Chapter 134 - Chapter 134: The World Might As Well Be Surnamed After Your Family

Chapter 134: The World Might As Well Be Surnamed After Your Family

"Whoa! Today is really nice weather! Let's go for a stroll later."

Zoro stood at the window, gazing outside. Behind him was a long table, fully seated.

Sanji brought out platters of food. Luffy, dozing beside him, subconsciously grabbed food and put it into his mouth, like an automatic eating machine.

"I heard Galley-La Company has a swimming pool behind it."

Nami scooped up a spoonful of salad, turned to the figure beside her, and said, "Let's go swimming later, Robin."

Robin smiled faintly. "That's a good idea."

"Swimming!!!"

Hearing the keyword, Sanji's eyes turned into hearts. He instantly transformed into a love-struck fool and rushed over. "I'll prepare refreshments~~ Please allow me to serve you~~"

"Have you ever considered that you yourself are the one preventing your luck with women?"

Reiner looked at him speechlessly.

"Mah~ If he wasn't a pervert, he wouldn't be Sanji," Usopp chuckled from the side. "Or we could just wait for Chopper to invent a cure for perversion."

"Incurable."

Chopper shook his head helplessly. "Just like being directionally challenged, I'm powerless."

"Hahaha!"

"Is it very funny?" Veins popped on Zoro's forehead as he looked at them.

Just then, a commotion seemed to occur outside. A burst of noisy shouts drew their attention.

"What's that noise?"

Zoro had just turned his head when he saw, outside the window, a troop of Marines mposingly storming towards their location.

Seeing this, he immediately turned back to look at the others, his expression grave. "It's the Marines."

"Has our location been exposed? This is a bit troublesome."

Sanji frowned, his voice heavy. "The Going Merry is still under repair. We can only leave here first and hide for a few days."

"Too late! Run!"

Zoro suddenly yelled in panic. A figure wearing a dog-head hat pushed off the ground forcefully. He didn't even have time to react before his opponent was right in front of him.

BANG!!

The window, along with the entire wall, was blasted open. Zoro's body was sent flying instantly, crashing heavily into a corner.

"Zoro!"

"Who's there?!"

Everyone jumped up in alarm, poised to act, their gazes locked intently on the newcomer.

"So you're the ones called the Straw Hat Pirates, huh?"

A teasing voice came from under the dog-head hood. The tall figure stood behind the still-sleeping Luffy.

"ZZZ~~"

"Old Me came all this way, and this is how you greet me?"

Seeing Luffy, head tilted and still snoring, Garp's anger flared. He raised his fist and smashed it down directly, roaring:

"The sun's already baking your butt and you're still sleeping!? Wake up for me, brat!!"

BANG!!!

Luffy's head slammed hard onto the tabletop, snapping it in two. All the bowls and plates clattered and shattered on the floor.

Under this violent impact, he was forcefully yanked out of his slumber.

"So painful! Which bastard was that!?"

Luffy clutched his head, yelling indignantly. He whipped his head around, saw the newcomer clearly, and was instantly so scared his face turned green!

"What did you just call me?"

A red glint shone in Garp's eyes, like a ferocious beast. Behind him, it was as if a volcano was erupting.

"W-w-wait!! Just a moment!!"

Luffy collapsed onto the floor in panic, scrambling backward, cold sweat dripping from his forehead. "I was wrong! I'm sorry! Wait! Don't come over here!"

"Luffy actually apologized?!"

"Hey! Are you kidding me!?"

"He can actually feel fear?!"

Watching Luffy's reaction, the others looked as if they had seen a ghost, their expressions growing even warier.

ZING—!

Crackle-crackle-crackle!

Zoro immediately drew his swords and stood up. He and Sanji were about to charge forward. Nami, too, had electric sparks flashing around her body, ready for battle!

"Wait! You guys, stop!"

Luffy yelled, thrusting his arm out to block them, his eyes still filled with immense terror. "Absolutely do not fight him! You'll be beaten to pulp!"

Hearing this, Robin couldn't help but size up the opponent again.

"Don't tell me... he's that Marine Vice Admiral!"

The man's face suddenly overlapped with a certain figure in her memory!

"Marine Hero, Garp the Fist!"

"He's my grandpa!"

Luffy and Robin shouted loudly at the same time. The entire crew instantly froze on the spot.

They all tilted their heads, looking at Luffy with utterly baffled expressions.

"Eh?"

"Hm?"

"Huh?"

"You said he's..."

The next moment, everyone suddenly reacted, a wave of incredulous exclamations bursting forth!

"GRANDPA!!!"

"Hey Luffy! What on earth is going on!?"

Sanji gritted his teeth, looking at him. Is this guy friend or foe?

