But soon, Thor saw the next part of the diary. He read as Rowan mentioned that a few people could still lift Mjölnir, and even one person who, on the surface, couldn't lift it, but had secretly been practicing the moves repeatedly.
"Impossible! There's no way anyone can lift my Mjölnir!" Thor immediately retorted, his voice laced with disbelief.
Apart from him and his father, no one else should be able to do it. At least, he had never heard of anyone who could.
"Wait a minute, Fury, who's talking now? Could it be Thor?" Stark asked quietly on the other end of the phone.
"Yes, it's Mr. Thor," Nick Fury confirmed.
As soon as he heard that, Tony Stark quickly hung up the phone and made another video call. When the call connected, he saw Thor on screen, looking exactly as he did in the video—except his hair wasn't quite as well-groomed.
Tony Stark had originally planned to ask Thor about how he maintained his hair, but given the situation, he decided it wasn't the right moment.
"So, it's really Thor. But how did you let him know about the diary?" Tony asked, genuinely puzzled.
"Because he has a diary too. I thought we should be on the same team," Nick Fury explained.
Thor was still reeling from the fact that multiple people could lift his Mjölnir. He had always believed he was unique in this regard—only he and his father could lift it, not even his brother Loki could.
Now, his pride was shattered. He wasn't the only one who was special.
"Normal," Tony Stark shrugged. "If something doesn't go wrong, something else will."
Thor didn't engage with Tony Stark. He was too absorbed in the frustration of realizing that others might be able to lift his hammer.
[Speaking of the one who practiced even the tricks, I wonder if S.H.I.E.L.D. has found Captain America yet? Probably not, considering the time. It may still look like two years. Tsk tsk, an antique thrown away seventy years ago, with no friends except for an old lover, and the lover I loved most dying of old age. If it were me, I couldn't bear it!]
Another cryptic and information-heavy statement followed.
Captain America!
This name had persisted for decades. Not only had it not faded over time, but it had become even more famous.
For years, the government of America had run a campaign to deify Captain America, making his name famous within the country.
You may not know who the previous presidents of USA were, but everyone knew the name Captain America Rogers.
He had even become the embodiment of the spirit of America.
It could be said that everyone in the room, except Thor, had grown up hearing the stories of Captain America Rogers.
Especially Phil Coulson, who was a huge fan of Captain America. As he heard the words "Captain America," he was completely stunned.
"Wait, is this the Captain America I'm thinking of?" he asked in disbelief.
A few moments later, Tony Stark's voice, filled with disbelief, came over the phone. "That was Captain America?"
Even a rebellious bad boy like Tony Stark had a certain level of respect for Captain America.
Of course, this tribute was reserved for the Captain America who died for his country in the legends. In reality, however, Tony didn't have much respect for the "old antique" from the last century.
"I think so," Nick Fury said, his voice strained. He had just recovered from the shock of hearing that Captain America might still be alive.
"So, it's him—he's the one who can't lift the hammer on the surface but has secretly practiced all the moves?" Thor said, clearly dissatisfied.
Thor didn't share the same reverence for Captain America Rogers that the others did. He only knew that this man—Captain America—couldn't lift his hammer, but had secretly practiced all the moves. To Thor, it felt like an obsession with his hammer, something that rubbed him the wrong way.
For anyone who coveted his hammer, Thor had always been less than pleased—especially if that person could actually be capable of lifting it.
"Probably," Hawkeye Barton chimed in from the sidelines. "Could it be that Captain America has mutated over the years?"
Barton had also tried to lift Mjölnir, but no matter how much force he exerted, the hammer wouldn't budge. He couldn't even begin to imagine how much strength Captain America Rogers would need to accomplish that.
But within S.H.I.E.L.D., Captain America's abilities were regarded as the peak of human potential—his strength was considered ten times greater than that of an average person.
However, Mjölnir wasn't something that could be lifted by brute force, not by trucks or helicopters, or anything else. It was said that there was a neutron star core inside the hammer. How could a human possibly lift it?
"Not impossible!" Phil Coulson said. "Since Captain America disappeared, all the nations of the world, including S.H.I.E.L.D., have been looking for him for ten years, but there's been no trace. He's probably trapped somewhere."
"Even if he's still alive, he's probably a hundred years old. It would be hard for him to lift an ordinary hammer, let alone Mjölnir or practice combos," Tony Stark said, mulling it over.
"Not necessarily," Nick Fury replied, a thoughtful look crossing his face. "What Rowan wrote in his diary about being thrown seventy years into the future... maybe that wasn't just a metaphor. It might have been a literal trip through time and space."
Nick Fury paused, then continued, "In that process, he could have absorbed some form of energy from the manipulation of time and space, granting him the ability to lift Mjölnir."
Everyone speculated wildly, unsure of the exact conditions needed to lift Mjölnir. They could only guess based on what they already knew.
"But it also says that S.H.I.E.L.D. found him, so maybe he's trapped somewhere," Tony Stark said, his tone shifting.
"Trapped somewhere..." A bolt of realization struck Nick Fury like lightning, instantly illuminating his thoughts.
He remembered something: the location where Captain America had disappeared according to S.H.I.E.L.D. data and radar—it was somewhere in the Arctic Circle.
If Captain America wasn't trapped, and didn't travel through time and space, then there was only one possibility...
