Eldo's body lit up in mere seconds to Winter's intrusion, the air around him shimmering with intense heat. His skin began to glow an angry red, and wisps of steam rose from his pores.
"Now hold on there bud, you don't want to burn YOUR cabin, right?" Winter hastily responded, raising his hands in a placating gesture.
"I don't care about the cabin right now... YOU TRIED TO KILL ME!" Eldo shouted, his voice cracking with raw emotion as flames threatened to ignite the wooden floor beneath his feet.
Winter's expression shifted, becoming unexpectedly serious. "Do you ever hear voices, Eldo...? Like the ones no one else but you can hear?" His eyes locked onto Eldo's with unnerving intensity.
Eldo's rage faltered for a moment, confusion crossing his features.
"I'm talkin' voices that only reach out to you when you're at an all-time low. Like a near-death experience, for example." Winter's words carried a weight that made the temperature in the room drop despite Eldo's burning presence.
The flames surrounding Eldo's body slowly dimmed as he looked to the side, lost in thought. The memory of that blazing figure in his mind during the fight flashed before him.
"So you have..." Winter replied, reading the look on Eldo's face.
"What of it, huh!? You're telling me a voice told you to do it, you know how crazy that sounds!" Eldo yelled out in frustration, his hands clenched into trembling fists.
Winter remained silent, then casually sat on the dining chair, letting out a long yawn before settling in for what appeared to be a nap.
"Wha- what?" Eldo stammered, completely thrown off by Winter's sudden shift in behavior. His body tensed up as he tried to process what to do in this bizarre situation.
When suddenly...
RUUUUUMMMBOOOOOOOM!
A bolt of lightning struck down in front of the cabin, shaking the entire structure.
Eldo immediately ran outside while Winter continued his inexplicable snooze, leaving behind a room thick with questions and unspoken answers.
"What the heck was that?" Eldo exclaimed, his nerves already frayed.
Kyo jumped up, a triumphant grin splitting his face. "I've done it! I've finally done it!" he cheered. "My powers... I'd say they're pretty shocking, to say the least!" He dissolved into laughter, collapsing onto the grass.
Eldo looked down at him, a mixture of confusion and unease swirling within him. "You good, bro?"
Kyo sat up, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly. "Sorry, it's just...it took a really long time for anything to happen. I guess I got a little carried away."
"Oh, it's all good," Eldo replied, his voice dropping to a near whisper. "But we have a slight problem..." He pointed back towards the cabin. "Winter's back..."
"Winter's back!?" Kyo's eyes widened in disbelief. "How? I thought he..." He trailed off, clamping a hand over his mouth.
"Thought he what?" Eldo pressed, his brow furrowed. "And how did you not see him walk in?"
Kyo's face flushed crimson as he averted his gaze, scratching the back of his head nervously.
"Well, your training or whatever must've been really intense then," Eldo said, rolling his eyes. "Anyway, spit it out!"
"I...I have to see him for myself first," Kyo stammered, turning and hurrying back towards the cabin, desperate to confirm the unbelievable return of the man he thought he had laid to rest.
