Chapter 71 - Chapter 71: Uchiha Shinsuke never forgets his original intention

After thinking it over for a moment, Orochimaru decided he wouldn't use this method again in future transplant operations — at least, not without a full understanding of the next Uchiha subject.

He had no plans to risk it carelessly.

Although most Uchiha had notoriously strong pride, their sensitive points weren't necessarily all the same.

Assuming one trick would work on everyone was, in itself, a kind of arrogance.

Maybe the next Uchiha would actually enjoy that kind of humiliation — a true pervert.

Without more information, Orochimaru wasn't willing to make any assumptions.

As he pondered adjustments to the next transplant plan, the mutation inside Uchiha Shinsuke's body was gradually coming to an end.

From the Lamp God's point of view, the green chakra was now merging into the red chakra, fusing together under Shinsuke's control.

Shinsuke regained command over his body.

His expression was no longer blank — his crimson eyes were sharp and alive, his lips pressed tightly together.

The drool that had run down his chin had dried, leaving only a faint stain.

The most obvious change was in his lower abdomen.

The masses of writhing flesh had been absorbed back into his body.

The twisted jungle of granulation tissue disappeared completely, and his physique returned to normal.

The only visible mark left was a slight paleness in the transplanted area — no scars, no tattoos, nothing grotesque.

"Body temperature and heart rate have returned to normal.

Cell activity has increased by 1.9 times compared to before," Kabuto reported, checking the monitor.

Orochimaru nodded lightly.

After a successful transplant of first-generation cells, enhanced physical fitness and improved cellular activity were expected results.

And this wasn't even Shinsuke's final state — with proper training, those improvements would grow even further.

A sloshing sound broke the silence.

Now fully conscious, Shinsuke glanced at the pale green fluid that had been soaking him, his face twisting in open disgust.

He tried to stand up, eager to leave the tank behind.

He still wasn't sure whether what Kabuto had said earlier about the nutrient fluid was true — or just a provocation to enrage him.

Either way, now that the transplant was over, he had no desire to linger a second longer.

But Orochimaru stopped him with a hand on his shoulder, speaking calmly:

"The procedure isn't finished yet."

The first-generation cell inhibitors injected earlier were still active.

If left unchecked, they would soon cause widespread necrosis in Shinsuke's lower abdomen.

Now that the first-generation cells had been tamed, they no longer acted on pure instinct — but at the same time, they couldn't resist the effects of inhibitors anymore.

It was a necessary trade-off.

Hearing Orochimaru's words, Uchiha Shinsuke glanced at the light green solution still clinging to him, then lay back down with a face full of grief and indignation.

Orochimaru smiled slightly but didn't tease him further.

He calmly took out four syringes filled with antidote and injected them into Shinsuke's side at four different points.

Shinsuke looked at Orochimaru eagerly.

As soon as Orochimaru finished the follow-up treatment and announced the procedure was complete, Shinsuke immediately jumped up, grabbed his discarded clothes, and rushed off to the bathroom.

Orochimaru, meanwhile, pressed the drain switch on the water tank, leaving the cleaning and disinfection work to Kabuto.

Picking up the data sheets from the monitoring instruments, he began reviewing and organizing them in preparation for the next operation.

Kabuto — standing nearby — raised his eyebrows.

Although much of the data was incomplete or difficult to interpret, it didn't stop him from offering advice.

"I think you should prepare an instrument specifically for monitoring pupil power and its fluctuations," he said.

Orochimaru agreed.

This first-generation cell transplantation had made one thing very clear:

The Sharingan played an enormous role in the process.

It was evident now that chakra extracted from bloodline-specific organs like the eyes was of a much higher quality than chakra from other parts of the body.

The Sharingan truly lived up to its reputation.

However, what surprised Orochimaru was that even though Shinsuke was already an elite Jōnin with a well-developed Sharingan, the small-scale transplant had nearly killed him.

The first-generation cells, representing the so-called immortal body, were far more potent and difficult to tame than he had initially imagined.

Orochimaru fell into deep thought.

"It seems even Shisui's Mangekyō Sharingan may not be strong enough to support a full cell transplant," he mused aloud.

If even the original Mangekyō wouldn't suffice, then using transplanted Mangekyō — weakened even further — was absolutely out of the question.

The simplest path forward was looking more and more unworkable.

While Orochimaru was lost in thought, Shinsuke quickly returned from the bathroom — much faster than after the last operation.

He came to Orochimaru, bowed slightly, and said with genuine gratitude,

"Master Orochimaru, thank you for the operation!"

There was no need for outside tests; Shinsuke could already clearly feel how much stronger he had become.

"No need for thanks," Orochimaru replied. "Focus on stabilizing your condition first."

He raised an eyebrow.

"Over the next period, your strength will continue to rise. Make sure you report back regularly — there's still more data we need to collect."

Shinsuke clenched his fist tightly and replied with enthusiasm,

"Understood!"

He wouldn't forget — one of the reasons he underwent this enhancement was to help Shisui recover from his blindness.

Finding an empty spot, Shinsuke swallowed a few energy pills, sat down, and began meditating, working to restore the chakra and stamina he had spent during the procedure.

The recovery didn't take long.

Once he finished, Kabuto stepped forward to conduct a detailed body measurement.

"Tch..."

Leaving the measuring equipment, Shinsuke shot a bitter glare at the bespectacled boy — but chose not to act.

No matter what, Kabuto had indirectly helped him through the process.

Shinsuke wasn't someone who would repay kindness with cruelty.

He'd let it slide this time — but if Kabuto ever crossed him again, he wouldn't be so forgiving.

Unbothered by the animosity, Kabuto walked over to Orochimaru and began calmly reporting the results:

"Heart rate and body temperature have increased. Chakra reserves are up by 30%.

Additionally, it appears he may have partially inherited the First Hokage's regenerative abilities. About that..."

Kabuto adjusted his glasses coolly.

"If you'd like, you could dissect him to study the healing capacity firsthand."

"We'll set that aside for now," Orochimaru replied with a small shake of his head.

Instead, his gaze shifted back to Shinsuke.

"Can you use Wood Release yet?" he asked.

"Um..."

Shinsuke closed his eyes, concentrating carefully, then opened them with a sheepish look.

"I think I'll need to use a seal to assist. If I try it purely by instinct... I'm not sure what would happen."

"That's a simple problem to fix," Orochimaru replied casually.

---

Meanwhile, on the first floor of the medical facility, Uchiha Fugaku had been waiting anxiously.

The moment he saw Orochimaru, Kabuto, and Shinsuke emerge from the basement, a wave of relief washed over his face.

"Master Orochimaru, is the operation...?" Fugaku started.

Before Orochimaru could answer, Shinsuke stepped forward proudly:

"Patriarch, the operation was a success. I'm about to begin testing whether I can use Wood Release."
