Chapter 83 - Chapter 83: Don't Interrupt My Showing Off

Chapter 83: Don't Interrupt My Showing Off

"Blue Sea people! What is the meaning of this!?"

Seeing the opponent actually send a little girl out to face him, Shura couldn't help but feel enraged. "Ignorant fools! Don't think I will show mercy just because you're a little girl!"

"You don't need to force yourselves!" Gan Fall held his lance, jumped onto Pierre, frowned deeply, and stared intently at Shura.

"Old Me may be advanced in years, but I am still worthy of the title Sky Knight! Since I accepted your payment, I naturally must fulfill the corresponding respons— Hey, wait a minute! What is this!?"

Before he could finish speaking, several thin snakes composed of sand grains rose from thin air, directly twining around Gan Fall and Pierre, binding them tightly.

No matter how hard Gan Fall struggled, he couldn't break free. He gritted his teeth and growled, "Damn it! What on earth is this stuff!?"

"Don't be hasty, old man," Reiner stated coolly. "Just leave it to her. Don't interrupt my showing off."

Hearing this, Gan Fall felt the sand snakes locking him tightly, then looked at the fine sand swirling around the staff in Frieren's hand. He couldn't help but feel secretly alarmed.

He knew about the power of Devil Fruits and had some guesses about the sand snakes, but how effectively a Devil Fruit could be used depended entirely on the user.

He couldn't break free even using all his strength, which indirectly proved the opponent's power completely surpassed his own. And just from a little girl?

Gan Fall's gaze shifted again to Shura in the sky. Looks like they truly don't need Old Me's help.

"One hundred points, huh? Truly incomprehensible." Shura grinned savagely, riding his vulture down in a dive.

"Mere Blue Sea people! What rank are you to have the same score as me!?"

The vulture opened its beak, a cluster of sparks appearing. The next moment, flames surged out, a heat wave washing over them as a pillar of fire carrying terrifying high temperatures shot towards the crew on the Merry.

"Fire breath?"

"Is it a Devil Fruit user?"

The others didn't intervene. Since Reiner had emphasized letting him handle it, they left it to him.

Frieren leaped into the air towards the fire pillar, plunging headfirst into the flames without hesitation—

"Hahaha! My beloved pet is named Pantui!" Shura laughed sinisterly, looking down coldly from above.

"Its mouth is equipped with a Flame Dial! In just a few seconds, she'll be burned to ashes! Pay the price for your arrogance, fool!"

"When it comes to playing with fire, you're still far too lacking," Reiner replied, unconcerned.

Just then, the surging pillar of fire, like flowing water blocked by rocks, suddenly dispersed on either side of Frieren, transforming into numerous small flames floating in mid-air.

Shura seemed to sense something and yelled frantically, "Dodge quickly!"

The next moment, all the flames transformed into flying swallows, shooting towards him like bullets. A dense flock of fire swallows battered the vulture's body.

The diving vulture cried out in pain, its momentum halting. It let out a piercing shriek, flapping its large wings desperately to move sideways and escape the flock of fire swallows.

"Pantui, are you okay!?"

Shura gritted his teeth, his expression grave as he fixed his gaze on Frieren. "Why was it hit? My Mantra clearly sensed the attack!"

"And... she can actually control fire!" Shura rode his vulture, circling the Merry docked at the altar, staring intently at Frieren, immense wariness in his eyes.

Witnessing this, the way Gan Fall looked at the group changed entirely. Could they possess Mantra as well?

"I say, old man."

Reiner walked towards Gan Fall, dispelling the sand snakes binding them. "You can use Observation Haki, right?"

"You mean Mantra, yes? Old Me can indeed use it," Gan Fall replied, looking up. Having lived so long and encountered many Blue Sea people, he knew Mantra was called Observation Haki in the Blue Sea.

"Then couldn't you sense our strength?" Reiner asked, puzzled. In his memory, Observation Haki could sense the strength of an enemy's presence.

"I could vaguely sense your auras; stronger than ordinary people, indeed, but not specifically."

Gan Fall explained, "Can only say Old Me's training is lacking. At least, if you're not in a combat state, that's the most Old Me can do."

"Meaning, depending on our state, the presence you sense changes accordingly?" Reiner rubbed his chin thoughtfully.

"Yes," Gan Fall confirmed, then added, "Of course, it also relates to the level of Mantra training. The stronger the Mantra, the more one can perceive."

"Mm, roughly understand." Reiner had a definite idea now. He took out the letter from before and glanced at it; it listed the points for his crew.

Among them, the five marked as one hundred points were... everyone except the Cowardly Trio; Reiner naturally included.

Meaning Enel's Observation Haki isn't just vast in range, but also quite strong in intensity. Otherwise, it's impossible he could know our approximate strengths instantly.

As for Chopper... probably because he was in 'pet' state, his strength was misjudged. Reiner looked again towards Shura fighting Frieren.

The opponent, relying on his vulture mount, continuously evaded Frieren's flames. Even so, both rider and bird were already covered in burn marks.

The large vulture had lost quite a few feathers, revealing scorched black, bloody flesh underneath.

