Chapter 14: Prey!

As Mr. Yohan and the others finished the gear to enchant, Rolien asked them to wait. Suddenly, a loud crash echoed from downstairs, and the group's eyes met in a mixture of fear and concern. Elara's face twisted in worry as she turned to Rolien.

"Absolutely not! You won't go outside this room without me!" she exclaimed, her voice trembling with anxiety.

Rolien's expression turned resolute, his jaw set in determination. "No, big sister, I have to do this. If those guys come here, we're all going to be in grave danger. I need to lure them away, minimize the damage. Please trust me, I can keep us safe."

Elara's anger flared, her eyes welling up with tears. "No, I won't let you! I promised Mom and Dad I'd protect you! I won't let you get hurt or killed!"

Rolien's eyes burned with a fierce determination, his voice filled with conviction. "Big sister, I need to do this. If I stay, you'll all be in danger too. I have to go out and draw them away so you can finish enchanting the gear. It's the only way I can keep you and everyone safe."

Mr. Yohan's voice broke the tense silence, his tone laced with a mix of amusement and understanding. "Tsk, let him be, Miss Elara. That kid's stubborn. Even if you don't let him, he'll go anyway. He's always been like that, constantly upgrading his gear to keep everyone safe. Look at his eyes – that's the look of someone who's made up their mind."

As Mr. Yohan spoke, Rolien's eyes locked onto his sister's, filled with a deep sense of responsibility and determination. Elara's expression softened slightly, seeing the resolve in her brother's eyes, but her worry and fear still lingered.

"Thanks, Mr. Yohan!" Rolien exclaimed, his voice filled with gratitude. Mr. Yohan simply nodded, his expression serious.

"Lyra, keep big sis and Mr. Yohan safe while I keep those guys company!" Rolien added, his eyes gleaming with determination. Lyra smiled, her eyes shining with trust in Rolien's abilities.

With a swift motion, Rolien grabbed his air rifle and some gears, his movements economical and precise. He turned to leave, but before he could close the door, his sister pulled him into a tight hug.

"Please be safe, little Roah," she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion. "I'm proud of you!"

Rolien's face softened for a moment, and he hugged her back tightly. Then, with a nod, he gently pulled away and dashed forward, the noise growing louder with each step.

As he moved through the darkened hallway, the shadows seemed to writhe and twist around him, like living things. The air was thick with tension, and Rolien's senses were on high alert, his heart pounding in his chest.

He could hear the sound of scuttling, scratching noises, and the heavy breathing of the intruders. Class C and F mana beasts, he thought, his mind racing with strategies. He knew he had to take them out one by one, using stealth and cunning to outmaneuver them.

Rolien crept forward, his air rifle at the ready, his eyes scanning the darkness for any sign of movement. Suddenly, a faint glow appeared in the distance, and he froze, his finger tightening on the trigger.

A Class F mana beast, a Glimmer Bat, fluttered into view, its wings glowing with a soft, ethereal light. Rolien's rifle snapped up, and he fired, the pellet striking the bat with precision. The creature let out a high-pitched squeak as it fell to the ground, its glow fading into darkness.

Rolien smiled grimly to himself. One down, several more to go. He moved forward, his senses on high alert, ready to face whatever dangers lay ahead.

Rolien's heart pounded in his chest as he faced off against two mana beasts, a pair of snarling, razor-toothed creatures with glowing red eyes. They were Class C beasts, and they moved with deadly precision, their claws gleaming in the dim light.

The first beast, a Wolf-like creature with enhanced strength, lunged at Rolien, its jaws wide open. Rolien swiftly aimed his air rifle and fired, striking the beast's leg with precision. The creature yelped in pain as it stumbled, its momentum lost.

Rolien seized the opportunity, kicking the beast's head with a swift, precise motion. The beast's head snapped back, its eyes glazing over as it stumbled backwards.

As Rolien kicked the beast, he slid under a nearby table, using it as cover. But the second beast, a hulking monstrosity with sharp claws, wasn't deterred. It leapt onto the table, its claws swiping down with deadly force. The table splintered and shattered under the attack, the wood creaking and groaning as it gave way.

Rolien reacted swiftly, kicking the foot of the table and sending it crashing to the side. The beast lost its balance, stumbling as it tried to regain its footing. Rolien took advantage of the momentary distraction, aiming his rifle at the beast's face and firing. The pellet struck true, and the beast's head jerked back, its eyes glazing over as it collapsed to the ground.

