Chapter 41 - Chapter 40: You Are Obito, Then Who Am I?

"You're welcome."

Shinomiya Uzumaki responded casually, then bent down and picked up Sasuke from the ground, preparing to carry him away.

Just then, the space around them distorted. A swirling vortex of time and space materialized, spitting out Uchiha Obito and Kakashi.

Obito emerged first, gripping an unconscious Kakashi by the collar, dragging him forward like a ragdoll.

Kakashi was in bad shape—his body covered in blood, his breathing shallow, and most notably, one of his eyes was missing.

"Shinomiya, help me out and save this idiot," Obito said, tossing Kakashi onto the ground unceremoniously.

Ignoring Obito's casual tone, Shinomiya Uzumaki narrowed his eyes and walked over, kneeling beside Kakashi to assess his injuries.

After a quick inspection, his expression darkened.

"How did this happen?" he asked, his voice carrying a hint of concern.

Kakashi wasn't just injured—he had lost an eye. And judging by the remnants of residual chakra, it was his Mangekyō Sharingan.

Had the masked man taken it? That was bad news. If the masked man had both Kamui eyes now, his power would be on an entirely different level.

Obito sighed and shrugged. "It's a long story. Let's save this guy first—he's hanging on by a thread."

"Naruto, come here," Shinomiya Uzumaki called out.

Naruto, who had been standing nearby, turned his head in confusion. "Huh? What is it, Shinomiya?"

"Give him some Nine-Tails chakra," Shinomiya instructed, gesturing toward Kakashi. "It'll help him heal faster."

Naruto nodded. He extended his hand, releasing a surge of orange chakra. As the warm energy wrapped around Kakashi, his complexion gradually improved, the color returning to his face.

Seeing the immediate effect, Shinomiya nodded in satisfaction.

"Good. His life is no longer in danger. He just needs to get to the hospital now," he concluded.

"I'll take care of it," Minato Namikaze volunteered.

Without wasting another second, Minato scooped Kakashi up in his arms and disappeared in a flash.

Once the matter was settled, Shinomiya Uzumaki turned back to Obito, his curiosity piqued.

"Alright, Obito, explain—what the hell happened?"

Obito took a deep breath and started his story.

Ten Minutes Earlier

Somewhere outside Konoha, under the dim moonlight, a masked man moved stealthily through the village. His steps were silent, his presence barely detectable.

His goal? The Uchiha cemetery.

"Something feels off," the masked man muttered under his breath. "Is this an illusion, or is it real?"

The moment he had seen Nohara Rin in Konoha, his mind had gone blank. He couldn't shake the feeling that something was terribly wrong.

Rin had died years ago. That was an undeniable fact.

Yet the girl he saw looked exactly the same as she did back then.

The more he thought about it, the more his heart wavered.

What if… just what if she really was alive?

His fingers twitched slightly. He had to confirm it with his own eyes.

But before he could take another step—

"Oi, you. What are you sneaking around for?"

A voice rang out, stopping him in his tracks.

His heart clenched. That voice… it was his.

Slowly, the masked man turned around—and his eyes widened in shock.

Standing before him was Uchiha Obito.

For a moment, the masked man's mind went blank. He stiffened as he stared at Obito's face, the exact same face he saw in the mirror.

It wasn't just similar—it was identical.

The masked man clenched his fists, his breath coming out ragged.

What kind of joke was this?

How was he standing here while also being over there?

His emotions spiraled out of control.

"Damn it!" He could barely contain his anger.

Before Obito could react, the masked man attacked—hurling a sharpened wooden stake straight at his doppelgänger.

However, something unexpected happened.

The stake passed through Obito as if he were a ghost.

"...What?" The masked man's eyes widened in disbelief.

Obito, unfazed, tilted his head. "Was that really necessary? I just asked who you were."

The masked man's heart pounded. How does he know how to use Kamui?!

Obito smirked. "What's the big deal? It's just my Mangekyō Sharingan ability."

The masked man's gaze snapped to Obito's eyes, and he nearly lost his footing.

Those were his eyes.

Or rather, they were identical to his Mangekyō Sharingan—but with a key difference.

"...The Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan," he whispered, barely able to believe what he was seeing.

This wasn't a mere copy.

This was real.

And somehow, Obito's eyes had reached a level far beyond his own.

The masked man's breath hitched.

Who is this guy?

For the first time in a long time, he felt genuine fear.

But fear quickly turned into rage.

"No matter who you are, I'll find out once I crush you!"

He raised his hand, summoning chains from the void, and lashed them toward Obito.

Obito smirked. "How predictable."

With a flick of his wrist, his Mangekyō Sharingan activated—distorting space and tearing the chains apart mid-air.

The masked man gritted his teeth.

He could use Kamui remotely too?!

"Let's stop wasting time," Obito said casually. "Let's fight for real."

The masked man quickly formed a series of hand signs. His chakra surged, preparing a deadly attack.

However—

Obito had already begun forming the exact same seals.

Only faster.

The masked man's heart stopped.

He's copying my jutsu?!

But before he could react, a roaring inferno erupted from Obito's mouth.

"Fire Style: Storm Dance!"

A spiraling vortex of fire surged forward, twisting with space-time distortions, creating a storm of flames that closed in on the masked man.

The masked man's eyes flickered. He had also finished forming his own Fire Style jutsu.

With a deep breath, he unleashed his own attack.

"Fire Style: Storm Dance!"

The two identical infernos collided in a devastating explosion of fire and space-time distortion.

KABOOM!

A violent shockwave tore through the area, sending debris flying. The sheer heat from the flames scorched the ground, turning the battlefield into a fiery wasteland.

Kakashi, who had been observing the fight, quickly formed a defensive jutsu.

"Water Style: Water Barrier!"

A towering wave of water surged forward, countering the flames and preventing the entire area from being reduced to ashes.

The dust settled.

Both Obito and the masked man stood motionless, their eyes locked.

The masked man's breathing was ragged. His mind was racing, filled with confusion and doubt.

He gritted his teeth, trying to suppress his emotions.

But one thought kept screaming in his head.

If you're Uchiha Obito… then who the hell am I?

---

Back to the Present

Obito finished recounting the battle, his voice calm but filled with underlying amusement.

"And that's how it went," he concluded.

Shinomiya Uzumaki blinked. "So, you basically gaslighted him into an identity crisis?"

Obito smirked. "Pretty much."

Naruto snorted. "Man, that's so messed up!"

Sasuke, who had finally regained consciousness, groaned. "You guys are insane…"

Shinomiya clapped his hands. "Well, that was a fun story. But for now, let's get back to our main goal—reviving people."

Obito raised an eyebrow. "You're still planning to do that?"

Shinomiya grinned. "Of course. I love happy endings."

Sasuke sighed, rubbing his temples. "This is going to be a disaster, isn't it?"

Obito chuckled. "Oh, definitely."

And with that, their chaotic adventure continued.
