Uchiha Madara's words were laced with murderous intent, but his opponent, the elderly Mito Uzumaki sitting across from him, showed no visible reaction. She appeared as frail and aged as ever.
"Uchiha Madara," Mito finally spoke in a calm tone, her voice carrying the weight of years. "I believe I understand you well enough to know that your Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan can control the Nine-Tails. Thus, I came prepared."
"Oh? Prepared, you say?" Madara smirked, his crimson eyes gleaming with arrogance. "Then show me what you've got. Do you truly think there's any room left for compromise at this point?"
Mito sighed softly, her aged demeanor seeming even more fragile. However, without warning, she moved with a speed that defied her apparent frailty. Her hands flashed through hand seals at an incredible pace before she uttered a low command:
"Eight Trigrams Seal!"
Madara's eyes narrowed slightly. He was well aware of the fearsome reputation of the Uzumaki clan's sealing techniques and instinctively grew cautious.
But to his surprise, it seemed Mito had merely triggered some pre-set mechanism. As soon as her words rang out, black seal-script ropes erupted from the floor, walls, and beams surrounding the room. They shot toward Madara like snakes, moving with terrifying swiftness.
Before he could fully react, the ropes coiled around his legs, arms, torso, neck—effectively binding him tightly in place, leaving him immobilized.
Madara twisted his head, examining the intricate patterns of the seals while maintaining his composure. Meanwhile, Mito wasted no time. With another rapid series of hand seals, her seemingly decrepit body sprang into action like a coiled spring. In one swift motion, she extended two fingers and pressed them directly onto Madara's forehead.
"Four Symbols Seal!"
A surge of dense black seal markings surged forth from Mito's fingertips, spreading across Madara's face and encircling his eyes. The seals tightened mercilessly, locking down not only the muscles but also the chakra pathways around his eyes. Within moments, Madara felt his chakra cut off entirely; his ocular powers, once so formidable, were now completely suppressed.
Mito stepped back cautiously, her aged frame trembling slightly as she watched Madara intently.
Despite being bound by two powerful sealing techniques, Madara did not appear enraged. Instead, he chuckled darkly.
"Mito Uzumaki, impressive indeed. Your mastery of sealing arts is unparalleled in this world. It seems you've set quite the trap for me here. Truly worthy of your reputation."
Far from feeling triumphant, Mito remained grim-faced.
"Uchiha Madara, what are you playing at? I know my own limits. If this were anyone else, these sealing techniques would have sufficed to restrain them. But you..." Her voice hardened. "Why didn't you dodge? You clearly could have avoided it!"
"Dodge? You expect me to dodge something like this?" Madara sneered, his tone dripping with disdain. "Such trivialities are beneath me. All I need to do is... unleash."
With those final words, Madara unleashed the vast reservoirs of violet Natural Energy stored within him. The force of it erupted like a tsunami, obliterating the black sealing ropes in an instant. Even the Four Symbols Seal binding his eyes crumbled under the sheer overwhelming power of his chakra, dispersing like frost before a blazing fire.
The radiant violet glow emanating from Madara illuminated the entire area, its intensity shaking the very foundations of the building. This colossal surge of chakra quickly roused the entire Hidden Leaf Village.
The first to detect the disturbance wasn't Tsunade, who was closest to Mito, nor Hiruzen Sarutobi, the strongest shinobi present—but Jiraiya, who happened to be sound asleep in his home. Having trained extensively in Sage Mode at Mount Myōboku, Jiraiya possessed an acute sensitivity to Natural Energy. He bolted awake almost instantly, leaping out of bed and rushing to his window. His eyes widened in shock as he saw the towering pillar of violet light piercing the night sky.
"What… is this?! Such an immense concentration of Natural Energy!" Without hesitation, Jiraiya jumped out of his window and raced toward the source of the disturbance.
Meanwhile, Third Hokage Hiruzen Sarutobi, who had been diligently reviewing documents late into the night, was startled by the sudden commotion. He glanced outside to see the eerie violet glow lighting up the horizon and immediately recognized the direction—it led straight to the Senju clan grounds!
"This isn't good!" Hiruzen exclaimed, throwing open his window and leaping into the air, speeding toward the scene.
One by one, the elite ninja of Konoha sensed the massive chakra fluctuation and mobilized. Kakashi Hatake, Orochimaru, Homura Mitokado, and Koharu Utatane all hastened to investigate. Even ANBU operatives converged on the location, their movements swift and silent. Only Danzo Shimura and his ROOT organization remained hidden underground, content to observe the unfolding chaos from a safe distance.
Back at the site of the confrontation, Mito stared in disbelief at the radiant violet aura enveloping Madara. As the wife of Hashirama Senju, she was no stranger to Natural Energy—and she recognized its potency immediately.
"Uchiha Madara," she murmured, her voice heavy with realization. "So, you've mastered this power as well. Very well! My sealing techniques were defeated fair and square. It seems today, these old bones will have to fight with everything they've got!"
Reaching deep within herself, Mito activated the seal containing Kurama, the Nine-Tails. A sinister scarlet chakra erupted violently around her frail form, rivaling the ferocity of Madara's own energy. The malevolent red aura enveloped her completely, causing fierce winds to whip through the room.
Madara's lips curled into a faint smile, though whether it was admiration or mockery was unclear.
"So, you've finally resorted to using that beast's power."
At that moment, the door burst open violently, revealing a disheveled Tsunade. She took in the surreal sight before her—a clash between a figure bathed in violet light and another wreathed in crimson flames. Her pupils contracted in horror as recognition dawned.
The crimson chakra belonged to her grandmother, Mito Uzumaki. And the violet radiance? That unmistakably marked the presence of none other than Uchiha Madara.
Tsunade's heart sank.