But Rolien's respite was short-lived. He sensed movement behind him, and his instincts screamed at him to act. He hurled himself against the table, using the momentum to slide to the other side. A split second later, a claw swiped through the air, striking the spot where he'd just been.

Rolien rolled to avoid the next attack, his heart racing with adrenaline. As he came to his feet, he spotted a nearby flower vase and grabbed it, hurling it at the beast's face. The vase shattered on impact, sending shards of ceramic flying everywhere. The beast stumbled back, its eyes momentarily blinded by the attack.

Rolien took advantage of the opening, aiming his rifle at the beast's head. He fired, the pellet striking true, and the beast's body slumped to the ground, defeated.

Panting heavily, Rolien surveyed the carnage around him. He'd taken down the two mana beasts, but he knew there could be more. He readied his rifle, prepared to face whatever dangers lay ahead.

As Rolien reached the main corridor of the manor, he cautiously pushed open the door to the dining hall. The room was dimly lit, the only light coming from the faint moonbeams filtering through the windows. The air was thick with tension, and the silence was oppressive.

Rolien's eyes scanned the room, taking in the scene before him. Several mana beasts surrounded a small group of servants, who cowered in fear. The beasts seemed to be savoring the moment, enjoying the terror they inspired.

Rolien's gaze swept across the room, his eyes lingering on each of the enemies. There was a Minotaur, its massive frame and imposing horns marking it as an A-class beast. Two Grey Wolves, their sleek bodies and glowing eyes indicating their B-class status, prowled the edges of the room. And two Goblins, their F-class status evident in their scrawny frames and wicked-looking knives, capered and chattered in the corner.

As Rolien counted the enemies, he clicked his tongue in frustration. This wasn't going to be an easy fight. The Minotaur alone would be a formidable opponent, and the Grey Wolves were no slouches either. The Goblins might be weak, but they could still cause trouble if they got in the way.

The dining hall itself was a grand room, with a long wooden table running down its center. The walls were adorned with cobweb-covered portraits, and the floor was made of polished marble. But now, the room was in disarray, chairs overturned and plates shattered on the floor. The servants huddled together, their eyes fixed on the mana beasts with fear.

Rolien's eyes narrowed as he assessed the situation. He knew he had to act quickly, before the beasts decided to attack the servants. He readied his air rifle, his mind racing with strategies and tactics. It was time to take down the enemies and save the servants.

Rolien pulled out his knife, its blade glinting in the dim light. He knew taking out the Goblins quietly would be key to not alerting the other beasts. He made a small noise, a faint scrape of his boot on the floor, to draw the Goblins to his location.

One Goblin, its eyes gleaming with malice, crept towards the sound, its knife at the ready. Rolien waited, his muscles tense, as the Goblin approached. When it was close enough, Rolien struck, his knife flashing in the dim light. The Goblin let out a faint gurgle before collapsing to the ground, its body slumping against the wall.

The second Goblin, alerted by its companion's demise, let out a shrill cry and charged towards Rolien. But Rolien was ready, and with a swift motion, he took out the Goblin, ending its cry in a bloody silence.

The room was quiet once more, the only sound the heavy breathing of the servants and the distant growling of the other mana beasts. Rolien peeked around the corner, his eyes locked on the Minotaur and the Grey Wolves. The beasts seemed oblivious to the Goblins' demise, their attention focused on the servants. Rolien's plan was working so far, but he knew the real challenge was yet to come.

With the Goblins out of the way, Rolien's next move was to get into a better position to take out the Grey Wolves. He spotted a statue of a mythical creature in the corner of the room, its stone body towering above the tables. Without hesitation, Rolien sprinted towards the statue, his boots pounding against the marble floor.

He reached the statue and began to climb, his fingers digging into the intricate carvings as he ascended. The stone was cool to the touch, and the carvings provided ample handholds. Rolien climbed higher, his eyes fixed on the Grey Wolves below.

As he reached the top, he settled into a crouch, his air rifle at the ready. From this vantage point, he had a clear view of the entire room. The Minotaur loomed large, its horns gleaming in the dim light, but Rolien's focus was on the Grey Wolves.

He aimed his rifle at the first Grey Wolf, its eyes glowing with an otherworldly energy. Rolien's finger tightened on the trigger, and he fired. The pellet struck the Grey Wolf with precision, hitting its shoulder and sending it stumbling back.

The second Grey Wolf reacted swiftly, its eyes snapping towards Rolien's position. But Rolien was ready, aiming his rifle at the second wolf. He fired again, the pellet striking the wolf's side. The wolf yelped in pain, its fur standing on end as it stumbled.

