Chapter 109 - Chapter 109 – Washed Up

'Alright, now let's get outta here.' I grinned as I drove away from the city. I left Raccoon City and drove toward Chicago.

Unlike when I came, the drive was much longer because I had an old truck. However, I made sure I drove as fast as I could to reach Chicago quickly.

'I'm almost there.'

After 6 hours of driving—taking a detour and all, I could see the gate leading to the quarantine zone. There were no zombies on the road anymore and I was safe now. However, there were a lot of people who were stuck outside of the quarantine zone.

"Stop! No one is allowed to enter!"

A soldier was standing at the entrance with a rifle, stopping anyone who wanted to get in. The gate was closed, preventing anyone from getting through.

It seemed like a surge of people trying to evacuate from Raccoon City had gathered in front of the gate.

I ignored the commotion, parking my car near the gate and approaching one of the soldiers. "Hey, buddy. I got here a few days ago. Can you let me through?"

I didn't have to worry because I was already registered when I arrived a few days ago. My identity had been checked by the soldiers.

"Drop your weapon!"

But much to my surprise, the soldier didn't recognize me or my vest even though Ada immediately did. The guard pointed his gun at me.

"Hey, what's the big idea?!" I yelled at the soldier. "I just came here three days ago and I got registered! So, don't point that thing at me and look at this vest."

I pointed at the logo, which I previously missed, on my vest. It was the Raccoon City Police Department logo that was also worn by Leonand the rest of his crew.

Miss Rika had given it to me, saying that it would be better if I wore a bulletproof vest in case something happened. But it could also act like an identification due to the logo.

However...

"You must've stolen that."

... This soldier was a fucking dumbass.

It made sense though. He was just doing his job.

He didn't have time to waste with someone who looked like a thief, covered in sewer grime and dust.

I could try to explain myself but it wouldn't do me any good.

"You can confirm it with Albert Wesker or Leon S. Kennedy. If you don't want to talk to a man, you can ask Minami Rika about my identity. Busujima Daiki is my name." I said. There was no way he didn't recognize these names.

The soldier looked at him with suspicion before turning around and speaking to the walkie-talkie.

It seemed like it worked.

A few seconds later, he turned around and told me to get inside the gate, saying that I could pass. And the soldier didn't even say anything.

I didn't know whether he did this because of the names I gave him or if the higher up just didn't care about the small things.

Inside, I went through a test to ensure I wasn't bitten. Then I was released.

But...

"Ugh, damn it."

... I felt sick and tired.

I needed to rest. My head hurt and I was having trouble keeping my eyes open.

'Fuck, why is this happening?'

Was this because of the stress?

I couldn't help but think of that as the reason why I was feeling this way. And I needed a place where I could sleep comfortably.

Maybe it was indeed stress and fatigue. I hadn't rested yet after being in Raccoon City. It had been nonstop action for the last few days and it finally caught up to me.

After walking to the military headquarter, which took me around an hour because the soldier didn't want to take me there because they were busy dealing with the people in the front gate, I finally saw the girls again.

Saeko stood with a smile on her face. Beside her, Saya crossed her arms and pouted while Miss Shizuka waved at me.

"I'm back."

"You are alive, that's good." Saeko smiled softly.

"You idiot, where the hell have you been? You had us all worried about you, you know that, right?" Saya said, her voice loud. She sounded very annoyed at me.

"Fufufu, you look so dirty." Miss Shizuka commented, holding her cheek while chuckling, "Come on, you have to take a shower before we can talk properly."

"I agree. And we have some food left for you. The others already ate their portion so you are the last one. I saved it for you."

Saeko was the one who spoke up. She smiled at me, looking happy that I had returned safely.

I grinned back.

Yeah, this felt like home. Even if they were a bit too noisy and nosy sometimes.

I didn't even get a chance to speak before they pushed me into the bathroom. I was forced to bathe under their supervision while Saya and Miss Shizuka watched me from outside.

They even threw a bar of soap at me. Saeko stripped off my clothes immediately once we were inside our lodging and I couldn't do anything about it.

Like a little child, I could only say yes and they washed me from top to bottom.

Afterward, I ate the food that Saeko prepared. It was just some soup with a few chunks of meat and some vegetables floating in it. Not bad at all considering the circumstances we were in right now.

While eating, I explained to them everything that happened during my absence. How I found an empty barn, my trip to Raccoon City, how I fought the mutated blob of flesh, and how I encountered a spy.

I told them while knowing fully that there might be a recorder in the house that would transmit my voice directly to Wesker's office. I planned to tell him the same without hiding anything, lowering the chance of him suspecting me to hide any secret or information that he didn't know about.

The spy was also a woman and she had her own agenda. It would make sense that I wouldn't be trusted if I suddenly withheld this information.

And so, I ate and chatted with my sister and the two other girls. They seemed worried when I said the spy had me at gunpoint but relaxed when I said that I managed to convince her that I was not her enemy.

Anyway, I didn't see Miss Rika anywhere. When I asked, Miss Shizuka explained it to me.

"Rika was called for duty by Mr. Kennedy. He said they have to make sure chaos doesn't happen near the border of the quarantine zone. You know, there are many people trying to sneak inside before getting verified."

When I heard that, I exclaimed softly and nodded.

Indeed, unverified individuals entering the quarantine zone might spread the virus they brought from outside. Even I got a thorough check up earlier just to make sure.

"So that means..." Miss Shizuka looked at me with a predatory gaze and licked her lips. She rose from her seat and approached me, leaning forward to whisper into my ear, "You don't have to worry about her. Let's have sex. It's been a long time since I have something inside me."

"Don't forget about me too." Saeko approached from the other side and kissed me on my neck. Her hand touched the tent in my pants.
