The carriage ride to Lady Amara's estate was quiet.
Isadora sat beside Celeste, the bracelet secured in a small velvet pouch on her lap. Every bump of the road made the metal within shift against the fabric, a reminder of the reason for their visit. Outside the window, the world rolled by in soft shades of green and gold, yet Isadora barely noticed.
Her thoughts kept drifting to Lucien. Did he drink the tea? Did he notice she was there? Was he… alright?
"Isadora," Celeste's voice broke into her thoughts gently. "You seem distracted."
She gave a small, apologetic smile. "Just thinking."
Celeste studied her knowingly, then reached over to pat her hand. "We'll find answers today. Focus on what matters most now."
Isadora nodded, tightening her hold on the pouch.
