"I must admit, my power has increased significantly," Kojou murmured as he stared at his Guild Card. Though the card didn't reflect the changes in his magical and physical strength, Kojou could feel the explosive power within him—far greater than what he'd possessed before killing Verethragna.
"But seriously, Pandora was incredibly kind to sacrifice the useless Authorities for me, removing the restrictions on the Authorities I inherited." Kojou smiled happily, recalling his encounter with the purple-haired, green-eyed loli girl.
After killing Verethragna in a single strike, Kojou awoke in the Netherworld, where he met Pandora—the so-called "All-Giving Woman." She granted him Verethragna's Authorities, which he was highly compatible with, allowing him to inherit all of Verethragna's abilities. However, the numerous annoying restrictions led Pandora to suggest he choose which Authorities to keep. She would sacrifice the others to help reduce the restrictions. Thus, Kojou selected only these Authorities and discarded the rest, as they held little value.
Currently, Kojou was staying in Japan while the Copper-Black Cross organization scoured the world for Grimoires capable of summoning a specific Heretic God—all under Kojou's orders, as the Copper-Black Cross had sworn loyalty to him alongside Erica.
For Kojou, who'd been forced to study myths about gods and heroes due to his father's work, most deities and heroes held little appeal. However, there was one existence in these myths that intrigued him. This was a perfect opportunity to meet—and fight—him. Even if this god wasn't as powerful as the legends claimed, killing him would still yield great rewards.
Thus, Kojou idled his time in Japan, where his younger adoptive brother, Godou, resided. Godou had encountered Poseidon during his return to Japan and managed to kill him using a fragment of Gungnir—an heirloom from their grandfather.
"By the way, could you introduce yourself, beautiful miss?" Kojou raised an eyebrow inquisitively, staring at the third person seated at the breakfast table.
His description wasn't wrong. The girl was breathtakingly beautiful, with silver hair and purple eyes. Though young, her age only amplified her charm, evoking a protective instinct.
"My name is Athena," the girl said expressionlessly. "What is your name, Godslayer?"
"Kojou. Akatsuki Kojou," he replied, sipping hot chocolate without reacting to her identity. "So, why have I been graced with your visit so early in the morning?"
"What I seek is the serpent," Athena said, picking up a piece of rolled egg and eating it—seemingly enjoying human food. "So, what will you do, Akatsuki Kojou? Will you hand over the Gorgoneion, or must we fight?"
"Gorgoneion? I don't mind giving it to you," Kojou said indifferently, despite Erica having briefed him on The Starless Night. "But in return, I want your help obtaining a certain Grimoire. I'll give you the Gorgoneion once you fulfill my request."
"Which Grimoire do you desire, Akatsuki Kojou?" Athena asked, implicitly agreeing to his proposal.
"The Feather of the First Fallen Angel in Existence," Kojou stated solemnly, locking eyes with her. "Can you bring me what I want?"
"Are you insane, Akatsuki Kojou?" Athena's voice betrayed fear, though she quickly regained composure. "But then again, if you weren't insane, you wouldn't have become a Campione."
Indeed, Kojou's target was Lucifer—the first fallen angel, the Emperor of Hell, the traitor who rebelled against his creator.
"So, do you accept this deal or not?" Kojou asked, grinning in amusement. He hadn't expected even Heretic Gods to fear Lucifer.
"Very well. I'll help you obtain what you desire," Athena nodded, a thrilled smile spreading across her face. "It'll be entertaining to witness your battle with that man before I regain my true form."
"Make sure you keep your promise, Akatsuki Kojou," Athena said before vanishing, though her voice echoed in the room. "I look forward to a splendid show. Do not disappoint me, Godslayer."
"..." Kojou said nothing, smiling confidently. Since becoming a Campione, his pride and self-assurance had grown immensely. It was said that Campiones were forged from pride—and this certainly applied to Kojou, whose arrogance had skyrocketed since his ascension.
