Chiro sat in his seat on the airplane with Natsuki right next to him. He was wearing glasses and casual clothes—a blue jacket with a bright white shirt underneath and black jeans. Natsuki wore a more formal red dress with flowers and a black sleep mask over her eyes. The view outside was covered with clouds and tall mountain peaks, which meant they were crossing the border from Lukia to Ninjaro. The Security Conference was held by the Security Council of the National Union Society (NUS), which was the single strongest authority in the world. In the Security Conference, there would be multiple Secretariats of the Security Council, all the calamities of the continent, and the calamities subordinate to or helper. For Chiro his subordinate is Natsuki.
Of course, it was Natsuki. Emily was too emotionally driven and a stickler for rules, which would be a harsh contrast for the power-driven society this world is, and you never know what she can say that could anger society. Danso was new to the DMMS, so it would be a waste, and he did not know enough about politics, and he did not want to disturb Danso's training and time with the other colleagues. Haruki was just a child, and Tensei refused to come with Chiro because it would be too boring. So he asked Natuski and went with her since she was the most mature out of them all.
The Security Conference was going to be in the country of Indus, which was to the south of the continent. Lukia is a country that borders the Endless Sea (it was named as such since it was believed there would be no land beyond the continent, so it was just the sea covering the Earth), and its bordering countries are Ninjaro to the west and North, and the Snow Kingdom to the south. The west of Ninjaro would be The Land of the Free, or Starry Kingdom, and to the south of Ninjaro is the Country of Diversity, Indus.
After a few more hours, the plane finally landed, and Chiro and Natsuki descended from the plane. Many reporters and cameramen were right outside the airport, clicking photos and buzzing to interview them. Chiro looked around and caught a glimpse of the other calamities coming out of their more fancy planes, and with suits and clean hairstyles. Chiro and Natsuki were escorted by a NUS executive officer named Jarob. Chiro and Jarob got along in the car drive to their hotel while Natsuki was listening to music while looking outside for the views.
Eventually, it was the day of the Conference. Chiro and Natuski did nothing for the entirety of their first day in Indus. They just rested and prepared themselves for the day that was going to come. Chiro and Natsuki went in a fancy car that was slick black and long with a NUS logo on the front and back of the car. The car's number plate was non-existent, and there were separate roads for them to use. After the two-hour car drive, Chiro and Natsuki reached their destination. It was the NUS Industrial Section Headquarters. It was a brown building with greenery surrounding the entire building. The building was massive and in an irregular shape, with a pyramid shape on top. They walked inside the huge building by pulling the glass doors open.
It did not take long for Natsuki to realise what was going on while Chiro wandered around the place aimlessly.
"What is this place?" asked Chiro softly.
"It is a before conference party, I suppose," whispered Natsuki.
Chiro saw the stacks of food on the counters and smelled the aroma of chicken and meats that were on display, along with the design of the desserts, which were so beautiful that they trapped you inside your mind in awe.
Then one man gently tapped Chiro on the shoulder. Chiro looked back, a little startled, and Jarob came quickly towards Chiro, asking if he required any help. Chiro instantly realised who the man was. It was Alan Normal from the Starry Kingdom. Alan started speaking in a language that Chiro did not understand. Eventually, Jarob gave the translator earphones to Chiro and Alan, which made them both understand each other and enabled them to communicate.
"As I was saying, Good Morning, Chiro Zanami," said Alan.
"Good Morning to you, too," said Chiro.
Alan was a slim man with light blue long hair and normal dark brown eyes. He seemed to be around 175 centimeters tall and was younger than Chiro. Chiro was 28 years old, and Alan seemed to be around his young twenties. He had a defined jawline and was wearing a suit just like Chiro.
"It is a pleasure meeting you, I hope we can be great companions moving forward," continued Alan.
"Yes, yes, the pleasure is mine," said Chiro while shaking Alan's hand.
"At the matter of hand, your military squad is deemed too dangerous for the NUS, I recommend you disband it or at least switch up some members," said Alan.
Natsuki overheard the conversation between Alan and Chiro and started to move towards them. She stood next to Jarob, analysing what Chiro would say and correcting him if he said anything too rude or idiotic.
"I would never do that," replied Chiro.
"There are many pressing matters in Lukia, and it is one of the most crime-packed countries in the world. The DMMS has not shown enough results lately. Your biggest feat as of now is the defeat of the Growler in Akuza and the defeat of a Hivemind of Slime Soul Beasts," explained Alan.
"Pardon? Soul Slime Beasts?" asked Chiro.
"Yes, it was recent. About yesterday, the news got announced," said Alan.
"I see…" said Chiro while gleaming on the inside. The DMMS members had completed a mission successfully without him. The day could not get any better for him.
"Continuing, the world is asking one question. Where are the results, Mister Zanami?" asked Alan.
"You cannot rush to the end without experiencing the journey within, it takes time, after all, I recently assembled this team," replied Chiro.
"May I ask you one question, Mister Normal?" asked Chiro.
"Of course, and call me Alan," said Alan.
"Why do you mind about what we are doing? Last time I checked, the Starry Kingdom is a long journey from Lukia," questioned Chiro.
"It's in the best interest of all of us, isn't it. We all saw what the Ronin had done, invading a warehouse in Akuza, we never know when you might be doing a stunt like that," responded Alan cleverly.
"I assure you that will not happen," said Chiro.
