[Chapter 275: Bloody Massacre]
At 1 a.m., after Linton and the three pixies completed their games, Danny came to the third floor and knocked on his door.
Linton put on his coat, and stepped out of the room.
"Boss, I just received a message from David. According to our scouts, the enemy indeed plans to launch an attack tonight. There are more than 200 people in total, traveling in six buses, six SUVs, and six pickup trucks. They've already left Parker County and are heading toward our direction. They should arrive at the farm in about 20 minutes, and our people are right behind them."
"What about their firepower?"
"According to the scouts, they mainly carry AK-47s and pistols, maybe some grenades, but no heavy weapons detected so far."
"No way. With such light firepower, who would have the guts to attack us?"
"Boss, you might have misunderstood. Not just any group can organize a militarized force like you. They are just a local gang, usually picking on the weak. No matter how strong they pretend to be, they can't compare to an official military organization. They look numerous and powerful, but in front of a real army, they're just a bunch of amateurs."
"How about David's preparations?"
"Everything is set. We're just waiting for them to walk right into our trap."
"Alright, I'll wait to see how they fare."
...
Turning back to his room, Linton considered that the upcoming battle would be intense and brutal. Not wanting Jennifer and the others to suffer psychological trauma, he let them sleep soundly with a touch of his power, sending the three women into a deep sleep.
He then extended his spiritual awareness to check on David's strategic setup.
...
Behind the villa facing the farm road, two armored vehicles and six Humvees were quietly stationed. Each armored vehicle had an XM214 mini-gun mounted on the roof, besides the main cannon. Each Humvee also had an M2 heavy machine gun installed on top.
From the farm boundary to the villa was about two kilometers. Within the first kilometer from the boundary, many troops were hidden on both sides, all dressed in white coats blending with the snowy ground, making them almost invisible unless closely inspected.
Behind these troops, there was a sniper.
Further away, about 500 meters along the private road that connects Parker County to the farm, there was another armored vehicle and two Humvees with similar heavy weapons parked quietly, apparently to cut off the invaders' retreat.
The battlefield setup was conventional with no fortifications. Considering that the opposing gang was just a local gang, while their side was heavily armed with military-grade weaponry, this arrangement was more than sufficient, and the outcome was already sealed.
...
Twenty minutes later, spiritual awareness detected a convoy coming from Parker County along the interstate highway: six SUVs in front, six buses in the middle, and six pickup trucks at the rear.
Interestingly, probably due to overcrowding, several people were sitting in the open beds of the pickups. In Montana's freezing winter nights, with biting cold winds, riding like that was downright suicidal. After 20 kilometers, anyone sitting in the cargo beds would be freezing, numb, and barely able to move.
Linton clearly saw those sitting in the pickup beds trembling and sprawled awkwardly.
Facing such a bunch was like an adult bullying kids -- killing them all wouldn't even be satisfying; it was just too boring.
Still, the harsh winter was challenging for his side too, so this could be seen as an extreme weather exercise to observe David's team's performance.
...
Soon, the enemy convoy entered the private road to the farm. Linton was speechless when he saw them making no effort to send scouts ahead. They just drove in a long line straight to the farm -- true military rookies. Looks like David's camouflage was wasted.
Once all enemy vehicles left the private road, officially entering the farm, Linton saw the armored vehicles parked on the interstate quietly start moving towards the farm. The enemy's retreat had been fully cut off.
Then the armored vehicles and Humvees behind the villa also rolled out into the open without lights, but thanks to the snow's reflection, driving was no problem.
...
About three minutes later, the two sides' vehicle convoys were less than a kilometer apart. The armored vehicles stopped.
Linton was wondering what was next when the cannons of the armored vehicles lit up, and then two huge explosions blasted the enemy's two buses into flames.
Simultaneously, the concealed troops on both sides unleashed a barrage of fire from their weapons at the convoy.
At the same time, the armored vehicle blocking the rear fired another shot, hitting a bus and igniting it.
Panic ensued among the gang members on the other vehicles; many were knocked unconscious, and the rest jumped out, screaming and firing wildly.
However, heavy and concentrated fire poured from both sides, leaving them nowhere to hide. The gang members fell like wheat being harvested.
Their return fire was chaotic and ineffective, as they didn't even know where the shots came from.
Adding to their misery, three flares were launched from the armored vehicles, illuminating the area brightly.
Exposed and with no cover, each gang member was picked off one by one.
The remaining attackers dared not leave their vehicles and only shot sporadically from windows before quickly dropping down.
Then the six Humvees entered firing range, and their M2 machine guns unleashed even more devastating fire.
Hiding in vehicles was useless -- the M2's firepower could pierce one-inch armor effortlessly, and the civilian vehicle panels were like paper in front of them.
Except for the second SUV, which according to scouts carried the gang leader in the passenger seat. For a live capture, the M2 gunners deliberately avoided targeting this SUV.
The rest of the vehicles were quickly shredded, their fuel tanks punctured, causing explosions that turned occupants into shattered remains.
The scene became a hellish massacre, snow stained crimson with blood.
The ambushed troops stood up and surrounded the battlefield.
Fully armed soldiers appeared at the last remaining SUV, opened the doors, and without hesitation, gunned down the occupants.
They then roughly dragged the gang leader out, ignoring his begging and wails. After shooting his limbs to ensure he was no threat, they hauled him towards one Humvee.
The M2 machine guns continued sweeping the SUV until it exploded.
Others started cleaning up the battlefield, ensuring no one remained alive by executing finishing shots.
At that moment, two sniper shots rang out, killing two people at the farm's edge.
Linton's spiritual awareness had already detected these two long ago and knew they were intelligence agents sent by the Douglas family. One even sneaked in using credentials from the National Weather Service.
But Linton did not warn David. He wanted to see if David's team would find them -- consider it a test.
If they failed, Linton would step in, but their evaluation would suffer.
Fortunately, no intervention was needed as snipers eliminated them.
In fact, besides these two, several agents from other factions also noticed something was up and observed from afar outside the farm.
Since they didn't enter the farm, David's team had no reason to kill them.
Only the two foolish agents from the Douglas family -- either overconfident or expecting mercy -- had infiltrated the farm to watch the fight up close.
Little did they know, Linton had ordered all unknown personnel entering the farm at night to be executed immediately.
Thus, these two foolish men ended up dead.
This was the Douglas family's second offense, and these two morons walked right into their own deaths.
It gave Linton a solid excuse to strike against the Douglas family next.
