Chapter 17 - 2025:15

Jae-wook was eating an apple when he heard footsteps behind him. He looked back to see Ha-ru holding his phone against his ear as he looked around confused.

His lips tightened at the sight in front of him. It had been so long since he had someone over the last time he did Ha-ru walked out of the door both their hearts racing and anger overtaking and clouding their thoughts.

He had thought he wouldn't see that sight again yet there he was staring at something he had thought to be impossible. As he looked at him he realised he didn't know as much about Ha-ru as he had thought. He didn't consider Ha-ru to be interested in entering the entertainment industry when he found out from Alice he didn't know how to react.

Maybe he did make sense that night that they weren't compatible enough. That he didn't make an effort to go beyond, leaving only Ha-ru to pick up the pieces.

He didn't know how to handle him. He had never been in that situation before. He had never had such intense feelings of conflict for someone as much as he did for Ha-ru.

Ha-ru walked barefoot towards the open plan sitting area still looking around confused by his surroundings. Then as if he stopped in his tracks. He stood still and his eyes traced up Jae-wooks form. A look of shock and uncertainty filling his eyes.

Then as soon as it came it disappeared and instead was the familiar blank look. The blank look he gave Jae-wook for the first ten times since they met. Then he slowly melted and he saw his true form. His smile. His laughter. He hadn't been like anything he had imagined. He had thought he was one of those nonchalant people as his aunt described him but he was far from it.

Now the thought of it sent a wave of pain though his heart as he swallowed and looked away.

"Would you like breakfast?" He asked as he drunk some water while making sure to avoid eyecontact.

"I have to be on set." Ha-ru said clutching onto his phone. His eyes wavered around uncomfortably as he bit his lip.

"Do you want to go while stinking it gives a bad impression. " Jae-wook stated unconsciously.

Ha-ru instinctively held up his shirt and smelled it and sure enough he did smell of musk from the previous night.

"I..."

"I will offer you some clothes just take a shower." Jae-wook offered his eyes still avoiding Ha-ru.

"Thank you." Ha-ru rushed back into the room he had come from.

Jae-wook stared at the room before he realised what he ahd done. He couldn't believe he himself had offered to help Ha-ru. That was against his rule.

He had previously made up his mind to send him on his way as soon as he woke up but there he was giving him suggestions on how to look presentable and even go the point of offering his own clothes.

He did a faceplate as he let out a sigh. He banged his head slightly on the counter as he cursed at himself.

Just as he was in the process of bumping his head the guest room door opened and Ha-ru peaked out. Jae-wook instantly regained his composure as soon as he heard the door open.

"The towel." Ha-ru stated uncertainly as he tried to ignore what had happened to both save them of embarrassment.

"The wardrobe. " Jae-wook stated while clearing his throat.

"Thanks. " with that he quickly closed the door behind him leaving Jae-wook alone once again.

Jae-wook closed his eyes as he let the second had embarrassment sink in. He run his hand through his hair before walking towards his room.

He picked out some casual wear and laid them out for Ha-ru.

After he made a simple breakfast. He wasn't much of a cook but he wasn't necessarily bad either. He just didn't have enough time to spend in the kitchen.

Just then his phone rung.

"Hello." He said while cutting an apple into slices.

"Are you still coming? Or should I pick you up?" Mr Kim asked through the phone.

"I dint think I will be able to make it today something important came up could you please send my regards though."

He heard a sigh on the other end before the manager silently agreed before cutting the phone call.

Today had coincidentally been his day off there weren't any schedules that held him by contract for his attendance. He had planned to go for a class reunion later that day but seeing Ha-ru made him change his mind.

He didn't know when he would get this opportunity again.

Although he knew he shouldn't but he found himself being over backwards and fulfilling his selfish desire.

"Does it look okay?" Ha-ru asked as he looked a the large mirror in the living room.

Jae-wook had been so invested in his thoughts he hadn't seen Ha-ru walk out of the room.

"Yah." Jae-wook stated his voice a little hoarse as he looked at the sight in front of him and a small voice in the back of his mind told him this was a bad idea. That he should abort before things got any deeper.

But Jae-wook wanted to test just how far he could go and the sight in front of him didn't help things either. He remembered Ha-ru coming to the apartment with only the clothes on his back. He would spend the weekend and wear his clothes they used to fit so loosely on him. Now they were much tighter.

Ha-ru pressed up the sleeves of the hoodie he was wearing and sat down on one of the chairs on the counter. He got out his phone from his pocket and scrawled before placing it on the counter.

He pulled the plates of eggs closer as well as the fruits. Just as jae-woook was about to protest Ha-ru took a large bite making Jae-wook stop.

He looked at him in shock as the scene unfolded before him.

Jae-wooks eyes landed on the sleeves.

Ha-ru didn't fold up his sleeves. He said it ruined the clothes. He didn't eat eggs. He thought they were disgusting and used to highlight how the chickens were treated cruelly in rearing farms. He didn't even eat chicken despite his mother owning a restaurant.

"What is it?" Ha-ru asked his mouth a bit stuffed with food as he stared at Jae-wook.

"Nothing...." Jae-wook stated unconsciously.

Ha-ru being in a hurry shrugged it off and continued eating.

"I have a favour to ask. Do you have a car?" Ha-ru asked as he gulped down his juice.

"Why?" Jae-wook asked.

"Well you see I am late and your place is pretty far so could you give me a ride to a bus station or something. "

"Sure ....." Jae-wook stated unconsciously still in a daze at the sight in front of him.

Had it really been that ling since he had seen him that he had changed so much?

"Let's go." Ha-ru stated jumping off the seat and grabbing his bag before rushing towards the door.

"Hurry." He called out informally as he wore his shoes.

Jae-wook shook his head and grabbed his keys leaving the breakfast he had set for Ha-ru sitting untouched on the island.

As they stood in the elevator going down to the basement one thing Jae-wook knew for certain.

This wasn't his Ha-ru.
