AT THE SAME TIME
MICHAEL'S POINT OF VIEW:
The path stretched long and winding, flanked by looming oaks that whispered as the wind rattled through their branches. Our steps were heavy, but our spirits were sharp. Ascendant Heart was close. Xavier kept the map in hand, his eyes scanning every line as we navigated the trail. Isabella clutched my arm, her gaze darting back and forth, as if she half expected something to jump out at us.
Suddenly, the path curved sharply, and the trees parted like curtains to reveal a sprawling estate its iron gates rusted yet still imposing, twisted with vines that snaked up to spear-tipped tops. Beyond the gate stood a mansion grand, decaying, and yet unmistakably regal. Its stone facade was cracked with age, but the sprawling wings and towering turrets told of its former glory. Vanessa gasped, her hand flying to her mouth.
"I...I know this place." She whispered, eyes wide with disbelief.
Xavier turned, raising a brow.
"You do?"He asked.
