Chapter 41 - Chapter 41: Bedtime Exercise

The four of them went into their respective rooms.

David and Amy went into room four, while Roy and Heather went into room five.

"This room is so dirty! This table, this blanket, they're covered in dust! Oh my god, the water in the bathroom is completely yellow!"

As soon as they entered the room, Heather started complaining.

Roy shrugged, looking a little helpless.

"Heather, motels in small towns like this are just like this."

Of course, Heather knew that. Motels like this mainly cater to people passing through, drug addicts, and even fugitives. The motel owner probably never even considered repeat customers.

It's like the businesses in tourist areas that overcharge customers – they don't expect repeat business, so they don't bother with good service.

Heather looked a little disheartened.

"I thought our first trip together would be a bit more romantic!"

As a "sea king" (someone who dates many people), how could Roy not know that women want romance? Actually, he had already prepared something romantic for Heather in Aspen, but a sudden snowfall had forced him to postpone his plans.

Roy would keep this a secret and save it as a surprise for Heather.

"Heather, as long as we're together, anywhere we go is romantic!"

Hearing this, Heather gave a sweet smile, then took off her coat, revealing her lovely figure.

Seeing Heather's expression, Roy knew what she wanted to do. He immediately turned on the air conditioning and the TV, ready for some bedtime exercise.

However, when the big, old TV in the room was turned on, it only showed static; there was no signal.

Roy didn't actually intend to watch any TV shows; he just wanted to create some background noise to cover up the sounds of the "battle" later.

Luckily, there was a VCR under the TV. Roy casually picked up a videotape and looked at the title.

"This is The Ring'?"

What a terrible name!

But generally speaking, videotapes in motels like this weren't anything wholesome. Roy didn't think much of it and just shoved the tape into the VCR.

The TV started playing some strange scenery footage with no sound.

Roy was about to change the videotape, but Heather was already impatiently wiggling her toes against his back, issuing a "duel" invitation.

As a "duelist," Roy would never back down when someone wanted to challenge him.

He suddenly turned around and hugged Heather. She had already taken off her lower "armor," but she was still wearing her top, probably feeling a bit cold.

Since the blanket didn't look too clean, they would have a standing "duel." Anyway, with Roy's 30 points in Constitution, he wouldn't feel tired even if they "dueled" all day.

"Ah!"

Hole-in-one, a perfect birdie.

Heather couldn't help but let out a gasp. She could feel that Roy's "golf club" seemed to have gotten bigger again.

The current "golf club" model had already exceeded Heather's limit of what she could handle.

"Shh! Heather, keep it down. The soundproofing in these small motels isn't very good!"

Of course, Heather knew that motel soundproofing was bad, but some things couldn't be suppressed by willpower alone. She bit her lip, trying her best to keep quiet.

But some whimpering sounds still escaped.

There was no other way. Roy had to trouble himself a little and help "plug the hole" to minimize the sound.

However, the two who were busy "dueling" didn't notice that the TV screen had started showing a strange well.

The videotape quickly finished playing, and then the phone in the room suddenly rang, startling Roy and Heather.

Startled, Roy accidentally used a bit too much force, and then Heather in his arms let out a scream.

That scream could probably be heard throughout the entire motel.

Taking another look at Heather, her eyes had rolled back, and she seemed to have left her body.

There was nothing else to do. Roy had to pick up the phone while still holding Heather.

"Hello? Is this the motel owner?"

Roy thought the motel owner was calling about something, but he was surprised to hear some strange noises when he answered.

It sounded like a gurgling noise coming from someone's throat, along with the sound of fingernails scratching.

"Crazy!"

Roy hung up the phone immediately. Just as he was about to resume the "battle," he heard loud banging on the wall from room four next door, where David and Amy were staying.

Could it be that Heather's earlier scream was too loud and disturbed them?

Roy felt a little embarrassed. After all, that couple was about to get divorced, and hearing such noises must be awkward.

Since Heather hadn't come to yet, Roy put her on a chair to rest for a moment and went out to apologize to David and Amy.

He left his room and knocked on the door next door.

Before he knocked, the light in the room was on. But after Roy knocked, the light inside suddenly went off.

What does this mean?

Did they not want to talk to him?

Roy stood at the door of room four, frowning and hesitating whether to knock again.

Just then, Roy felt someone approaching from behind. He immediately turned around and saw it was the little mustached motel owner.

The motel owner held a flashlight in one hand and kept the other behind his back.

"Sir, I just heard a scream. Is everything alright?"

So, the motel owner had come to check after hearing Heather's commotion, which made Roy feel a bit awkward.

"Oh, it was nothing. My girlfriend and I were just doing some bedtime exercises... By the way, I just got a weird prank call!"

To change the subject, Roy mentioned the strange call he had just received.

"A prank call? We rarely get calls at the motel. Are you sure you didn't make a mistake?"

"No way, I definitely heard the phone ring. When I picked it up, I heard someone making a gurgling sound in their throat, and the sound of fingernails scratching something."

Hearing this, the little mustached motel owner's expression changed.

"Oh, well, I'm not really sure about that. M-maybe it was just some kids nearby playing a prank."

Something's not right!

Roy carefully observed the motel owner's expression and felt like the man's reaction was one of fear.

This guy probably knew something about the prank call, but why would he be scared?

Just as he was about to ask more, Roy suddenly heard a loud thud from room four behind him, like someone had slammed against the wall.

What's going on?

Roy turned his head towards room four, looking confused.

Could it be that David and Amy were a bit overwhelmed by the sounds from his and Heather's room and decided to have some "breakup sex"?

Did they turn off the lights on purpose so they wouldn't be disturbed?

At this moment, the motel owner in front of him said,

"Sir, it's very late now. You should probably go back and get some rest."

Looking at his watch, it was indeed very late. It was already past midnight.

However, Roy had just done some "exercise" and was feeling a bit hungry now.

"Hey, owner, do you have anything to eat here?"

"Sorry, the motel doesn't handle guests' food needs."

The motel owner started to show some impatience.

Roy shrugged and turned to walk back to his room.

However, just at that moment, the door of room four started making continuous banging sounds.