Who on this sea didn't know the name Garp the Fist? For decades, the two most widely circulated names were 'Roger' and 'Garp'; even three-year-olds had heard of them!

What gives!? Suddenly one of them is your grandpa!?

"So you still know Old Me is your grandpa, huh!?"

Garp furiously grabbed Luffy by the collar and lifted him up. "Look at the fine mess you've made! Bastard! All these years I've spent cultivating you! Forget not joining the Marines with me, you actually ran off to become a pirate!"

"Let go of me, bastard! Haven't I always said I want to be a pirate!?"

Luffy struggled continuously, tightly gripping the large hand on his chest, his legs dangling in the air, kicking at nothing.

"Still dare to talk back!? It was that Red-Hair brat who led you astray!"

Bang!

"Owww~ I'm sorry!"

"Still want to be a pirate, do you!?"

"I'm definitely going to become King of the Pirates!"

"Still unrepentant!"

Bang!

"Ouch!"

"Learned your lesson yet!?"

"I was wrong! But I'm definitely going to become King of the Pirates!"

Bang! Bang! Bang! Clang!

Watching this chaotic scene of domestic discipline, the others stood frozen on the spot, unsure what to do.

What a display of 'grandfatherly love and grandsonly responsibility'!

"Hey... is this okay?"

"Looks like there's a problem, but also like there isn't."

They didn't know how to react either. But since Luffy said not to fight, there probably wouldn't be any major issues, right?

BANG!!

Luffy's figure shot out straight, landing outside and smashing a deep crater in the ground.

"Hoo—"

After hammering Luffy until his head was covered in bumps, Garp finally let out a satisfied breath and grinned, shouting towards the outside.

"Ahahaha! Next up is your turn."

As his words fell, a white figure shot straight towards Luffy, simultaneously letting out an furious roar:

"Long time no see, Straw Hat!"

"That voice is!"

A familiar figure surfaced in Luffy's mind. He performed a kip-up, looked at the newcomer, and was instantly alarmed.

"Smoker!?"

"Looks like you still remember me!"

Smoker's lower body turned elemental, trailing billowing white smoke as he rushed before Luffy, his right arm bent back and then striking out fiercely.

His arm instantly transformed into smoke and shot out, a Haki-blackened fist smashing down violently!

"White Snake!"

BANG!!

The heavy punch landed squarely on Luffy's face, the powerful impact sending his entire body flying.

BOOM!!

Luffy rolled several times on the ground until he crashed into a wall and stopped, kicking up a cloud of dust.

"So painful!"

Pushing himself up from the ground with both hands, a trickle of blood he couldn't stop flowed from his nose. Luffy wiped it away, looked up at his opponent, and said with a grave expression:

"You bastard... you've gotten a lot stronger than before."

"I've put in quite a bit of effort training, all so I could arrest you with my own hands."

Smoker's voice was deep, his expression serious and unsmiling as usual. He raised his hand and drew the weapon from his back; his Haki wasn't proficient yet, and he was used to this jitte.

After all, against ability users, Seastone was much more effective than Haki.

"White Net!"

As he raised his hand, the dust kicked up by the earlier impact seemed to come alive, nimbly transforming and coiling around his opponent!

"White Launcher!"

Smoker's lower body once again transformed into smoke as he shot towards his opponent, jitte in hand!

"Wait! What the heck is this stuff!?"

Luffy struggled within the smoke. It was clearly smoke, yet it bound him as if it had physical form!

Seeing his opponent about to reach him, his legs, as if turning into pumps, stomped down hard, his skin rapidly turning red.

"Gear Second!"

Luffy pushed off the ground hard, his body finally breaking free from the smoke and vanishing from his spot.

When he reappeared, he was already beside his opponent, white steam rising from his entire body as he raised his palm, right hand held beside his chest.

"Gum-Gum Jet Pistol!"

His fist shot out rapidly, striking with a speed invisible to the naked eye.

However, the expected impact never came. It was as if a hole had been blasted through his opponent's body, the powerful force merely dispersing a few wisps of white smoke!

"Aaargh! This move again, bastard!"

Luffy was exasperated. He bent backward, dodging his opponent's swinging jitte, then with a 'whoosh', retreated backward.

"It's useless, Straw Hat!"

Smoker grinned savagely, the smoke from his cigars curling up to obscure half his face.

"Whether it's 500 million or a billion! Without mastering Haki, you can't possibly defeat me, a Logia user!"

"Looks like before entering the New World, you're still just a fledgling rookie pirate after all!"

"What are you talking about, bastard Smoker!"

Luffy yelled indignantly, "What rookie pirate!? I'm definitely going to become King of the Pirates!"

