The paper started to shift in Max's hands.
Its edges shimmered, glowing faintly. The plain white faded into a warm brown, like aged wood. Faint lines of light pulsed across its surface thin glowing veins very alive with energy.
Ray leaned in his eyes wide. "No way"
Jack mouth fell open. "No, no, no… this can't be. There's no way…"
Alina stepped closer, her expression sharp and focused. Her lips parted slightly, but she said nothing just stared.
The light began to fade.
What Max held now wasn't paper. It was solid, heavy, humming softly in the air. A long piece of wood, about 20 to 26 inches in length and five inches wide like a plank. Its texture was smooth but alive. It looked exactly like Alina's wand is made of... the same color and same feel.
Max opened his eyes, stunned. He breathed out. "I… I think I did it. This is it right."
Alina reached out slowly. She took the wood with both hands gently as if it might vanish. Her eyes were locked on it.
