~Bella's POV
I sat on the edge of my bed, still in disbelief at Alex's words. My hands trembled slightly as I clutched the hem of my dress, my heart pounding against my ribs. He had promised to clear my sister's hospital bills and find my brother a new lawyer. It was more than I ever expected, more than I even dared to hope for.
"You don't have to do all this," I whispered, my voice barely audible. I wasn't used to people helping me, especially not in such a significant way.
Alex sighed, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. "Bella, you've been struggling alone for too long. Let me take care of this. I want to help."
I swallowed hard, trying to hold back the emotions welling up inside me. The weight I had been carrying for so long suddenly felt a little lighter. My sister's medical bills had been a constant burden, and my brother's case had been a nightmare. For the first time in a long time, I saw a glimpse of hope.
