"Then please." Princess Otohime said sincerely. If Rin was willing to help, tomorrow's petition-signing event in Coral Hill might proceed smoothly provided no unexpected incidents occurred.
"No problem, I'm already in the saddle don't worry." Rin smiled. It was a confident smile, the kind that revealed he was well aware of his own capabilities.
"Also... if I really die tomorrow, please take care of Shirahoshi." Otohime suddenly brought this up. She feared that if something were to happen to her, she'd leave Shirahoshi behind on Fishman Island. Though her daughter still had her father King Neptune and several older brothers like Fukaboshi, she knew Shirahoshi treasured her mother above all.
"I will. I promise." Rin accepted without hesitation. Although he hadn't planned to accept such a heavy request, he knew he couldn't brush it aside.
"Then thank you, Lord Rin." Princess Otohime bowed deeply to Rin, her tone formal and full of gratitude.
"Just call me Rin, no need for the 'Lord' hearing that feels awkward." Rin scratched his cheek awkwardly. Although he often used formal titles when teasing Enel, hearing Otohime speak to him so respectfully just didn't sit right.
"Okay then Rin, I'll be off to teach now. I'm taking Princess Shirahoshi to her lesson." Princess Otohime gently took Shirahoshi's hand. The little mermaid princess attended daily classes with other young fish-children, and Otohime personally taught them about the surface world and peace.
"Artoria, let's go back." Rin turned to call out to his companion.
"Oh! Understood!" Artoria responded, then turned toward Shirahoshi. "Princess, I'm heading out now."
"Huh?! So soon? I haven't heard enough stories yet…" Shirahoshi pouted, clearly still enchanted by Artoria's tales.
"Shirahoshi, it's time for your lesson." Otohime gently reminded her as she approached.
"Then, Sister Artoria, let's talk again another day, okay? I have to go to class now." Shirahoshi looked reluctantly at Artoria. She had loved the stories Artoria told—of butterflies, snowy mountains, and sights she had never seen. They all came from the mysterious surface world she yearned for.
"Of course, go to class. I'll visit again soon." Artoria smiled softly. Though she didn't show it, she also felt a strange warmth toward the innocent little princess.
From that moment, the relationship between Artoria and Princess Shirahoshi grew very close. Shirahoshi no longer feared Artoria, and Artoria, once always serious and stoic, now smiled more freely when speaking to her.
After Shirahoshi was taken to class, Rin returned to his room. He was planning to open a few system reward packs.
"System, how many packs have accumulated these past few days?" Rin asked mentally.
"There are 14 daily packs and 2 weekly packs," the system responded.
"Open them all," Rin instructed.
"Ding! Congratulations, host has obtained: King Otohime's Tableware Set."
"Ding! Congratulations, host has obtained: 10,000 Berries."
"Ding! Congratulations, host has obtained: 10,000 Berries."
"Ding! Congratulations, host has obtained: Steel Blade."
...
After opening the 14 daily packs, Rin had collected 100,000 Berries, a steel blade, and a bunch of other miscellaneous items not very impressive.
"Then open the weekly packs," Rin ordered, hoping for something better.
"Ding! Congratulations, host has obtained: Character Summoning Card."
"Ding! Congratulations, host has obtained: Character Summoning Card."
"Not bad, two summoning cards at once." Rin smirked. These were more valuable than money or steel weapons. In critical moments, a summoned character could save his life. If he got someone powerful maybe even a top-tier figure like Whitebeard or someone from outside the One Piece world he'd be set.
"It's a pity they're time-limited… if only they were permanent." Rin sighed. If the summons had no expiration, he could keep adding powerful allies to his crew summoning beings like Kaguya or even a Super Saiyan. At that point, not just the Marines even a Yonko like Kaido or Big Mom would fear them.
A few days passed, and the much-anticipated petition-signing event finally arrived. Despite King Neptune's repeated pleas to reconsider, Otohime insisted on attending in person. Left with no choice, Neptune strengthened security assigning extra guards to ensure her safety.
"As soon as the event begins, we'll fan out and cover all four corners of Gyoncorde Plaza east, west, north, and south. If anything unusual happens, signal immediately," Rin instructed his team. He knew that if the entire square was tightly monitored, Otohime would be safe.
"Understood." The others responded firmly.
"Here's the breakdown: I'll create a Shadow Clone one clone will remain beside Otohime onstage, and the other will cover the east side. Artoria, take the west. Casa, you're in charge of the north. Enel, you handle the south." Rin had carefully planned the operation over the past few days. Although many Ryugu Palace guards would be around Otohime, Rin wasn't confident in them alone. That's why one of his clones would personally guard her.
"No problem. If anything happens, I'll fire a lightning bolt into the sky as a signal." Enel tapped his staff. He had his own unique way of communicating danger.
"Alright then let's get started." Rin made a quick hand sign. "Boom!" With a puff of smoke, a Shadow Clone appeared. The original Rin headed toward the east side of the square while the clone walked toward the main stage where Otohime would stand.
"Time to move." Artoria nodded and headed west.
"Soru!" Casa used Navy Six-Style's Soru technique, vanishing in a blur as he rushed toward the north.
"Jeez, everyone's in such a hurry." Enel yawned, then strolled off in the opposite direction unbothered as usual.