The Minotaur, alerted by the commotion, turned its gaze towards Rolien, its eyes blazing with fury. The air seemed to vibrate with tension as the beast took a step forward, its massive frame radiating power. Rolien knew he had to take out the Minotaur next, but he also knew it wouldn't be an easy task.

The Minotaur charged forward, its massive body barreling towards Rolien like a freight train. Rolien's eyes darted around, frantically searching for an escape route. The statue he was perched on seemed like a precarious perch now, and he knew he had to act fast.

As the Minotaur closed in, its horns glinting in the dim light, Rolien spotted the chain that hung the chandelier. Without hesitation, he leapt from the statue, his body soaring through the air. He grabbed the chain, feeling the cool metal links dig into his palms as he swung himself towards the next chandelier.

The Minotaur slammed into the statue, its massive axe swinging wildly as it missed Rolien by mere inches. The statue shattered under the impact, sending shards of stone flying everywhere. But Rolien was already in motion, swinging himself towards the next chandelier.

The Minotaur swung its axe again, this time targeting the chandelier Rolien was on. The blade bit into the crystal, sending shards of glass flying everywhere. But Rolien had anticipated the attack, and he jumped down just in time, avoiding the axe's deadly swing.

He landed hard on the floor, his momentum carrying him forward. Rolien dashed towards the window, his heart pounding in his chest. The Minotaur gave chase, its massive body crashing through the furniture as it pursued Rolien.

Rolien reached the window and flung it open, the cool night air rushing in as he leapt out into the darkness. He landed on the sill, his fingers digging into the stone as he balanced precariously. The Minotaur followed, its massive body filling the window frame as it swung its axe in a wild arc.

But Rolien was already gone, dropping down to the ground below as the Minotaur's axe bit into the stone sill, sending shards of rock flying everywhere. Rolien landed hard on the grass, his body absorbing the impact as he rolled away.

Rolien sprang into action, jumping over a nearby planter as the Minotaur's axe bit into the ground where he had just landed. He dodged to the side, avoiding a swipe of the Minotaur's massive fist, and weaved between the pillars of the manor's portico.

As the Minotaur charged forward, Rolien rolled to the side, using the momentum to propel himself towards a nearby statue. He slid behind it, using it as cover as the Minotaur's axe shattered the stone pedestal.

Rolien peeked around the corner, his eyes locked on the Minotaur. He fired his air rifle, striking the beast's shoulder, but it barely seemed to notice. The Minotaur charged forward, its horns gleaming in the moonlight.

Rolien jumped to the side, avoiding the Minotaur's attack, and landed on the balls of his feet. He sprinted forward, dodging the Minotaur's wild swings, and fired his air rifle again, this time striking the beast's knee.

The Minotaur stumbled, its leg buckling under the impact. Rolien seized the opportunity, dashing forward and firing his air rifle at point-blank range. The pellet struck the Minotaur's chest, and for a moment, the beast seemed to hesitate.

But the Minotaur's momentum was too great, and it crashed forward, its horns aimed straight at Rolien. Rolien rolled to the side, avoiding the horns by mere inches, and fired his air rifle again, striking the Minotaur's exposed neck.

The Minotaur stumbled, its strength waning, and Rolien took advantage of the opening. He fired his air rifle again and again, each pellet striking true as the Minotaur's body began to falter.

Finally, with a deafening crash, the Minotaur collapsed to the ground, its massive body sending shockwaves through the earth. Rolien stood panting, his chest heaving with exertion, as he gazed down at the defeated beast.

The night was quiet once more, the only sound the distant howling of wolves and the creaking of the manor's wooden beams. Rolien knew he had won this battle, but the war was far from over. He readied his air rifle, prepared to face whatever dangers lay ahead.

Rolien sensed something behind him and instinctively dodged to the side, rolling down to the ground. As he looked up, he saw another Minotaur looming over him, its massive body radiating power.

"Tsk, the hell tough that was the last one," Rolien muttered, his eyes widening in surprise. "With my body state, I don't think I can take another A-class mana beast." He clicked his tongue in frustration, readying himself for the fight.

The Minotaur charged forward, its horns gleaming in the moonlight. Rolien prepared to defend himself, but just as the Minotaur was about to attack, a voice rang out.

"You've done well, young master! You can leave the rest to me now!" Sir Marcellus exclaimed, dashing forward with his sword at the ready.

The Minotaur turned to face Sir Marcellus, its eyes flashing with anger. Sir Marcellus charged forward, his sword flashing in the moonlight as he clashed with the Minotaur.

