FEW MINUTES LATER
"He's coming, I'll get going first," Sofiya grabbed her bag as she stood up.
"Wait, you can't leave me here"
"Yes, I can. Meet me in class when you're both done with your talk," she smirked.
"Sofiya don't-" She ran away, and when I turned around, I saw Leonard walking towards me.
I felt my heart race.
My hands were on my lap as I suddenly felt nervous...I had to confess to him before he said anything.
I watched as he sat opposite me looking so handsome than when we last met.
But why hasn't he contacted me in days? Did I upset him?
"H-hi"
"Amelia...we need to talk"
I was stunned, there was no 'hi', no 'hello', no 'how are you? '
What was I even expecting
"I'll go first," I said and he raised an eyebrow.
"I mean I want to say something first"
He stared at me.
I took a deep breath. "I, uh, first of all, I want to apologize for my behavior that night...'I promise not to ever do it again, I was just-"
"There's never going to be an 'again' Amelia" I watched as he took a deep breath.
"Huh?"
"Listen to me Amelia, I just came to tell you that-"
"I'm in love with you!" I raised my voice
I could see the look of astonishment in his eyes and the glances that customers threw our way.
"What?" he furrowed his brows
"I- I like you...I know this sounds strange but I can't help how I feel anymore...and I know you feel the same-"
"I don't" he clenched his jaw.
He didn't? He didn't feel the same way?
"it's impossible between us Amelia, I regret everything we've both done together...from the very beginning," he looked up at me.
"I let myself get lost with you and- and I never realized the age gap between us...I've been such a fool, Amelia"
I felt the tears in my eyes threatening to fall. But I tried my best to hold it in.
"I just wanted to tell you...whatever our relationship is, it has to end right now Amelia...and I mean it"
Only I knew how hard I fought back my tears from falling...only I knew the pain I felt at the moment...have I also been a fool? Falling for someone twice my age...
"You're a very lovely young woman, Amelia, you can't waste your precious years on me...I'm just 38 years"
I was silent as I stared at him.
"I'm very sorry if this came as a surprise, but I think I need to put some distance between us" he stood up abruptly.
The way he clenched his fists didn't go unnoticed by my eyes.
"And...I hope we never get to see each other anymore" With that he walked away, out of the café.
A shuddering breath escaped my lips.
He was just joking, right? He didn't mean what he just said right? I know he feels the same way, right?
His words rang in my ears.
'I hope we never get to see each other anymore' What did he mean when he said that? He didn't want to see me anymore...he now despises me? What exactly did I do wrong?
I stared into blank space until I heard my phone ring. I sniffled as I wiped my tears before picking up the call.
"Girl, where are you? The class has just begun!"
"Yes yes, I'm on my way" I grabbed my bag as I stood up, paid for the coffee, and left.
While I was walking down the hallway to class, I could see other students still lurking around, until someone bumped into me on purpose causing my bag to fall to the ground and everything in my bag fell to the floor.
"Oh! Who do we have here?" I knew who that voice belonged to... it was Stephanie again...I didn't know why my ex-best friend hated me so much even when she slept with my ex-boyfriend...what exactly did she want from me?
I ignored her as I picked up my personal belongings on the floor into my bag...I didn't have the time to exchange words with her.
She clenched her fists when she noticed I wasn't reacting to her, so she picked up the red scarf that fell out of my bag.
"This seems like a keepsake from someone huh?" she smirked at me as she fiddled with the scarf.
"So soft-"
"Give it back"
"And what if I don't?"
"I don't have the time to argue with you Stephanie" I glared at her...that scarf was given to me by Leonard...and now the crazy bitch wants to play with it? No, not happening.
"Stephanie I said give it back"
She looked at me as she threw it on the floor and....stepped on it...I could see the dirty stains of her shoe visible on the red scarf.
I could feel anger boiling on the inside of me...how dare she? Who the fuck does she think she is!
"See? That's the reaction I was waiting for...you're such a pathetic bitch-"
I slapped her across the face...everyone gasped watching us.
Her eyes widened in shock as she held her face looking at me.
"Did you just-"
I slapped her again
"How dare you! How fucking dare you Amelia!"
I forcefully pushed her onto the floor as I continued slapping the hell out of her.
"YOU BITCH!!" I cursed at her
"Get off me Amelia!!" she screamed as I slapped her hard against her reddened face and then.
"BAM!"
I was seated in the principal's office.
"Miss Amelia, your actions today were indeed shocking to the whole school and also to me," Principal Martin said with a stern look on his face.
"What has gotten into you? You used to be a very sweet girl-"
"Not anymore Principal Martins. I'm not a child but a woman who should take responsibility for her actions"
"Your behavior today has landed your course mate to be admitted to the hospital"
"I couldn't care less...I would have beaten the hell out of her when I had the chance" I snarled
"Miss Amelia-"
"So what If you expel me from this college...I swear to God if I were to ever see Stephanie around me again, I wouldn't bat an eye when I'll be locked up in the prison cell!" I stood up abruptly.
His eyes widened in shock.
"What-"
"How dare you even try to question me without questioning her also huh? Is this some sort of joke?" I interrupted him.
"I wasn't in a good mood today but seeing her even made it worse"
"You should ask what she did before you question me, Principal Martins"
"And just so you know, Stephanie has been messing around with me for a very long time now and today just happened to be the right day to vent all my anger on her..so yes! She fucking deserves it"
