Lyra's POV
My head was ringing like a bell, my eyes swirling in their sockets, much more than a pendulum would envy. My eyes rolled to the sides, and I could almost feel my eyeballs biting the sides of my head.
I groaned in pain, biting down on my lips to keep back extra doses of pain, splitting me in two from the inside. I tried to sit up, feeling something soft yet scratchy beneath and around me. But my limbs were unusually heavy and weak. I just couldn't move them, nor could I even feel them. They felt like loose extensions of myself.
I kept trying to drag my arms and legs to myself, but each pull felt like I was dragging the air to me. Something I knew was there, could feel was there, yet I couldn't hold onto it.
