Chapter 83 - Chapter 83: Javier’s Gift

"Damn it, I need a full medical team." Krauser shouted while pressing on the informant's wound.

But the informant's wound was gushing out a large amount of blood, it couldn't be stopped at all, everything was in vain.

"Teacher."

Just as Leon and Krauser were anxious, Manuela also came in. She looked at the injured informant, her eyes immediately turned red, and she rushed over.

This informant of Leon and Krauser was actually the tutor that Javier had once hired for her.

"Manuela." The informant looked at the girl, and in his nearly unconscious eyes flashed a trace of relief, but the next second, his eyes lost their color.

He still died. Due to excessive blood loss, he didn't last long.

Watching her tutor die in front of her own eyes, Manuela couldn't suppress the pain in her heart and began to cry softly.

And it was because of her sobbing, that at this moment, the sound of water came from outside the cabin.

Then, a terrifying monster emerged from the water, jumped onto the shore, and let out an angry roar toward Aiden and the others.

'Hilda.' Looking at this monster, Aiden was shocked in his heart and raised the gun in his hand.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

A series of gunshots rang out. Aiden pulled the trigger at the monster, and the bullets in the magazine were emptied in an instant.

But the monster called Hilda by Aiden, the bullets had no effect on it, instead, they triggered its ferocity.

"Roar!"

Hilda let out a beast-like roar and then pounced at Aiden.

Aiden's body had already undergone multiple enhancements. Seeing the monster pounce, he jumped sideways and dodged it.

However, the attack method of this monster was not that simple. After missing, several tentacles behind the monster suddenly extended and wrapped toward Aiden.

The speed of the tentacles was extremely fast, impossible to see clearly with the naked eye. By the time Aiden reacted, the tentacles had already wrapped him up.

"No!" Seeing this scene, Manuela shouted.

And just because of this shout, a hesitant expression actually flashed across the monster's face.

It looked at Manuela, then stopped all movements. Then, it released the tentacles wrapped around Aiden and gently placed him down, afterward jumping into the water beside it.

Watching the disappearing monster, everyone was stunned for a moment.

"What the hell is going on?" Leon shouted.

No one answered him, because besides Aiden, no one knew why this happened, including Manuela.

"Why did it let you go?" After realizing, Krauser also asked.

"Maybe, I gained its trust." Aiden, who got up from the ground, said.

Of course he knew why, that monster was Hilda, Manuela's mother. Hearing her voice must have awakened her consciousness, that's why she let him go.

But how could others believe this? Especially Krauser. Although this was his first time fighting a B.O.W., it was enough, it made it hard for him to believe anything he hadn't seen before.

Especially the scene where he saw Aiden being lifted by the monster's tentacles, then later being put down, that scene went beyond his imagination.

However, in the end, he didn't say anything. After a brief silence, he said, "Where are we going next?"

Cloud Snake Village wasn't Javier's base. This was just a small village within his area of influence. But as Javier's daughter, she clearly knew where her father was hiding.

So, when Krauser asked that question, Manuela said, "At the uppermost part of the river, there is a dam. That dam is my father's property. Normally, he would stay there."

As for why Manuela would turn against her father, no one asked. Even Krauser thought of a possibility.

This kind-hearted girl, though she loved her father, couldn't bear what he was doing. So she had to turn against him for the greater good.

Very quickly, Aiden and the others made another sweep through Cloud Snake Village. Although B.O.W.s occasionally jumped out from the water to attack them, apart from causing them some trouble, they didn't inflict any real harm.

Half an hour later, they found a small boat at the Cloud Snake Village dock.

This boat was originally prepared for them by the informant. Although the informant was already dead, "by coincidence", well, it should be said, under Aiden's deliberate guidance, they still used this boat and began heading upstream toward the dam.

It was a long journey, even longer than from the Lovelace family estate to Cloud Snake Village.

It wasn't until nightfall that they finally saw the dam. And above the dam, a whole row of surveillance cameras were "watching" them.

———

"My dear Manuela, are these people the helpers you brought to deal with me?" Inside an office in the dam, Javier looked at the screen and muttered to himself.

He knew clearly, for these people to arrive here, it must've been Manuela who told them. But he deeply loved his daughter. Even so, no hatred toward her rose in his heart.

Javier muttered again, "Let me see how capable the helpers you brought really are."

"I want you to know, only your father is the one most worthy of your trust, and the only one who can protect you."

"My dear daughter, your father will always love you."

———

After getting off the boat, the group climbed up the stairs beside the dam. Then, near the top of the dam, they found an iron door that led inside.

As soon as they entered, a large number of B.O.W.s rushed at them, but these creatures were not a big threat, they were quickly eliminated.

As they continued deeper, to their surprise, they were attacked by both humans and monsters together.

Manuela told them these people were her father's subordinates, members of the Sacred Serpent organization.

They were armed. Though they moved awkwardly, they were more threatening than the B.O.W.s.

"Damn it, why don't the monsters attack them?" After taking care of this strange wave of attackers, Krauser kicked one of the corpses on the ground and cursed angrily.

He had seen with his own eyes that those monsters appeared with these people, but the monsters acted like they could identify teammates, only attacking them.

"It's probably some kind of pheromone." Aiden wasn't certain, in the original plot, he remembered that Javier didn't have that kind of technology.

"Or like the Nemesis, with chips implanted in their brains… uh, okay, forget I said that." Leon stopped mid-sentence under Aiden's idiot-staring gaze.

At this moment, Manuela walked from between Fabiola and Roberta. She was clutching her right arm, which was wrapped in bandages, and looked painfully at the corpses of the humans, because she felt a familiar aura from the Sacred Serpent members.

That aura made the blood in her body stir, the seemingly boiling blood made her feel very uncomfortable.

Seeing her expression, Aiden paused for a moment, then thought of a possibility.

These members of the Sacred Serpent organization had also been infected with the Veronica virus. As if to confirm his theory, just then, Javier's voice came from the loudspeakers in the room.

"Manuela, my daughter, the helpers you found are truly strong. They actually made it here. But their journey ends here, because I've already prepared a big gift for them."

"But don't worry, this gift is specially prepared for them, it won't hurt you." Javier's voice was low, as if he was suppressing something.

And just after he finished speaking, a sudden change happened in the room.

The Sacred Serpent members that Aiden and the others had just killed, actually began to stand up again.
