Chapter 60 - Chapter 60: Dio Isn’t Really a Bad Kid

This is the world of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 1: Phantom Blood—the origin of everything, the beginning of the century-long entanglement between Dio and the Joestar family.

After arriving in this world, Yamcha sought out the family of the young girl Erina Pendleton, claiming to be "Harry Potter," a distant relative from the Potter branch of the Pendleton family.

His appearance was fake, his identity was fake, his background was fake—everything was fake.

At first, the Pendletons didn't want to recognize Yamcha as a relative, but as it turns out, with enough money, anyone can be family.

He even spent money to buy a knighthood title from Queen Elizabeth.

And so, under the alias "Harry," Yamcha naturally became a distant relative of the Pendleton family.

Erina Pendleton is the wife of Jonathan Joestar, the first JoJo, and the grandmother of Joseph Joestar, the second JoJo.

Although she doesn't possess any special abilities, her fame is no less than others in the series.

By the way, Erina Pendleton is also the great-grandmother of Josuke Higashikata from Diamond is Unbreakable, a world Yamcha had previously visited. Their timelines are over a hundred years apart.

However, for Yamcha, who can freely travel across different fictional works, visiting Part 4 before Part 1 is no big deal. They're not even the same world.

This is the power of Yamcha's ability to "break the fourth wall." While he can't manipulate the timeline of a single world (he can only move forward, not backward), he can choose to enter parallel timelines.

He put in so much effort this time because he was interested in one thing—Hamon.

It's a power featured prominently in Parts 1 and 2 of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure that later faded into obscurity.

Hamon is a technique that, through a special breathing method, strengthens blood and cells, generating ripples within the body to enhance physical strength—even resisting aging.

Lisa Lisa, Joseph Joestar's mother, was in her fifties but looked like she was in her twenties.

Besides all that, Hamon has another bonus effect—it mimics the properties of sunlight.

Compared to the wide variety of bizarre, flashy, and near-infinite Stand powers introduced starting in Part 3, Hamon might seem overly simple.

Thus, after Part 2, the author seemed to have forgotten about Hamon.

It slowly faded from the spotlight of the JoJo series.

But that doesn't mean Hamon is a weak ability. To Yamcha, it's no less impressive than any Stand power.

"Sir Joestar, it's been a long time."

Inside the beautiful Joestar manor, Yamcha leaned by the window and said.

"Yes, dear Sir Potter. The last time we met was seven years ago. I never imagined we'd meet again under such circumstances... cough cough..."

George Joestar, lying in bed, couldn't help but cover his mouth mid-sentence. As he pulled his hand away, it was stained with fresh blood.

Though only seven years had passed, the fifty-year-old George Joestar was in worse shape than most seventy-year-olds. His once-blue hair was now a full head of gray, and he looked like a candle flickering in the wind.

"Your 'illness' is quite serious, Sir," Yamcha said, emphasizing the word "illness."

"Yes... cough cough..." George Joestar didn't seem to catch the hint in Yamcha's words—or perhaps he understood perfectly and simply chose to play dumb.

"You know everything, yet you say nothing." Yamcha turned from the snowy landscape outside to face George Joestar in bed. "But Sir... is it really worth it?"

"I just couldn't bear to see that boy fall into ruin. If he ended up in prison, his life would truly be over."

As a savvy businessman in the import-export trade, how could George Joestar not know what was happening?

If he were really that naïve, the Joestar family would've long been destroyed.

Since Dio joined the Joestar household, countless things have happened. His little tricks had long since been seen through.

What's more, George had been corresponding with Dio's father, Dario Brando. The illness Dario described before his death matched George's symptoms exactly. Even a fool would realize something was off.

After all, Dio was just the son of a drunken thief.

No matter how precocious, he only knew how to use lowly and despicable means.

George Joestar genuinely treated Dio as his own son—that's why he indulged him.

Even if Dio wanted his life.

"You hope to awaken Dio's conscience, and ignite Jonathan's fighting spirit."

Yamcha paused briefly, then continued: "But Sir, have you considered... if you fail..."

Before he could finish, George Joestar interrupted, his voice resolute: "I believe in my son. He will inherit everything from me and become a true gentleman."

"And Dio…"

"That child's nature isn't truly bad."

Even Yamcha was stunned by George Joestar's words.

Calling Dio—the ultimate villain, the "savior" of all villains—a good-natured child... Yamcha had to admit: George Joestar was the ultimate gentleman.

Seven years had passed since the incident where Dio tried and failed to kiss Erina. Erina, Dio, and Jonathan were now all adults. However, Yamcha hadn't stayed in this world for the full seven years. Altogether, he'd spent less than a month here.

Using his ability to traverse worlds, Yamcha returned to this world at a later point in the timeline.

He couldn't yet do this in other worlds, but in the JoJo: Phantom Blood world, Yamcha could control his point of entry in time. The only downside was that he could move forward, not backward.

As George Joestar predicted, his son Jonathan Joestar noticed something suspicious and took away the "medicine" Dio brought.

Dio tried to get it back but was easily overpowered by Jonathan. Over the past seven years, Jonathan had trained his body and was now far stronger than Dio.

"Dio, I won't let you near Father again."

"Once I analyze this medicine, I'll make sure you're sent to prison."

"You damn patricidal bastard."

To save his father, Jonathan left him in the care of a professional team of doctors and went alone to the notorious Ogre Street to seek an antidote. There, he met a lifelong friend—Robert E.O. Speedwagon.

And found the evidence of Dio's patricide.

At the same time, a despondent Dio, after killing two drunks, discovered the secret hidden within the Stone Mask.

When blood touches the mask, it activates like a trap, with countless sharp stone spikes extending from it. When worn, the spikes pierce the skull and enter the brain.

But it's not a torture device—it transforms the wearer into a vampire, granting overwhelming power that surpasses all.

The only weakness? Sunlight.

That very evening, as night approached, Jonathan, accompanied by police officers, confronted Dio in the Joestar mansion.