Bending his legs into a firm horse stance, his hands became a blur of motion, fists flying out like a torrential downpour!

"Gum-Gum Jet Gatling Barrage!"

The rapid, dense punches generated a powerful airflow. Although they couldn't threaten Smoker, the chaotic wind pressure made it difficult for his smoke to coalesce, even giving the feeling that he was gradually losing control.

"Bastard Straw Hat!"

"Bastard Smoker!"

"Your attacks are useless against me!"

Smoker charged towards the fists, his entire body rapidly being pummeled into smoke.

As the two drew closer and closer, Luffy also gritted his teeth, swinging his fists with all his might.

Until a powerful punch passed through the white thick smoke and struck directly onto the long jitte.

Crack!

A broken section plunged directly into the smoke. The Seastone tip embedded in it instantly made Smoker's entire body go limp, his elementalized body rapidly solidifying.

"Nani!"

BANG!!

Smoker's pupils contracted. Unable to even condense Haki, he could only watch helplessly as the red fist smashed into his abdomen!

"Puwah!"

He couldn't help but spray out a mouthful of blood. Smoker's body shot backward like an arrow loosed from its string, crashing straight into a group of Marine soldiers!

"Eh?"

Luffy paused, the white steam from his body gradually dissipating. "I can hit him again?"

"Pfft-hahahaha!!!"

Witnessing this scene, Reiner and Garp collapsed onto the ground, roaring with laughter!

"A talent! What a talent!"

Reiner almost choked from laughing so hard. "A Logia user! Carrying his only weakness around with him! How on earth did you teach him, old man!?"

"Wahahaha! This is killing me!"

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Garp was laughing so hard tears almost streamed down his face, his large hands continuously pounding the ground. "And I thought he could give that brat Luffy a good beating! Turns out... wahahaha!"

"Smelly old man! What's so funny!?"

Smoker, propping himself up on his elbows, his face dark, looked at the old man and young man in the distance who weren't being serious at all, his anger flaring.

"'Black Snake' Reiner!"

His gaze fell upon the other figure. Smoker gritted his teeth, transformed into smoke again, and charged forward.

"That shot you took at me last time! I remember it crystal clear!"

"Alright, Smoker. You can't beat him."

Garp gently raised a hand, stopping him, and laughed heartily. "You still need to go back and train your Haki properly. Come on in and have some tea."

"What tea are Marines and pirates supposed to drink together!?"

Smoker yelled angrily, his figure pausing in mid-air. He knew Garp wasn't here to arrest them this time.

But to have him sit together with pirates... Are you kidding me!?

"Aiya ya. Relax a little."

Garp leisurely walked back into the room. "Once or twice is nothing. In this regard alone, you and Aokiji are nothing alike."

"Hmph. I think he's the one who got corrupted by you."

Smoker slowly landed. He subconsciously reached to put his jitte back on his back, then suddenly paused, realizing only half of it remained.

"Tch!"

Clang!

He casually tossed the broken weapon aside and followed Garp inside resentfully.

Soon, a bizarre scene unfolded.

A pirate crew that had just committed a sensational incident was actually sitting around a table with several Marines led by the Marine Hero!

Regarding this scene, the Marines outside found it not strange at all. Garp went to Foosha Village on vacation every year; many who had followed Garp for years knew about this, and quite a few had even met Luffy.

They had long grown accustomed to how absurdly this Vice Admiral did things.

"Don't look so glum, Smoker."

Garp sat cross-legged at the table, smiling as he picked up a teacup. "Just consider today a day off."

"Give me a break, smelly old man."

Behind him, Smoker stood with his arms crossed, leaning against the wall, his expression serious. "That Aokiji fellow... only became so lazy because he spent too much time with you."

As he spoke, he shifted his gaze to Luffy and said gravely:

"Straw Hat. This time, on account of the Alabasta incident, I'll let it slide. Next time we meet, I will personally drag you to Impel Down!"

Luffy grinned cheekily in response. "Ah! Thanks for that then!"

"Tch!" Smoker turned his face away, saying no more.

"Speaking of which, Luffy... your grandpa is actually Garp the Fist!?"

Nami looked at him, puzzled. "How come you never mentioned it before?"

"Huh? Why mention him?"

Luffy picked his nose with a disgusted look. "He's just a short-tempered, smelly old man. I almost died at his hands several times back then..."

Through Luffy's words, the others finally learned about them appallingly brutal experiences of his childhood.

Garp, in the fine name of training him...

Don't say it... really, don't say it... He really did train him up.

"Sounds just like something you'd say."

Nami glanced again at Reiner beside her. "You seem to know Vice Admiral Garp too, right? Luffy aside, how come you never mentioned it either?"

