After eating to my full, I leaned back in my chair, rubbing my stomach with satisfaction. It had been so long since I had a proper meal without worrying about the next one. Just as I was about to clean up, my phone buzzed on the table. I picked it up and saw a message from Alex.
Send me the details of the lawyer that scammed you.
My heart skipped a beat. I hadn't expected him to follow up so quickly. Without wasting a second, I quickly gathered the necessary information and sent it to him. A sense of relief washed over me. Maybe, just maybe, justice would be served. With that thought, I decided to call it a night.
I changed into my pajamas, turned off the lights, and slipped under the covers. The bed was warm and inviting, a luxury I wasn't used to. As I closed my eyes, exhaustion took over, and I drifted into a deep sleep.
