"I see... So this is what happened." — Nagisa said after Kojou explained everything to her from beginning to end. It wasn't just about yesterday's events but also what had happened four years ago and three months prior, though she hadn't fully regained her memories of it.
"So does that mean I'm Kojou-kun's bride?" — Nagisa asked, her face showing... happiness and excitement? as she stared at Kojou.
"Well, yeah, that's right." — Kojou nodded unconsciously. Since Blood Servants were a vampire's wives, and Nagisa had become his Blood Servant, she was essentially his wife now. "Wait—why is that what you focus on?! Aren't you scared of me? I promised to protect you, but I still haven't kept that promise!"
"I've become Kojou-kun's wife..." — Nagisa mumbled happily, cupping her cheeks in her hands. She didn't seem to hear the rest of his words.
"..." — Kojou stared at her, speechless. Even though they were no longer blood-related since he became part of the Kaleid Bloodline, something still felt wrong to him. Nagisa was still his little sister at heart—if not for the circumstances, he never would've made her his Blood Servant.
"Nagisa... do you really not hate me? Or feel disgusted by me?" — Kojou asked with a darkened expression. He couldn't believe her reaction and half-expected she was pretending just to spare his feelings.
"Why would I hate or feel disgusted by Kojou-kun?" — Nagisa tilted her head in genuine confusion.
"Why?! Because I couldn't protect you despite my promise! And on top of that, I turned you into my Blood Servant even though you're my little sister!" — Kojou's face was filled with shame and self-loathing.
"Don't blame yourself, Kojou-kun." — Nagisa gently hugged him. "Even if I'm scared of demons, that doesn't mean I'd ever be scared of you. I know better than anyone how much you've loved and protected me all these years."
"As for becoming your Blood Servant... I'm happy about it. I've dreamed of being Kojou-kun's bride since we were kids, and that feeling hasn't changed." — Her face flushed slightly, embarrassed by her own confession. "So stop hating yourself like this. I'll really get mad if you keep blaming yourself!"
"...Alright." — After a moment's hesitation, Kojou nodded and hugged her back. The warmth of Nagisa's embrace soothed his turbulent mind—he'd been terrified she would despise him.
"By the way... do you want to postpone our outing for later?" — Kojou asked as he pulled away. Though he wanted her to rest, he also hoped taking her out might lift her spirits.
"No, let's go today!" — Nagisa quickly jumped out of bed. "So I'll get ready now, and you should hurry up too!"
"Are you sure? Don't force yourself if you're not up to it. We can go another time." — Kojou said as Nagisa began pushing him out of her room.
"I'm really fine! Now go change, quick!" — With that, she shoved him out and shut the door.
The moment the door closed, Nagisa collapsed against it, clutching her burning face in her hands.
'I told Kojou-kun how I feel!!' — She screamed internally, her entire face red. She'd never expected the day would come when she could confess those feelings—she'd planned to bury them in her heart forever.
"Alright, but don't take too long." — Kojou called from the other side of the door before heading to his own room to change.
"A date with Kojou-kun..." — Nagisa mumbled with a giddy smile, scrambling to pick out clothes and put on makeup to get ready.
———
"What the hell am I supposed to do now...?" — Kojou groaned, rubbing his temples as a headache flared up just thinking about his current situation.
"How am I supposed to explain the Nagisa situation to Asagi...?" — He muttered. Asagi was his official girlfriend—though she hadn't given a proper "confession," she'd agreed to date him. And while she'd technically approved of him having a harem, they'd only been together for a few days. They hadn't even gone on a single date yet! "And I still haven't told Nagisa I'm dating Asagi either..."
The sheer absurdity of his predicament made Kojou feel like his head was about to explode.
"For now, I need to focus on taking care of Nagisa." — After some thought, he decided Nagisa was the priority. She needed comfort after everything that had happened. "As for Asagi... I'll talk to her about it during our date in two days."
He and Asagi had agreed to go out on Friday—two days from now. Since Kojou had make-up exams, he planned to explain everything to Asagi after their date. Depending on her reaction, he'd then tell Nagisa about dating Asagi. He could only hope things would go smoothly...
With his plan set, Kojou opened his closet and pulled out a simple black jeans-and-T-shirt combo. The shirt had a minimalistic purple-black design.
"I really need to buy some better clothes..." — He sighed at his outdated wardrobe but put them on anyway. They weren't terrible compared to the rest of his closet.
