107. Miss Yor Briar
Dark clouds loomed overhead.
At this moment, a fine drizzle was falling over Chiba.
Yor Briar, 25 years old, codename "Princess of Thorns", was known to the outside world as the ace of a killer organization.
Just yesterday, while traveling in Japan, she received an order from the organization:
She was to assassinate the Hikigaya family, who lived in Chiba.
But upon receiving the file, Miss Yor didn't act immediately.
The file indicated that Hikigaya's parents were covert drug dealers in the region and thus necessary targets for elimination. The dossier contained ample evidence—even clear photos of the Hikigaya parents conducting transactions with the local mafia.
The killer organization was well aware that the Princess of Thorns only killed evil people. Everything seemed so natural, perfectly aligning with Yor's principle of only hunting the wicked.
But the file also noted that the Hikigaya couple had a son and a daughter. Could people like that really be covert drug lords?
With her rich experience, Miss Yor keenly sensed something was off.
So she went alone to investigate the area surrounding the Hikigaya home and began her surveillance of the couple.
At this very moment, she was holding binoculars, observing the Hikigaya couple's every move from afar.
However, she failed to notice—in a nearby tall building, someone else was also observing her through binoculars.
.
.
.
With her natural white hair, Honebami Miroslava wore black gloves and a cold black uniform. Her shapely hips filled out her straight-cut black trousers with a striking curve. As the "brutal enforcement device" of the Hundred Devourers Clan tasked with eliminating "impurities," the weight on her chest had become more of a burden than an asset.
But no one dared underestimate her just because of her tall and curvy figure—so unlike a stereotypical assassin.
At only seventeen, she was hailed as the most gifted prodigy of the Honebami family and viewed as its next head.
She held her binoculars, eyes squinting as she watched Yor, who was wandering around the Hikigaya residence.
"This woman… there's something off about her."
She slowly put the binoculars down, a heavy look flashing in her golden eyes. As a fellow top-tier assassin, she sensed Yor's unusual presence.
This woman was definitely not some low-rank killer.
"I didn't expect that damned Momobami to throw such a huge problem at me."
Muttering, she took off her gloves and pulled out a cosmetics kit from the side, beginning to apply makeup to her face.
For a top assassin, the most important thing was aura.
With the aid of her makeup techniques, Honebami concealed every trace of her otherworldly presence.
Rustle—
Her black uniform dropped to the ground and was stepped on by a pair of jade-like feet. She bent down and pulled out a pleated skirt and safety shorts from her uniform box, putting them on.
The reflection in the mirror transformed her into a voluptuous, sweet-tempered JK schoolgirl—the type that would charm both boys and girls.
Getting close to the target—a required course for assassins.
Once everything was ready, she took out her handkerchief, sprayed it with a dose of sedative strong enough to take down a grown adult, and stepped out the door.
.
.
.
Everything progressed just as Honebami had predicted. Her flawless acting deceived Yor entirely.
At the very moment Yor kindly offered to give her directions—
Her muscles suddenly tensed, and she pressed the drug-soaked handkerchief tightly over Yor's nose and mouth. The intense struggle almost allowed Yor to break free, which only confirmed Honebami's suspicions: this woman was no ordinary assassin.
Fortunately, this was a slice-of-life world. No matter how powerful the Princess of Thorns' body was, she could not resist the power of science.
In less than three seconds, Yor Briar's tall, curvy body went limp and collapsed into the driver's seat, utterly unconscious.
Honebami deftly shielded Yor from the view of passersby with her own body. Though there were some witnesses who saw her in the driver's seat, after noticing her innocent schoolgirl appearance, they didn't pay it any mind and simply moved along.
With a calm expression, Miroslava moved Yor to the passenger seat, gripped the steering wheel, and slowly pressed down the accelerator.
While driving, she dialed a number.
"Momobami, it's me."
"Ah, Miroslava. Did something happen?"
Honebami asked:
"Things went as you predicted. I captured an assassin near the Hikigaya residence. How should I handle it?"
"An assassin?"
On the other end, Momobami Kirari furrowed her brows. Ignoring the teacher's puzzled gaze on the podium, she walked straight out of the classroom.
Originally, she was merely fulfilling her role as Hikigaya's trump card—dispatching a member of the Hundred Devourers to protect his family. But she hadn't expected Mibuomi Aoi would really go as far as sending an assassin.
Even though there wasn't yet proof that Mibuomi was behind it, Kirari didn't need proof to be suspicious.
She reached a quiet corridor.
After a moment's thought, Kirari asked:
"Were any of Hikigaya's family members harmed?"
"No. The assassin was strong, but I took her down before she could make a move," Honebami replied truthfully.
"Detain her. Interrogate for intel—no blood," Kirari swiftly ordered. "I'll send Hikigaya Hachiman to your location later. Watch her until then."
"Understood."
Kirari's tone carried an air of commanding superiority, but Honebami still responded meekly and obediently.
Despite the fierce infighting within the Hundred Devourers, no one dared go against Kirari's word when she issued an order as clan head. For the sake of the clan's common good, all internal conflict had to cease in the face of her authority.
Since ascending to power, Kirari had rarely exercised her clan leader's authority. Assigning the Honebami family to protect Hikigaya's family was one such occasion.
Now that it concerned the safety of Hikigaya's family, Kirari made no effort to conceal it.
She understood that for someone like Hikigaya, being honest and upfront with him was far more effective than letting him figure it out later and be moved to tears.
They were all rational thinkers, masters of schemes. Old tricks of winning hearts no longer worked.
Kirari arrived at Class 1-A's classroom and knocked on the door.
Under the gaze of the entire class and teacher, she calmly said in a gentle voice:
"Hikigaya-kun, may I trouble you to step outside for a moment?"
Her voice was soft—but carried an undeniable authority.
The female teacher standing at the podium shuddered and immediately lowered her head, not daring to meet Momobami's gaze. In this school, a single word from Momobami carried more weight than the principal's.
Among the students of Class 1-A, there were eyes filled with envy, jealousy, fear… a variety of emotions flickered as they looked at the back of Hikigaya Hachiman, who had risen and walked out of the classroom.
Outside the door, standing side by side with Momobami Kirari, Hikigaya was not affected by the overwhelming presence. He asked calmly:
"President, is there something you need?"
"I dispatched someone to secretly protect your family in Chiba. Just now, we captured an assassin who was loitering near your home."