"It's more fun this way," Reiner just smiled faintly. "If you know everything, adventure loses a lot of its charm."

"Ah! Right!"

Garp suddenly remembered something and said to Luffy, "Speaking of which, your dad told me before that he saw you off in Loguetown, didn't he?"

"Eh?"

Luffy listened, stunned, then tilted his head. "I have a dad?"

"Of course you have a dad, idiot!!"

Usopp couldn't help but yell, "Were you born from a rock or something!?"

"You know... it's not entirely impossible," Sanji said with a mock-serious expression.

"Uh... I don't know," Luffy scratched his head, looking puzzled.

However, it was Smoker, leaning against the wall behind, who spoke up first. "Well, I've met Dragon."

The fact that Dragon was once a Marine and also Garp's son was known to few in the Navy, but it wasn't a huge secret either.

"Speaking of which, your three generations are truly exaggerated."

Smoker exhaled a smoke ring and said coolly:

"Marines, Pirates, Revolutionary Army... your family has taken all three major world factions. In a couple of years, is the world going to be renamed after your family?"

"Revolutionary? Wait a minute!"

Robin was instantly stunned. "Don't tell me you're talking about... that Dragon, the leader of the Revolutionary Army?!"

"NANI!!!"

Thump!

A large number of people in the room instantly collapsed!

"Hey Luffy!"

Sanji, utterly shocked, grabbed him by the collar. "What's with that blank look!? Your dad is the leader of the Revolutionary Army!"

"What's what?"

Luffy continued picking his nose. "I don't know him. And what's a revolutionary? Aiya, so complicated! Forget it, whatever."

"WHATEVER?!"

Nami's eyes widened. "Do you have any idea how powerful your background is!?"

Is this the spirit of the Pirate King!?

With this background, if he could utilize it properly...

Oh... it's Luffy. Then yeah, forget it.

"Ai~~"

Nami sighed, shaking her head helplessly. "Clearly has such a strong background, yet this idiot has no idea how to use it at all."

This is just the tip of the iceberg, Reiner couldn't help thinking. You haven't even met his second uncle and second maternal uncle yet.

Once you enter the New World, there's still Red-Hair, with his 3 billion bounty, waiting for you.

"Mah~ That's why this idiot can be our captain, isn't it?"

Zoro was completely unconcerned by all this. If Luffy were that kind of person, he probably wouldn't have hit it off with Luffy back then.

"That's true."

Hearing this, the others also felt relieved and smiled faintly.

Reiner knew Luffy had, more or less, benefited from this network of connections, but what others wanted to do was their own business.

There were only so many top-tier powerhouses on the sea; who wasn't related to whom in some way, near or far? Kaido and Big Mom, as two Emperors of the Sea, could even join forces to deal with Supernovas just entering the New World.

At least Luffy himself had never thought of relying on these things. And precisely because of this simplicity – or foolishness, if you will – they firmly believed Luffy was the man who could become King of the Pirates.

"He's gathered quite a group of fine companions."

Garp chuckled, unable to help feeling emotional. "Looks like you're quite lucky, smelly brat."

"Heeheehee! Of course!"

Speaking of this, Luffy was extremely proud. "After all, they're the crew of the future King of the Pirates!"

BANG!!

"Hmph! Goodbye, brat! Old Me should be heading back too."

Garp gave him a "Fist of Love," then stood up with a dissatisfied look. "Let's go, Smoker. Still need to train more when we get back."

With that, Garp strode straight out the door. Smoker followed close behind. Before leaving, he turned back, looked coldly at Luffy, and said in a low voice:

"Next time we meet, you guys will probably have reached the New World. Wash your necks and wait, Straw Hat."

"The New World, huh? We won't be caught by you that easily!"

Luffy grinned widely. Only after they left did he turn and ask:

"New World... which island is that?"

Reiner: "."

"The Grand Line and the Red Line encircle the world perpendicularly to each other."

Reiner explained simply, "The Grand Line is divided in two. We are currently in the first half, known as 'Paradise'. 'New World' is what people call the second half."

"Soka!" (I see!)

Luffy smacked his fist into his palm. "Then our next target is the New World, right!?"

Usopp blinked. "Did you really understand that, Luffy?"

"Didn't understand!"

"I KNEW IT!!" Usopp yelled at the top of his lungs.

"However, Luffy isn't wrong," Reiner said in a low voice. "Our next target... is indeed the New World."

After Water 7, the Log Pose points towards...

Fish-Man Island! Located 10,000 meters under the sea, beneath the Red Line!

But first, they must pass through the mist-shrouded sea region—the Florian Triangle!

And also the Sabaody Archipelago, formed from the roots of the Yarukiman Mangrove!
