The warmth of the bathwater had faded from my skin, but my thoughts swirled hotter than ever.
I padded across the bedroom floor in a fresh robe, a towel wrapped around my damp hair, and stared at the soft moonlight spilling across the floor.
The day had been... intense.
Not just because Aiden decided to turn the living room into a boutiques just for me to shop without leaving the house.
Not because of the dinner or the rooftop view, or the way Aiden looked at me like I was the only thing anchoring him to this world, but because of what I was starting to feel.
And gods, I didn't want to admit it.
Not when our entire marriage was born from a ridiculous, impulsive contract, one I had agreed to when I was drunk and wasted, trying to escape the engagement thrown on me.
Not when there were still so many things unsaid.
