispered, "Don't worry, little one. I'm here."

He rocked me gently in his arms until I fell asleep, but I wasn't truly unconscious. My small body felt weak and limp in his arms. He held me closely, then bent down and kissed my neck. I didn't know what that meant, though. Was it a dream or was it real? I couldn't tell, and soon, I forgot everything else.

The next morning, I woke up in a different room, feeling a strange sensation inside me—something that made me want to be closer to him, but I couldn't understand it. I opened the door and ran around the mansion, looking for him, but no one was there.

Suddenly, he appeared from behind and embraced me, asking, "Were you looking for me, Miss?"

I froze and turned to face him. My heart was racing, and I stammered, "What... what's happening to me?"

He held me quietly without saying anything, but I didn't resist. He had saved me, after all.
