Eric's POV
I stood in front of Tyler's door, heart hammering with something I couldn't quite name...guilt? Regret? Shame?
He opened it. His eyes met mine, unreadable.
"What are you doing here?" he asked, tired. Just... tired.
"I just wanted to tell you," I said, swallowing thick. "Anne and I… we're getting together."
There was a pause. His face barely moved.
Then he smiled. It didn't reach his eyes.
"If that's what you wanted, huh? You got a friend now. You made her yours. I'm not angry. Congratulations," he said flatly. "I'm going out."
And just like that, he brushed past me.
I stood there a moment longer, watching him walk away like he hadn't just shattered something I couldn't name. Then I turned and left, making my way down to the car.
The drive home was quiet. Too quiet. No music. Just the hum of tires on asphalt and my thoughts crawling all over me.