"Damn it! Can't win like this!" Shura's face darkened.

He had grossly underestimated this little girl's strength. And strangely, although his Mantra could sense her attacks, he simply couldn't dodge them.

Every evasion seemed anticipated by her; attacks always landed precisely where he was dodging towards. And even stranger!

"This one... something's very wrong," Shura growled through gritted teeth, eyes locked intensely on Reiner. His Mantra constantly sensed hostility radiating from him.

But he had no time to think. Another pillar of fire shot straight towards him, its speed and range causing his heart to pound with fear.

Dealing with the enemy before him already left no room for distraction, and her leisurely posture made it seem like she was just toying with him.

Shura gritted his teeth, a resolute glint flashing in his eyes. "Pantui! I'm counting on you, old friend!"

The purple vulture shrieked, tucked its wings sharply, and its speed suddenly surged. Ignoring the sea of fire, it shot straight like an arrow towards Frieren.

Shura lay flat on its back, using Pantui's body as much as possible for cover. After flying through the flames, he pushed off the vulture's back with both feet!

Holding the lance, now glowing red-hot from the fire, Shura leaped towards Frieren with determined eyes. Just as she was about to raise her hand...

"I am the Priest presiding over the Ordeal of String! I've been setting up Rope Cloud throughout the field this whole time!"

Shura pulled hard with his other hand. Rope Clouds, so fine they were nearly invisible to the naked eye, suddenly contracted towards Frieren. He grinned savagely, "Didn't expect this, did you!? This is my real trump card!"

"Damn it!" Seeing this, even Gan Fall panicked instantly. "Old Me forgot to warn you!"

The opponent's Rope Cloud was not only nearly invisible but also possessed great toughness and cutting ability. Getting entangled meant escape was difficult.

"Doesn't matter."

Reiner remained unconcerned. Just as the myriad fine ropes approached Frieren, they instantly flashed with dazzling firelight, all the cloud ropes seemingly spontaneously combusting with a sizzle.

Snap! Snap! Snap!

Before Shura's panicked eyes, the taut cloud ropes snapped and broke apart one by one. Sections of fine rope scattered like embers, resembling a grand and brilliant fireworks display.

"How is this possible!?" Shura watched this scene unfold, incredulous. The soaring flames covered almost the entire wide area, burning away all the cloud ropes he had laid out in one go...

This scale of fire, like a natural disaster... it was just like God Enel himself!

"Damn it!"

Shura's face twisted darkly. Combined with the burns sticking his clothes to his bloody flesh, he looked like a demon crawled straight out of hell.

Shura glared viciously at Frieren. Run away? Regain strength and find another chance later?

No! Useless! His condition couldn't possibly recover within three days and two nights.

He had to get one hundred points to gain the qualification to follow God Enel to the Endless Earth!

Otherwise, it was death either way!

Shura's face contorted ferociously. Gripping the lance tightly with both hands, he descended from the sky, aiming straight down at Frieren to stab her viciously.

This lance was equipped with a Heat Dial! As long as it hit, the high temperature could scorch the enemy's body from the inside out!

As long as it hits!

"Die!!"

Frieren coldly raised her staff. Several thick streams of fire, like giant pythons carrying terrifying heat, lunged towards Shura, opening their fanged maws to tear him apart.

BOOM!!!

Soaring flames accompanied by a violent explosion erupted. From within the giant fireball, Shura's charred black, battered figure tumbled out.

His orange flight suit was tattered beyond recognition. Smoke curled from his mouth and various parts of his body. His eyes were vacant; he had clearly lost consciousness.

Thump!

With Shura crashing to the ground, this sudden, brief battle officially concluded.

"How... so easily..." Gan Fall stared in shock at Frieren standing on the ship's rail. "Defeating a Priest... in just the span of a few sentences."

The vast sea of fire gradually dissipated under Frieren's control. Raising her hand created a sea of fire; waving it away made it vanish instantly.

This scene, like a natural disaster, was virtually indistinguishable from Enel's power.

Gan Fall stared blankly at the small figure – white hair in twin tails, a round face that looked harmless, even somewhat cute.

Yet, this being could defeat a Priest in an instant. Thinking this, Gan Fall's face filled with hesitation. An idea couldn't help but arise in his mind.

Thump!

Gan Fall knelt heavily on the deck, lowered his head, clenching his jaw tightly. "Old Me wishes!"

"Old Me wishes to ask you..."

He clenched his fists tightly, veins popping out. The words reached his lips, yet he found them impossibly hard to speak.

Deep within God's Land...

"Shura's voice has vanished. One Priest has been defeated."

Enel leaned back on his golden throne, eyes lazy, voice cold and emotionless, completely unconcerned about his subordinate's defeat.

"How is that possible!? It's only the first day!"

Hearing this, the Divine Soldier Captain kneeling on the ground abruptly lifted his head, yelling in disbelief. "Shura presided over the Ordeal of String, the one with the lowest survival rate!"

"Nothing is impossible. He simply lacked God's favor," Enel replied with a mocking expression. "The first person to obtain one hundred points has already appeared. How interesting. It's quite boring here too... might as well go play..."
