The scent of fresh roses and vanilla candles filled the elegant ballroom as Xinyi walked through the grand hall, clipboard in hand. The chandeliers sparkled above her, casting golden light across the room, but all she saw were the imperfections—the slightly off-center floral arrangements, the uneven table placements, the minor flaws that no one else would notice but would drive her crazy.
She sighed, adjusting a chair by half an inch. "Perfect."
"Xinyi, the groom's mother just changed the seating arrangement. Again."
Her best friend and assistant, Meiling, appeared at her side, looking exasperated.
Xinyi pinched the bridge of her nose. "Of course she did. How bad is it?"
Meiling held up her phone, showing the revised guest list. "Bad. She moved the bride's parents to the back and put her cousins in the front row."
Xinyi exhaled sharply. This was her life now—fixing wedding disasters, handling demanding clients, and making sure everything looked like a fairytale, even when chaos brewed underneath. It was a far cry from the courtroom, where she had once fought battles with logic and evidence.
But that was her past, and she had no intention of going back.
"I'll handle it," she said, straightening her blazer.
As she moved toward the client's suite, a deep voice stopped her in her tracks.
"So, you're the famous wedding planner my sister keeps raving about?"
She turned and locked eyes with Shengxi.
He stood by the doorway, dressed in a crisp black suit, his posture relaxed yet commanding. His gaze was sharp, assessing, as if he were already deciding whether she was worth his time.
Xinyi had met many powerful men in her time as a lawyer, but there was something different about Shengxi. Something dangerous.
She lifted her chin. "And you are?"
A smirk tugged at his lips. "Shengxi. CEO of LX Group. The one paying for this wedding."
Great. Just what she needed—another arrogant billionaire who thought money solved everything.
Xinyi gave him a polite, professional smile. "Then I hope you trust me to do my job, Mr. Shengxi."
His smirk deepened. "Trust? I don't trust people that easily."
Xinyi's fingers tightened around her clipboard. Neither do I.
Little did she know, this wedding would change everything.
