Chapter 90 - Chapter 90 – On the Importance of the Finishing Blow

"Not good—form the Sword Formation!"

Feng Yu's heart sank as he sensed danger. He forcefully swung his sword to create distance from Yang Feng and quickly called out to his teammates, directing them to form the sword formation for a counterattack.

Upon receiving the order, everyone swiftly disengaged from their opponents. The six members repositioned themselves into a circular formation, placing their support-type member at the center for protection.

The sword formation flared to life, instantly forcing the Skywater team to retreat.

Yang Feng, Mo Yu, and Lin Yan were pushed back by the sudden surge of soul power. The three exchanged tense glances.

"Face my blade!"

With sharp focus, Feng Yu, the core of the formation, raised his fingers like a sword. Behind him, the soul power formation coalesced into a dense storm of long swords.

As he pointed at the Skywater team, the sword qi behind him erupted like a violent downpour, shooting forward in a wild barrage.

"Not good!"

"First Soul Skill—Quake!"

"Fourth Soul Skill—Shatter!"

"Third Soul Skill—Iron Shield!"

"Third Soul Skill—Serpent Flame!"

In an instant, the Skywater team unleashed everything they had, resisting the seemingly endless storm of swords.

Ye Shao raised her staff high, its light as dazzling and brilliant as the stars. Radiance bathed her teammates, restoring their soul power and healing their wounds.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

The sharp clash of metal echoed constantly. Though the sword formation appeared overwhelming, with six attackers and one support amplifier working in unison, its actual strength barely matched a Soul King's soul skill.

Moreover, being a large-scale attack diluted its overall impact.

Still, it placed the Skywater team in a defensive posture.

"This is getting interesting. I really want to jump in and test that sword formation myself," Bibi Dong said with growing interest, clearly tempted to try the Wind Sword Sect's formation firsthand.

Gu Han said nothing, his gaze fixed on Yang Feng below. Among all Skywater participants, Yang Feng remained in the best shape.

The Soul Breaking Spear's overwhelming power allowed him to resist the sword rain without showing much strain.

He hadn't counterattacked yet. It looked like he was waiting—for the perfect moment.

With his keen spiritual perception, Gu Han could clearly sense Yang Feng's current state. Though he appeared to be defending, his eyes were sharp, locked onto Feng Yu, the core of the formation.

As time passed, one by one, the other Skywater members were forced out of the arena. Only Yang Feng remained.

At this point, tension hung in the air. Everyone was on edge for Yang Feng.

Some believed the battle was already over, and Yang Feng's defeat was inevitable.

Others held out hope—that he might unleash some explosive power to turn things around.

The sword formation consumed a massive amount of soul power. Feng Yu, as its anchor, was visibly exhausted. The other five were clearly struggling as well.

"Formation Shift!"

Feng Yu shouted. The remaining five disciples of the Wind Sword Sect lined up behind him, channeling their soul power into his body.

"Strike!"

Feng Yu roared, eyes like blades. A five-meter-tall greatsword slowly emerged from the sword formation and cleaved toward Yang Feng with terrifying momentum.

"Third Soul Skill—Open!!"

"Second Soul Skill—Pierce!!"

"AAAAHH!!"

Yang Feng bellowed. The tip of his Soul Breaking Spear erupted in a crimson glow, his attack and penetration power reaching a terrifying peak.

He poured all his remaining soul power into the weapon—and hurled it with all his might.

The long spear shot forward like a falling meteor.

The two-meter-long destructive spear brushed past the five-meter-tall pale-blue greatsword, breaking through the sword qi encasement like a knife through paper. With unstoppable force, it hurtled toward the formation's core—Feng Yu.

Yang Feng knew full well he wasn't Tang Hao or Gu Han. He didn't have overwhelming strength or the ability to fight above his level.

Facing a Soul King-level attack, he knew he couldn't break it head-on.

But… if he couldn't destroy the sword itself, he could at least break through its aura. If he was faster, the enemy would be forced to pull back and defend—unless they were just as reckless as he was.

Yang Wudi clenched the rail tightly, his whole body radiating restrained tension. If anything went wrong, he was ready to leap in and rescue Yang Feng.

Wind Sword Sect's patriarch, Feng Bailong, was also braced for emergency intervention.

"WHAT!?"

Feng Yu's face changed drastically. He never imagined the opponent would be this reckless!

Panicked, he instantly withdrew all his soul power and leapt to the side, shouting loudly—

"Disperse!"

The spear landed.

It pierced the ground at the formation's very center.

Buzz… buzz…

The spear quivered, humming with residual force.

"Haaah…"

Everyone let out a breath of relief. Feng Yu in particular was pale with lingering fear. A single drop of cold sweat slid down his face, dripping from his chin.

Just one second of hesitation, and that Soul Breaking Spear would've gone straight through him.

But then…

"Heh. Yang Feng, you've exhausted your soul power, haven't you? This fight's over. We've won."

Feng Yu smiled confidently. Everyone agreed. That last move had clearly used up all of Yang Feng's power. The battle was decided.

"Heh… yeah, I'm out of soul power," Yang Feng replied, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand, his unsteady figure standing tall.

"You're strong… but in the end, you're still alone."

Feng Yu relaxed upon hearing Yang Feng admit his exhaustion. Looking at his current state, he lowered his guard.

"And what of it?"

Yang Feng chuckled.

Suddenly, the Soul Breaking Spear exploded in a soul blast—an eruption of terrifying energy.

"WHAT!!?"

Feng Yu reeled in shock. No one reacted in time. The blast instantly hurled them out of the arena.

"What just happened?!"

Everyone was stunned.

"You had no soul power! How?!"

Feng Yu jumped to his feet below the stage, his face filled with disbelief. Had Yang Feng lied?

Yang Feng slowly walked over to the embedded spear, pulled it from the ground, and looked calmly toward Feng Yu with a small grin.

"Who told you my soul skill was finished?"

Feng Yu's expression collapsed into pure shock.

"So… that was a delayed second stage of your third—or second—soul skill?"

"Bingo. Lowering your guard before your opponent's truly down… that's a dangerous move."

"You—hmph!!"

Feng Yu wanted to argue, but he had no grounds. He could only let out a frustrated snort.

"This match goes to the Skywater Imperial Academy team!"

Clap clap clap!!

Thunderous applause filled the arena—cheers erupting for Yang Feng.

No one had expected such a shocking reversal. It was absolutely exhilarating.

"Fascinating…"

Guang Ling curved his lips into a graceful smile, his eyes full of admiration.

"Junior Brother, he actually won!!"

Even Bibi Dong was stunned. From that situation, she too had believed it was over—that Skywater had lost.

She never imagined that the next second would flip everything so completely.

"Senior Sister, never let your guard down before the final blow is struck," Gu Han said solemnly, like a father delivering a life lesson.

"Mm, I know."

Bibi Dong didn't mind his tone. In his stories, most villains died because they talked too much. Today's match taught her a very real lesson.

"No more pointless speeches. Never. Always go for the finishing blow."

Bibi Dong silently repeated the line, engraving it deep in her heart.
