Chapter 54 - Chapter 54 – That Familiar Feeling of "Being That Guy"

The Red Ribbon Army is currently the largest organization on Earth in the Dragon Ball world. Its military might even surpasses that of the official royal army.

Its leader, Commander Black, once said in the storyline that rather than wishing to dominate the world through Shenron, he preferred another wish, because with the Red Ribbon Army's power, conquering the world wouldn't be that hard.

The key is: it's comfortable under a big tree.

With the Red Ribbon Army, one can do many things.

As for the army's evil deeds—

Hasn't it been the case that the people who have both the power and the duty to intervene… just didn't?

Isn't that right, Kami?

Right, Master Roshi?

Red Ribbon Army – Fire Mountain Branch

Aside from Lieutenant Leopard and his subordinates who were supposed to be here, there was now another group of soldiers with fierce expressions. Their more advanced equipment made it clear that this unit didn't originally belong to this outpost.

Standing at the forefront of this unit was a man appearing to be in his late 20s or early 30s.

Wearing a blue fur coat, short neat reddish-brown hair, chest fully exposed—

His well-defined eight-pack abs, combined with his handsome looks, made him fit perfectly into the trope of "overbearing CEO falls in love with me." Out in the world, he'd definitely trigger shrieks from girls everywhere.

This was one of the Red Ribbon Army's real powerhouses—General Silver.

Commander of the Silver Team.

"General Silver, he's here."

Led by Lieutenant Leopard, Yamcha met the man he'd heard so much about and admired deeply.

Though Leopard had hyped him up as an unparalleled powerhouse, Yamcha didn't really feel that impressed.

In fact, Yamcha really wanted to ask:

Isn't it hot?

This is Fire Mountain, the outdoor heat alone could make people faint, and yet this guy's wearing a coat?

"You're Yamcha, the one Lieutenant Leopard told me about? I heard your martial arts are impressive, that you defeated all the top fighters around here?"

General Silver was extremely enthusiastic. He was the most fond of martial arts among the generals and a master of all sorts of boxing styles. It was said that he'd reached level 20 in boxing, making his fighting technique the best in the entire Red Ribbon Army.

However, being the youngest general, he hadn't yet managed to gather a decent group of subordinates. So when he heard Lieutenant Leopard's report on Yamcha, he got very interested and made time to come meet him personally.

His dream was to form a special squad of martial arts experts.

"The Red Ribbon Army values talent above all else,"

General Silver said. "Interested in sparring with me a little?"

No matter how much you hear from others, seeing for yourself is always better.

And since this was a recruitment, testing his strength was obviously the top priority.

"Just so you know, I'm not like those people you've fought before."

Honestly… I can't really tell the difference.

Yamcha thought to himself.

General Silver gave him a vibe that felt… pretty much the same as those martial arts school masters he'd already beaten.

"Hahaha, alright then—let me show you a little of my power first."

Who knows what he was thinking, but General Silver signaled to his men.

They immediately understood, and shortly brought over a sandbag and a stack of bricks.

"Ha!"

With a low shout, General Silver punched the sandbag straight on. The thick bag was instantly torn open, sand spilling out from the hole.

Then, with another shout and a similar straight punch, he smashed through a stack of bricks.

By the time he pulled back his fist, the ground was covered with shattered tiles.

Ten of them in total.

"Amazing!"

"That's General Silver for you!"

"He's so strong!"

The surrounding underlings showered him with praise.

Silver dusted off his fists and asked Yamcha, "So? What do you think?"

Yamcha:

Why do I feel like I've seen this before? Are you going to pull out your world champion belt too?

"…Hmm? Not bad."

Yamcha finally forced out a "not bad" after a long pause.

Truthfully… it was kinda weak. Like, really weak.

But General Silver misunderstood his expression and thought Yamcha was stunned by his strength. He comforted him:

"Don't worry, I'll go easy on you—you won't get hurt."

"…?"

Are you serious right now?

In a way, Yamcha was shocked.

This guy is supposed to be the top fighter in the Red Ribbon Army?

Even the weakest disciple at the Flowing Rock Crushing Fist dojo was better than this.

"Bro,"

Lieutenant Leopard patted Yamcha's shoulder: "Don't worry. General Silver has great control."

"???"

Forget the clueless underlings, even you can't see it?

Alright… guess you're just as blind.

Seeing that Yamcha still hadn't answered, General Silver looked disappointed.

Seems like he's not the prodigy I thought he was.

"Fine, how about this—I'll let you punch me first, okay?"

"…???"

Silver continued, "Come on, hit me! Show me what you've got!"

"You sure about that?"

"Don't be scared! Come on, full power punch!"

I'm afraid if I do, I'll have to kneel and beg you not to die.

"What are you waiting for? You hesitating like a girl now?"

Alright—you asked for it.

Seeing Yamcha finally move, General Silver smiled.

If he's even half as good as I think, I'll make him a sergeant right on the spot—

But Yamcha's move completely caught him off guard. He couldn't even see how Yamcha had attacked. He only felt a sharp pain in his abdomen, like his insides were twisted together. He curled up like a cooked shrimp, clutching his stomach and collapsing to the ground.

Apparently, in the actual Red Ribbon Army arc, this guy challenges young Goku to a one-on-one fight and gets knocked out with a single punch.

Yeah, looks exactly like now.

And this was Yamcha holding back 90% of his strength.

Lieutenant Leopard: Σ(っ°Д°;)っ

Everyone else:

Silent. Dead silent. The entire base went still as death.

The legendary strongest hand-to-hand fighter in the Red Ribbon Army—taken out in a single hit?

Just as everyone was still in shock—

"Hahahahaha!"

Laughter erupted from General Silver, who shakily got back to his feet.

His subordinates tried to help him, but he pushed them away: "I'm fine! It doesn't hurt! Not at all!"

Looking at his tearful, twisted face, even Yamcha felt secondhand pain.

"No wonder Lieutenant Leopard recommended you! You really are amazing!"

More than the physical pain, General Silver was thrilled to have found such a powerhouse.

He was the youngest newly-promoted general in the Red Ribbon Army, with few capable subordinates and an unstable position. If the higher-ups needed someone to sacrifice, he'd be the first on the chopping block.

So he was constantly desperate for talent.

"From today on, you're a Major of the Silver Team—my right-hand man!"