The two combatants exchanged blows, their movements lightning-fast as they battled across the courtyard. The Minotaur's massive strength was matched by Sir Marcellus's skill and experience, and the two fighters seemed evenly matched.

Sir Marcellus dodged the Minotaur's attack and countered with a swift strike, his sword biting deep into the beast's side. The Minotaur roared in pain, but it refused to fall.

The battle raged on, the two fighters exchanging blows and neither gaining the upper hand. Rolien watched in awe, his eyes fixed on the epic battle unfolding before him.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, Sir Marcellus landed a decisive blow, striking the Minotaur's neck with precision. The beast let out a deafening roar before collapsing to the ground, defeated.

Sir Marcellus stood panting, his chest heaving with exertion. He turned to Rolien and nodded, a hint of a smile on his face. "You're a formidable young man, Rolien. But next time, let's try to avoid getting into such danger, hmm?"

Rolien grinned, feeling a mix of relief and admiration for Sir Marcellus. "I'll try my best, Sir Marcellus. But I think I've learned a thing or two from this fight."

Together, they stood victorious, surveying the aftermath of the battle. The courtyard was littered with the bodies of the defeated mana beasts, and the manor's walls bore the scars of the fight. But Rolien and Sir Marcellus stood tall, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

Sir Marcellus's eyes narrowed as he sensed more monsters approaching. "Rolien, I need your help with this many. Can you give me a hand?"

Rolien grinned, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "Well, it's hard to refuse with this much fun, sir!"

Without another word, Sir Marcellus dashed forward, his sword flashing in the moonlight as he took out a high-level mana beast with a swift strike. Rolien followed close behind, his air rifle firing precise shots at the weaker monsters surrounding Sir Marcellus.

The battle was intense, with monsters closing in from all sides. Sir Marcellus and Rolien fought in perfect sync, their movements fluid and deadly. Sir Marcellus took down the stronger beasts, while Rolien picked off the weaker ones with ease.

As they fought, the monsters seemed to grow stronger and more numerous. Rolien's air rifle clicked empty, and he swiftly reloaded, his hands moving with practiced ease. Sir Marcellus's sword sliced through the monsters, his movements a blur of steel and fury.

Just when it seemed they were gaining ground, a massive roar echoed through the night air. A behemoth of a monster emerged from the shadows, its eyes glowing with an otherworldly energy.

"By the gods," Sir Marcellus muttered, his eyes widening in shock. "It's a... it's a S-class mana beast!"

The S-class mana beast charged forward, its massive body barreling towards Sir Marcellus and Rolien. They stood frozen, their eyes fixed on the horror approaching them.

And then, just as all hope seemed lost, the ground beneath them gave way. The earth shook, and the two fighters stumbled, their footing lost.

And Rolien's world was a blur as he fell, his stomach lurching as he plummeted into the unknown. He landed hard on a rocky surface, the air knocked out of him. As he struggled to catch his breath, he saw the Small Earth Drake looming over him.

The Earth Drake was a Class S mana beast, its body a mass of scaly, earth-toned flesh. Its eyes glowed with an inner fire, and its claws seemed to shimmer with the power of the earth. Rolien knew he was in grave danger.

"No! Young master Rolien!" Sir Marcellus shouted.

The Earth Drake's claws flashed down, and Rolien tried to roll out of the way. But he was too slow, and the claws caught him, pinning him to the ground. Rolien screamed in pain as the Earth Drake's claws dug deeper, its power coursing through his body.

The Earth Drake's eyes seemed to bore into Rolien's soul, and he felt his strength waning. He tried to struggle, but it was no use. The Earth Drake's power was too great, and Rolien was at its mercy.

As the Earth Drake's claws tightened their grip, Rolien's vision began to blur. He knew he was running out of time. With a surge of adrenaline, he tried to reach for his air rifle, but it was too far away.

The Earth Drake's jaws opened wide, revealing rows of razor-sharp teeth. Rolien closed his eyes, bracing for the impact. But just as the Earth Drake was about to strike, but few seconds later the attack never comes so he open his eyes. He saw sir Marcellus keep attacking the Earth drake to free him from it's claws . And He was still pinned to the ground, his body aching all over. The Earth Drake's claws still held him in place, and Rolien knew he had to think fast if he wanted to survive. But as he looked up at the Earth Drake, he saw something that made his blood run cold...

As they fell, Rolien's scream was lost in the chaos. The last thing he saw was Sir Marcellus's shocked face before everything went dark.

The darkness was absolute, and Rolien's world went silent.
