Chapter 45 - The master named Enis

A new day began. I stretched lazily and got out of bed slowly. Enis was still sound asleep beside me. Not wanting to wake her, I tucked her in and got up to prepare breakfast. It was still early, so why not try making bread? No sooner thought than done. I used magic to conjure a wheat grinder on the farm, then harvested some wheat from the fields. The machine, powered by lightning magic, worked smoothly, and I soon had a bag of flour. Happily clutching the flour, I returned to the kitchen, mixed in milk and eggs, and used expansion magic to create artificial yeast. After kneading the dough into bread shapes, I placed it in the oven to bake. Just then, Enis woke up and came into the kitchen. "What are you doing? It smells so unique," she said. "I'm trying to make bread—wait, why are you still naked? Go back and put on some clothes!" I blurted out. With a wave, she magically dressed herself, and I sighed in relief. "Go wait in the dining room; I'll bring it over when it's ready," I told her. "No way, I want to stay with you," Enis protested. "Fine, but sit over there. You don't need to help," I said, continuing to cook. The bread came out perfectly. I sliced it, made fried eggs and a vegetable salad, and turned it into sandwiches. Using wild grapes I'd picked, I made grape juice. Breakfast was ready, and I brought it to the dining room with Enis. We enjoyed the delicious food with satisfaction. "Your food is always so tasty. Did you learn this in your world?" Enis asked while eating. "Yeah, human cuisine is endlessly diverse. I've only made a few dishes so far, but when I gather more ingredients, I'll make even more for you," I said after finishing breakfast. Enis replied, "You're taking me to train today, right? I'm ready." "Of course, let me finish this delicious juice first," she said, sipping slowly. "This fruit is called a grape in the human world. I don't know what it's called here, but maybe I'll try making wine with it someday," I added. "I'm looking forward to it," Enis said with a smile. After breakfast, Enis and I went to an open garden area. "Can you teach me some powerful attack magic today, Enis?" I asked. "What do you want to learn?" she replied. "Hmm, my lightning and fire magic are pretty weak. Can you teach me higher-tier lightning and fire spells?" "Let me think. For lightning, I often use Devouring Thunderlight. Will that do?" "Yes, yes! It sounds incredible just by the name!" "It's a bit powerful and might damage the garden, so let's go somewhere else," she said, teleporting us to a grassland in the demon realm. "Watch closely. No incantation is needed. I'll send the mental technique to you telepathically. Just visualize the move in your mind and channel your magic to use it—though I'm not sure if your magic is strong enough." I stared intently as she waved her right hand, summoning several massive black-purple lightning bolts from the sky. They struck with explosive force, blasting dozens of huge craters into the grassland, each hundreds of meters wide. I was stunned. What kind of power was this? Who was this person I'd befriended? My legs trembled slightly. "That's the move. Now I'll send you the technique. Give it a try," Enis said, touching my forehead to transfer the knowledge. I now understood how to cast the spell. Following her guidance, I visualized the move and its incantation in my mind, channeling my magic into my palm. I swung my right hand forward: "Ha!" A few lightning bolts struck the ground, but their power was far weaker than Enis's. I'd need more practice to master it. "Don't be discouraged. You managed to cast it, at least. Practice a few more times, and you'll get it," Enis reassured me. I decided to focus solely on this spell for the day. I kept trying, blasting crater after crater into the vast plain, while Enis guided me on my mistakes. Before I knew it, the morning had passed, and it was time for a break. I'd made extra sandwiches in the morning, so we spread a cloth on the ground and sat down for a picnic, enjoying the familiar flavors. "Still so delicious," Enis said, savoring her food. "By the way, Enis, why are you so strong? Did you train hard too?" I asked. She leaned her head on my shoulder, lost in thought. "Over 3,800 years ago, demons and humans lived together in what was called the human world. But demons, born with ugly appearances, were shunned by humans, labeled as inferior, and oppressed. My father, the previous demon king and leader of the demons, used a secret spell to create a second world. His energy was limited, so it wasn't perfect—this demon realm we're in now. He led most demons to migrate here, though some demons and beasts stayed behind in the human world. I don't know what became of them. The demons thrived in this realm, growing stronger, and planned to retake the human world, leading to the first human-demon war. I was just a newborn then. My mother was a human my father abducted from the human world, making me a half-breed. She died when I was young, weakened by the demon realm's miasma. I survived because of my half-demon blood. My father taught me magic. The human world, with its weaker magic, was no match for us. Just when the demons thought victory was certain, a hero emerged. He fought my father to a standstill and ultimately perished with him. Humans and demons called a truce. My father's brother, Ba Di, inherited his will, becoming the new demon king and leading our people. I mentioned before that I visited the human world 800 years ago, right? I'd heard my father left a relic there, so I went to find it. But humans didn't welcome me. I taught them a lesson, but I couldn't find the relic and returned to the demon realm. That's my story," Enis said, her expression tinged with sorrow.Hearing Enis's story, I fully understood her past and why she knew the demon king. This woman by my side was truly extraordinary. I held her close and comforted her. "We can't change the paths of the past, but I want to forge the future with you. Whether you're the daughter of a king or a demon king, you'll always be my Enis, my lifelong love." Enis's eyes shimmered with happy tears.
