Chapter 82: Dance of Lightning in the Blizzard
The blizzard screamed.
Lei Feng dashed forward, his boots crunching on the frozen ground. He weaved between sharp ice daggers and streaking frost arrows. The battlefield had changed from chaotic to deadly. Every breath felt like swallowing broken glass, and each movement left a shimmering trail in the air that froze instantly.
The first snowman lunged at him with a twisted grin carved on its frosty face.
CLANG!
Lei Feng's sword clashed against its icy dagger, sparks of lightning snapping across the blade. The snowman hissed as steam burst from its body. Lei Feng twisted low, slicing through its belly in one clean motion.
The snowman crumbled into a harmless pile of snow.
But there was no time to rest.
The second snowman came from above, leaping high with glowing ice eyes. Lei Feng stepped aside, twisted midair, and countered, his blade humming with power.
Lightning Pulse!
A shockwave burst from his sword, blasting through three snowmen at once. Their bodies evaporated into steam, leaving the battlefield shrouded in swirling mist.
He exhaled slowly, watching the mist dance around him like ghostly spirits.
"They're getting smarter... working together," Lei Feng muttered as the remaining snowmen circled him.
"This is going to be tougher than I thought... I'm being forced to use more of my skills," he thought to himself.
Suddenly—
TWANG—SHHHHHK!
An ice arrow sliced through the fog, grazing his cheek. If he had been even a moment slower, it would have gone through his skull. In the real world, that meant death; here, it meant instant failure.
Above him, on the shoulders of the ice giants, the Frost Goblins finally joined the fight.
They whispered in an eerie ancient language, their voices thin and sharp, before unleashing another volley. Dozens of arrows lit up the air, falling toward him like a deadly rain of stars.
Lei Feng's eyes narrowed.
Storm Shield—Manifest!
A dome of crackling lightning formed around him. Arrows slammed into it, bouncing off like hail on iron. He crouched, watching and waiting.
Then—massive movement. The ice giants stomped forward, shaking the frozen ground.
The ground cracked under their weight.
Lei Feng knew he couldn't stay still. He dashed to the side, just avoiding a giant ice club that smashed down like a meteor.
BOOOOOM!
Shards of ice exploded everywhere, one cutting into his shoulder and drawing blood. He gritted his teeth and rolled forward, his body glowing with flickering light.
"Alright then..." he whispered, locking onto his targets. "Time to finish this... my way."
He sprinted straight at the first ice giant.
The giant roared, raising its arm to crush him. But Lei Feng vanished before the blow landed.
Lightning Flash!
He reappeared behind the giant's neck, his sword glowing with pure lightning. A low hum shook the air.
Lightning Strike!
His sword stabbed deep into the giant's neck. Lightning tore through the creature's body, frying its nerves, breaking its frozen muscles, and melting through its icy shell.
The Frost Goblin on its shoulder screamed and jumped away, but it was too late.
KRAAA-KOOOOOM!!!
The giant exploded into chunks of ice and sparks of lightning, raining debris across the battlefield.
One down.
Before the others could react, Lei Feng moved again. He struck like lightning, his eyes fierce and wild. In a single blur, he beheaded three Frost Goblins, their heads vanishing into the snow.
THUUUSH.
Lei Feng paused, steam rising from the snow under his feet. He breathed heavily, a faint smile curling his lips.
"Hah... hah... I could do this all day. But I don't have that kind of time!"
He dashed forward again. But this time, the Frost Goblins were ready. Their eyes glowed as they fired arrows shining with a new, deadly light.
Whoosh!
Arrows rained down like a meteor shower. Lei Feng's eyes sparked with lightning as his figure blurred. He weaved through the barrage, laughing.
"Hahaha! This is fun!" Lei Feng shouted, his voice echoing through the storm.
But then—
BOOOOOM!
A huge blow struck him from behind. One of the remaining giants had sneaked up and smashed him, sending him flying. He crashed into the snow, tumbling like a broken doll.
"Urgh!" Lei Feng coughed up blood. "Damn it... it must've crept up on me while I was focused on the goblins..." His vision blurred. Through the haze, he saw deadly snowmen closing in. The two remaining ice giants marched forward, their steps booming like war drums. The last four Frost Goblins steadied, arrows ready.
"Damn it!" Lei Feng cursed, struggling back to his feet. He gripped his sword tightly, blood dripping onto the snow.
---
In the monitoring room, Leo stared wide-eyed, sweat streaming down his face. "Unbelievable. If nurtured, this kid will definitely surpass S Rank one day," he whispered, fists clenching.
