Chapter 40 - Traveler's Day

A knock at the door could be heard, as his ears flickered, swiftly turning his head towards it, blinking and being kicked back to the harsh reality!

"Can I come in?"

Nora's voice could be heard, soft, clearly. She had just woken up from a very good sleep, offering some light groans.

"Come in, as long as you don't touch anything!"

His voice was plain, simple, arranging the mask on his face. – He was waiting to see what her reaction would be in the end! – Not every day do you see a little fox dressed formally!

Her hand pressed the handle down, pushing forward. – And as such, the door opened itself. Head peeking forward by the corner, staring right at Tris's masked self.

Nora's mouth fell open. – She was wearing her white Stone-like armour, along with her mask settled at her waist. Yet she did not expect Tris to be wearing such.

The big difference was that hers had stone-like plates and lacked the golden details. – While his own had them. – As for the masks? His was golden, with different runes etched into it.

"God damn you're pretty! Althea was not lying when she said the outfit was made to fit… Though she did not give you any armour…"

The angelic lady spoke, a hand resting on her own waist as she fully walked in, looking at the man, her head tilting to the sides, moving to get a better look.

"It would only restrict my movement. The Soulsong is based on speed. Armour serves me with nothing but issues."

Tris spoke, making it clear plates would only make it harder for him… In the end, he had his metallic wings. – Those are the only types of armour he needs.

His answer was blunt, but it made sense, it left Nora with her mouth open. – She did not take him as a smart fighter before.. Yet perhaps she was quite very wrong.

"Now stop staring! You're making me think it looks weird! – What's the time? She said she's gonna come take us at! Uh… I forgot- Right! Twelve."

Tris took his sweet time when talking. – He may be SUPPOSEDLY the second wisest person alive. But no one can defeat the sleepy memories.

"Eehhh, it is... eleven, almost twelve. You sleep for a long time."

She answered quite swiftly. – After all, she was probably awake for quite the window of time!

"It happens after I don't sleep normally for an extensive period. – Bound to happen. – Was she around here in the morning?"

He asked after stating the truth. – After all, someone let her in. Unless she just broke in with something.

"She was actually! – We had a cup of tea and discussed different matters regarding the Heavens. My mother, and more details that do not matter to you."

Her words sounded quite defensive at the end. – Like he was about to pry them open and get his answers anyway!

"Mhmmm, I should listen in on your conversations some day…"

The fox bluntly spoke, quite clearly holding no shame about it. – Nor being worried about being caught at all.

"Do it, and I will turn your tail into a rainbow the next day. Asshole."

Nora spoke out, clearly threatening him in the most innocent way possible.

Though she seemed to be talking the absolute truth. – Why did he know that? Ivory stone feather-like fragments began gathering themselves. Forming her wings.

Soon after, they seemed to shed the stone as if it were dust covering them. Revealing Plain fluffy wings with a huff.

Tris offered a cackle, strings turning themselves into reality, moving themselves as if they were gathering something from the air.

Silvery metallic feathers began crafting themselves around the young man, row by row. His own set of wings showed itself.

One thing was not normal. – At their ends, stood some kind of golden cover. Making every last feather of the row look golden. – A crown of sorts… Peculiar!

"... Althea has truly outdone herself. – Runic magic on the mask, and clothing infused with the crown…"

Nora spoke. Blinking a few times. – Knowing more than Tris on this topic. At least for the time being!

"OOH, so these little gold things are a crown?! – Now this makes a bit more sense… – Do you think there's time for tea?"

The fox spoke. Ears flickering lightly in the air as his eyes glanced around the empty room. It looked weird without his things present…

"Uhh, I was one step forward! Cup on the table. – I would say, be careful, it's hot, but you get the point!"

She spoke. Giving a light chuckle with her last mention. – Stepping back towards the door. Going into the hallway.

Tris gave a chuckle. Stepping along. Following her into the hallway with some soft steps. Doing a small pirouette with grace. His wings turned fluffy. Yet the gold cover remained.

Nora went forward, giving a small yawn. – Perhaps she did not sleep that well! – But she would have the time later.

The man moved swiftly. Eyeing the cup on the table as he stepped forward, he grabbed it with his hand and brought it up to his lips!

The cup was emptied in mere seconds. – The fox clearly liked tea! None would dare fight it over it. They would lose.

The angelic woman blinked lightly, confused about how this man even drank the tea. – He seemed more like a demon every second that passed!

He lowered the cup, ears flickering as he took another set of long steps. Placing it into the sink. – He would need to wash them when they return…

She just watched him carefully, blinking at every weird thing he did. – Why could he not just act like a normal being? Human being, for that matter.

"What are you stari-"

Before Tris could finish his sentence. His ears flickered. Almost feeling what was coming. – A knock being heard at the door, making the fox freeze.

"Ah- Come in!"

Nora spoke with a smile. Already expecting who would be behind that door. As the clock hit exactly twelve. – Ooo! Good luck to the fox.
