Chapter 57 - Chapter 57: Sentinel Target: Robert! Rescue Mission?

It can be said to be a Power with as many variations as the Green Lantern Ring.

Having obtained this powerful Power, Robert was developing more and more towards omnipotence.

An ordinary human who obtains one of his Powers can become a Superhero.

He possesses countless Powers—terrifying ones!

In just a few minutes, Robert readjusted to his newfound strength.

At this moment, he had a mysterious feeling.

It felt as though someone was staring at him from behind, making him feel uneasy.

"It seems someone is targeting me again."

"Interesting... Let me see who it is."

"I might as well test out my new Power."

Robert smiled faintly and sat leisurely on his chair.

Chapter 48: Sentinel Target: Robert! Rescue Mission? [Seeking Fresh Flowers and Evaluation Tickets!]

Unlike the peace on Robert's side,

the Mutants at Mutant Academy were not faring well.

The battle between the forces behind the Sentinel robots and the Mutants had nearly broken into the public eye.

After capturing Mystique (Raven),

the forces behind the Sentinels became almost unstoppable.

Through research on Mystique's cells,

they created an incredible material that could perfectly replicate the Powers of Mutants.

After upgrading with this material,

the true nightmare for Mutants was born.

Compared to the first-generation Sentinel robots, which could initially mimic and use the abilities of Mutants and resembled Iron Man armor,

the second-generation Sentinels were more powerful and intelligent.

Their intelligence surpassed that of ordinary humans.

They could blend in with human society and detect the X gene.

Mutants had almost no way to hide among them!

If not for resistance from many factions, including S.H.I.E.L.D.,

they might have already initiated a full-scale cleansing operation against the Mutants.

On the surface, they were restrained,

but secretly, they continued with covert operations.

Many small Mutant factions were being systematically wiped out.

A large number of Mutants were captured and locked up in labs.

According to intelligence from Mutant Academy,

they had even begun using Mutant genes to develop biological weapons!

Extremely insane—utterly inhuman!

Mutant Academy was still standing only because it had gathered many powerful Mutants.

But to rescue their fellow Mutants,

they had gone through countless battles.

The mood at Mutant Academy had grown increasingly somber.

The usual laughter and joy had disappeared.

Many of the original students were now helping adults treat the wounded.

Charles walked through the corridor, observing the drastic changes,

his heart filled with both anger and concern.

Yet, as the leader of Mutant Academy,

he could not reveal his inner turmoil.

He wore a smile to keep the students calm.

Only when he entered the conference room and saw the X-Men assembled did his expression turn serious.

"Erik, how is it?" Charles asked.

Magneto had recovered after treatment at the Academy.

In fact, he had gained strength through the ordeal—his Power not only restored but enhanced.

However, his expression remained grim.

"It's not optimistic. There are just too many of them,"

Magneto replied in a hoarse voice.

If it were only one Sentinel, or even hundreds,

Mutants wouldn't consider them invincible.

Sentinels were formidable, but not unstoppable.

The real issue was the overwhelming numbers.

A Mutant dies, and that's the end of it.

But Sentinels? Kill one group, and another is created.

Worse, they could salvage materials from the destroyed ones and reforge them!

The Mutants were being consumed by attrition.

They were fighting an immortal army.

In just a few days, dozens of combat-capable Mutants had fallen.

This was a devastating loss.

Only the most powerful Mutants remained—

the original X-Men, Magneto's elite followers,

and new allies like Nightcrawler, Blink, Gambit, and several other high-level Mutants.

The rest were children being sheltered by the Academy.

Once a proud race filled with elite warriors,

the Mutants were now reduced to a desperate handful.

The Sentinel robots, built specifically to counter them,

were horrifyingly effective.

Charles's heart sank, but he remained firm.

"We must persevere."

"I've already requested outside assistance."

"Nick Fury has agreed to help us."

"We should be able to identify the mastermind soon."

"Once we locate their manufacturing base, we can eliminate the threat!"

Erik's eyes burned red with fury.

"This is all Sebastian's fault, that idiot!"

"He not only leaked the secret of the helmet but also created a traitor!"

"Otherwise, you'd have resolved all of this!"

Though Professor X couldn't fight Sentinels directly,

he was extremely effective against humans, especially those with thoughts.

Using the Cerebro (Mind Wave Amplifier),

he could even annihilate human minds.

But the mastermind had planned meticulously.

They had not only acquired helmets like Magneto's but also employed telepaths to shield them.

As a result, Professor X couldn't unleash Cerebro's full potential to decide the war in one stroke.

"Since what's done is done, pointing fingers is useless," Charles said.

"We must locate their factories immediately."

"Gather as many allies as possible and rescue our comrades."

Magneto nodded in agreement.

At that moment, an urgent voice rang out:

"Not good, a large number of Sentinels are converging!"

"They're about to attack a Mutant refuge!"

Scott entered with the other X-Men, his tone grave.

Immediately, the room stirred into motion.

The X-Men quickly began forming teams to intercept the Sentinel force.

"This refuge has over sixty Mutants," Scott continued.

"Many of them are children and elderly Mutants. We can't let it fall."

Alanna stood up. "I'll lead a squad with Rock and Seraphina."

"We'll delay the Sentinels long enough for an evacuation."

"I'll go too," Fleming added.

"My Powers work well in large-scale suppression. I can buy us time."

Eowyn, analyzing the coordinates on a nearby tablet, said,

"The refuge is just outside city limits. There's dense terrain that could aid our ambush."

"Good," Charles nodded.

"Use the landscape to your advantage. Focus on the rescue—do not engage unless necessary."

"Understood!" the group replied in unison.

Meanwhile, Ryan sat silently at the back, his eyes closed.

But as tension mounted, he opened his eyes, revealing a faint glow.

"I'll support from the rear. If necessary, I can counter their cloaking field."

Outside, Robert was observing the chaos unfolding through a screen.

"So, the Sentinels are pushing their attack again," he muttered.

"I suppose it's time for me to lend a hand."

With a flick of his finger, his surroundings began to distort.

He vanished from his seat and reappeared midair, above the refuge targeted by the Sentinels.

From this vantage point, he could already see the shimmering outlines of the incoming machines.

His eyes narrowed.

"Let's test what my new Power can really do."