"But..." Leo's eyes narrowed. "We must be patient. This test has already gone beyond C Rank... but orders are orders."
"Synthia, initiate the warning," he said sharply. But then he paused, watching the screen with burning eyes. "Lei Feng... I can tell you're still holding back."
---
Back in the Glacial Forge, time seemed to stop. A bright red interface appeared in the air.
WARNING!!! WARNING!!! WARNING!!!
What the hell? Lei Feng froze, his brow creasing.
Participant has sustained injuries. Immediate withdrawal advised. Test cleared regardless of final outcome. Synthia's robotic voice echoed in the air.
"As if!" Lei Feng snapped. "What do you mean 'injuries'? You think a single punch is enough to stop me? I'm not leaving until I finish every challenge you throw at me!" he roared.
Ding!
Indomitable Will Activated.
> Host's mental and physical resilience greatly increased.
A wave of energy surged through Lei Feng. Pain vanished, replaced by a wild power flooding every cell in his body. His strength, speed, and focus shot up like never before.
Lei Feng smiled. "Indomitable Will... it's been a while since I felt this power." Lightning crackled through his veins, his eyes burning.
"Alright... let's end this. Lightning Flash!"
He vanished, appearing in front of the snowmen. With a single swing, they fell like butter under a hot knife.
Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!
Arrows rained down, but Lei Feng didn't retreat. He dodged while charging forward, cutting through arrows he couldn't dodge with ease.
An ice giant charged, two goblins firing arrows from its shoulders. It moved so fast, almost impossible to avoid.
OmniGod Eyes! Lei Feng's eyes glowed. The world slowed, every detail crystal clear. He focused on the giant's chest—and saw it. A glowing blue core.
"So that's your weak point!"
He grinned coldly. He pulled back his arm and threw his sword like a spear. It moved so fast, surrounded by crackling lightning.
Whoosh.
A loud punch of air and the sword pierced through the giant's thick armor, striking the core.
CRACK!
A crack appeared in the giant's chest. It slowed, but more cracks spread quickly.
The Frost Goblins jumped off, landing on the last giant. Almost instantly, the first giant shattered into a thousand icy pieces.
---
"What... just happened?" Leo whispered in shock. "Where did this insane power come from?"
Leo narrowed his eyes. "He's still not done... but now that he's weaponless, let's see what he does next."
---
On the battlefield, only one ice giant and three goblins remained. Seeing Lei Feng weaponless, their confidence rose. They howled, their fighting spirit soaring.
"Haha! You really think I'm helpless without my sword? You underestimate me too much!" Lei Feng shouted.
Lightning Chains!
Bolts of lightning shot from his hands, wrapping around the ice giant like whips.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Lightning exploded everywhere they hit.
"It's not enough to destroy you... but it gives me what I need."
[Stun Effect Activated]
BOOM! Lei Feng shot forward like a thunderbolt. Lightning wrapped around his fist as he smashed it into the giant's chest with immense force.
The punch drove deep, lightning burning through the ice, cracking the core inside. The giant froze for a moment, then cracks split across its whole body.
Lei Feng landed lightly in the snow. With a smooth step, he picked up his sword. "Alright!" he said, grinning wide as the giant crumbled, its shattered body turning into mist.
Ding!
You have invented a new skill: Lightning Punch.
Active Skill — Lightning Punch (Rare):
Launches a super-fast punch charged with concentrated lightning energy, dealing massive external and internal damage. Can pierce armor and shock organs directly.
"Wow! A new skill! It's been a while since I created one... Now I have two self-created skills: Lightning Pulse and Lightning Punch!" Lei Feng shouted in excitement.
Swoosh!
An arrow shot through the mist, aimed between his eyes.
Snap!
Lei Feng caught it and snapped it in one quick move. His eyes narrowed. "I've played around long enough. Time to end this..."
ZAAAAP—ZZZZAAAAK!!
He moved.
A lightning bolt given flesh, he shot forward. The last Frost Goblins didn't even have time to scream. His blade cut through them with terrifying precision, heads falling before their bodies could collapse.
Lei Feng stood amidst the storm, snow drifting around him like ash after a great fire. He exhaled deeply, lightning still crackling softly over his skin.
A slow, wolfish grin spread across his lips as he raised his gaze to the heavens, his sword resting casually on his shoulder.
"Test or not... no one can stop me," he said calmly, as the last echo of thunder faded into the frozen battle field.