"I hope so," said Alan.
That sentence sounded like a warning to Chiro, so he became more serious. Alan, noticing the increasing hostility in Chiro, released twenty-five percent of his soul energy to intimidate Chiro. The glasses started vibrating, the wine started to bubble, and the chandeliers on the roof started to shake uncontrollably. Chiro just stood there, having an expression that screamed, "That's it?". Before Chiro got an opportunity to retaliate, Natsuki pulled Chiro's arm and tried to distract him by saying, "Look, the macarons will be out of stock soon,". This caused Chiro to run towards the stall where they were served, and Natsuki and Alan to be alone. Everyone in the room felt the soul energy, yet no one got bothered by it, as it was probably usual for calamities to fight with each other.
"Forgive Chiro for me, he can be a drag sometimes," said Natsuki.
"Of course, it's not an issue," said Alan.
Alan and Natsuki went their separate ways before the announcer on the speakers blared with maximum decibels, alerting the calamities and their subordinates to go to the Conference Hall, a room that was right next to the Gathering Room, and the doors were guarded with dense Alkanium and with Guards as strong as Tensei. Chiro and Natsuki waited in a line of two, and the security guards checked their outfits for any weapons, such as guns, swords, etc, and they walked into the room. The room was huge, with stairs in the center descending to the stage where the NUS Head Executive Officer would speak. Beside the stairs, there were chairs and tables for two members each assigned for one Calamity group and a security officer of that area. It was obvious this room was not used for meetings where the number of people attending was barely above twenty.
The NUS Head Executive Officer was wearing a suit, and was bald and with a good physique. His soul energy was on the weaker side of a calamity, around one-fifth of Chiro's soul energy. He tapped the mic and coughed into it, gaining the cameraman's attention.
"Good evening to you all," said the NUS Executive Officer.
The room was silent as all the members were just glaring at the NUS Executive Officer, wanting him to continue.
"My name is Arjen Iron. I am going to be hosting the Security Conference today," continued Arjen.
Chiro was surprised. Even though Arjen had less soul energy and less strength than all the calamities and the security officers, Arjen was still respected and even feared among the calamities. He was warned by Natsuki during the flight that he should get his act together near the Executive Officer, or bad events might unfold. Chiro felt massive amounts of soul energy leaking from the other calamities, including himself, yet Arjen did not care; he merely continued his speech. If it were anyone other than him who was not in this room, they would faint.
The reason for this is simple. The human world exists in a 4-dimensional world, where we can interact with the 5th Dimension, which is the Soul. Even though we can interact and utilise the 5th Dimension, humans cannot perceive it, therefore when there are massive amounts of soul energy the brain instantly notices that there is a unknown substance and tries to perceive it, but when it does the brain gets too much information since it is not meant to handle information from a higher dimensional layer. There was a scientific theory that was formed called the Dimensional Law. It states that beings of a dimensional world can alter dimensions below them or at the same dimension and can utilize to some extent the dimension directly above them, but not any higher. The only way the brain can perceive the soul energy properly is if the human perceiving it has enough soul energy to cancel out the other soul energy.
Therefore, Arjen, withstanding this without much difficulty, was a feat that very few can match.
"There are a plethora of problems that I have to address today, some of which are the terrorist attack of the Ronin on a warehouse in Akuza, the murder of the president in Indus," said Arjen.
A robot started speaking to the speakers. Its automated voice sounded very steely and grim.
"The first issue we have to address is the most important one, of course, the Murder of the President of Indus, Siddarth Ramakrishna, the calamity of Indus. What do you have to say?" said Arjen
Siddarth Ramakrishna tapped the microphone and cleared his throat. He was wearing a traditional cloth from India with a long silk shirt that covered his arms and reached to his thighs. He wore white, puffy pants that covered his legs entirely, while wearing old, shiny shoes that made a tapping noise every time he walked. He was brown skinned with a defined jawline, black hair that was partially dyed brown near the edges of his hair tips, and black eyes.
"The murder of the President was unfortunate, yet it was obvious," said Siddarth.
"Explain yourself," said Arjen.
"To begin with, he rejected my divine sages for protection. He was already the most controversial person in my country, it is crystal clear he must've had some enemies who wanted his throat. In the end, he was not strong enough to deal with them, and he hit the ground six feet under," said Siddarth.
Chiro used his sorcery on the constellations. He whispered the words, "Sorcery of the Constellations:- Virgo Analyst," Virgo analyst, allowed him to get clear information out of any detail he was found and it also works as a lie detector by analysing one person's heartbeat, sweat, and neuron electrical pulses. It was obvious, Siddharth was lying. Yet it was not his issue, therefore, he decided to stand down.
"So who should be the new King or President of Indus?" asked Arjen.
"It should be me," replied Siddarth.
"What makes you qualified for that?" asked Arjen.
"I am already the leader of the Great Sages, therefore, the public would not mind. I am also a calamity, therefore, the security of the country would be stronger as I can make necessary decisions to develop this country," said Siddarth.
"We shall talk about this later, for now, the Vice President or Queen will be the ruler of Indus," said Arjen.
Chiro looked around to see if there were any representatives for Ninjaro. To his surprise, there were none.
"It seems as though no Ninjaro representatives have arrived. It doesn't matter, the NUS supports Lukia in this terrorist matter," said Arjen.
"Thank you," said Chiro politely.
