~Alex's POV
Bella stared at me, her eyes filled with tears and something else, something I couldn't quite name. Gratitude? Relief? I wasn't sure. But what I was sure of was the way she suddenly leaned forward, her soft lips pressing against mine.
At first, it was hesitant, a mere brush of warmth. Then, as if she realized what she was doing, she deepened the kiss, her hands coming up to cup my face. I froze for a moment, caught off guard by her sudden affection. But then my body responded, my arms wrapping around her waist as I pulled her closer.
She tasted sweet, like the faint traces of the hospital's minty water mixed with something uniquely her. Her fingers tangled in my hair, tugging me in as if she never wanted to let go. I groaned against her lips, tilting her head back so I could kiss her deeper. She melted into me, her body pressing against mine, warm and inviting.
