Zara didn't know what she was expecting, but it wasn't this.
Inside the crumbling chapel, surrounded by broken pews and forgotten scriptures, Roland and Hannah didn't waste time on pleasantries. They moved fast—haunted eyes, shaking hands—and everything they did screamed desperation.
Roland opened the folder.
It was a collection of printed photographs—high-quality, grainy in some, terrifyingly clear in others. The first one was of Kai, dressed in an all-black outfit with his signature wristwatch glinting in the moonlight. He was standing beside a burning car.
"That's our vehicle," Roland said. "The one we used to escape Imperiopolis after the scandal."
Zara stared. "What…?"
"He torched it. After following us for two days straight," Hannah added. "This was before Bertha went missing. Before everything."
Zara's throat tightened. "You said you were threatened…"
