It was early in the morning. People were done with paking, since there were not a lot of things to pack to begin with. Rain kept going, making the air light, but foggy and dangerous. SUV were taking a front, truck followed behind. Nikolai is driving SUV, Nita were in a front passanger seat.
Everyone else were in the truck. And Boris driving the truck.
Radio (Boris) - Can someone explain to me, what happened with the sky? I see no signs of collapse storm, but it gets more and more rainy! Like... what the hell is that?
Nikolai reached for a radio with one hand, while keeping one hand on a wheel.
Nikolai - Just so you know. I am not really happy with the fact that we are going through this rain, the road is slippery. And we are about to enter the red zone. I think this sounds like something straight out of the horror movie! Just hope it is one of happy endings one!
Radio (Boris) - Happy endings? Do horror movie have happy endings?
Nikolai - Some do! "Poltergeist" for example… Nobody died, despite the best effort of the spirit!
Radio (Boris) - Where the hell did you even mangaed to see something like that?Remind me, where did you come from?
Nikolai - I never said that i always were an soldier like you Boris! I had my personal life, unlike little drunkard on the other side of this radio!
Radio (Boris) - You Little #$%@!*Static*
Sound of static suddenly filled the broadcast. Nikolai tryed to press some buttons on the radio, or turn something, but it was useless.
Nikolai - Damn it!
*Clank* Nikolai slaped the radio, but it didn't helped. So he reached to another set of buttons to turn radio off. But because of seatbelt, he couldn't reach. So Nita pressed the button instead.
Nita - Some sort of signal interfirance is detected. Unable to specify if it is an natural or artificial accurance. So i would advice to stay alert.
Nikolai - Since when, have you become an strategic megamind? Even giving away advices? Maybe you would be able to lead this group then?
Nita - My current task is… ELID danger detected! Seven units are going at 4-o'clock.
Immideatly, Nita grabed for a rifle und unbelted from safety belts. Rabbit like ELID were chasing truck. Few of them dissapeared behind the truck, so Nita too a shot at the only few she could see.
The very next moment, everyone in the truck, felt a sudden shakings, as an ELID ramed the truck from it's rear. People inside screamed in panic
Kikima - Everyone calm down! Try to get a grip at something...
Inside the truck, Kikima were trying to calm everyone down. Due to not a big number of people present, her attempts were somewhat successful. Untill another attack, made a crack in truck walls. ELID rabbit face could be seen as it chew on metal in attempt to get inside. Then a shot was fired. Gaping hole appeared inside ELID and blood splashed everywhere it could. And the ELID body disappeared behind a bloody mist.
Nita managed to jump on to the truck, and taking shots at ELIDs that were chasing the truck. Despite the fact that each shot killed an ELID, their numbers kept growin. Just a few moments ago, there were seven, now it is seventeen.
Nikolai - It was supposed a nice, little trip!
The SUV and Nikolai had their own share of problems. Different ELIDS started appearing on the road. Despite all it's armor and modifications, when Nikolai runned over one of ELIDs, SUV recived some heady damage, so he dropped that idea.
One of flying ELIDs, that were more resembeling a moth, ramed the tuck window and almost got in "biting distance" for Boris. In responce, Boris pulled out handgun and started shoting. He kept pulling trigger, until pistol made a *click* sound. ELID were still alive, but could barely move.
Boris - Sorry pal, but you came uninvited!
A straight punch in the face, were enough, so that "not so little" moth would fall out of window frame. Danger was not gone, but atleast Boris gained a little more space for breathing, which wasn't much, since broken window invited unfiltered air, so he had to put, a gasmask on.
Chaos continued for a few minutes straight, untill the group managed reach city streets. Boris tied to follow SUV since he coudn't make out any signs of road. It was then, when Nikolai turned steering wheel hard right and drived through parking lot, filled with rusty cars and rubbles, and straight through the gates and on the highway. Boris had to slowdown a little, to take that sudden turn to the right.
Once everyone were on a highway, ELIDs started slowly wind down in numbers. Nita took few well placed shots, and it looked like they were in the clear.
Boris looked around, no one is around. Nita stoped shooting. Only sounds of rain and heavy engine could be heard. There were only a road infront, and ruins of once big city around them.
Boris - Did we made it?
With a slight disbelief, Boris said. It was too good to be true… And it was indeed way to good.
A suddenly, a heavy truck, appeared around the corner, and ramed the SUV. Pushing it off the road, and in to the wall of an business center.
Boris stepped on the brakes. Due to rainy roads, truck wasn't fast to slow down, and it caused the crash. Sending both truck's in different directions. Boris almost were sent flying, if not for a seat belts, but he still hit a steering wheel with a head. Stuned and disorientated, Boris unfasten his belts.
In the mean time, Nita has fallen off the truck roof. Just in time, when bullets started flying. It was an ambush… And a heavy one at that. Everyone who were inside tuck, were stuck, ass the doors, were blocked by an rubbles, that fallen onto truck, when it went off road and slamed in to the bulding sideway.
Then a car came from behind, mounted with an LMG, started blasting truck and everything around it. Bullets occasionally managed to pierce through trucks armor. One of such bullets hit Grigori in the chest.
Then even more people appeared from south ruins, Varyag's people, and started shooting at the truck, in support to LMG. There were everything, rifles, pistols, SMG. Whole bullet hell were running loose. But at least there weren't any kind of explosions!
Danila - Everyone! Get out!
Not fully recovered Danila screamed. Then he rushed to the hole, that was made by one of the ELIDs from before this ambush. Everyone who could follow him, followed. First it was little girl, then Roman. Grigori tried to follow next, but then another wild bullet hit him in the back, just as he was about to crawl through the hole. Grigori collapsed and closed the hole with his body, blocking everyone inside the truck.
Everyone who were still able to walk, rushed to the nearby alley. LMG shooter saw, crowd of people on a run. But before he could take an aim, an gaping hole appeared in his head.
Nita finaly managed to appear, she made another shoot at someone among Varyag's crowd, then proseeded to follow the crowd.
Nikolai came to his sences, unfasten his belts and stumbled out of SUV. Surprisengly, SUV still looked like it was fine, but would not go anywhere now, since it is stuck in the ruins. Muffled sounds of gunshots reached Nikolai, while he walked to one of the walls, and started walking, using wall as his support. Door in fron ot him suddenly opened and two Waryag's bursted inside.
But it was Nikolai's mind that was blurry, not his reaction or instincts.
With a flick of a wrist, Nikolai pulled out a gun on first Varyag, and shoot him in the head, then he shoot second few times in a chest. Second Varyag pressed the trigger out of pain and fall on his back, still pulling the trigger. And one of wild bullets went through Nikolai's arm. Pained and still disorientated Nikolai, grunted from pain, but kept on walking.
On the other side of the wall, that Nikolai were using as support. Boris were pinned down by a valley of fire. Hidding behind the truck frame, once in a while, Boris were taking opportunity shots, but that gave little to no relief to his situation. He was runnign low on ammo, breath and ways to move. The only way he could go were the alley, but it was blocked off by caged fence. There is no way he could get out without some sort of cover.
"Cover" word rang in the mind of Boris. He quickly looked around. If the truck, that he was using as the cover this whole time, would move a little more, he would be able to move out there. And so he climbed, or rather crawled, to the driver seat, and pushed gas pedal with one hand. He also pressed the button to open the truck's door. He didn't knew of situation behind, but that decision doomed everyone who were still in the truck. As the door oppened, there were little to nothing standing between Varyag's and them.
Boris on the other hand, managed to get to the alley safely, and climb over the fence.
As for everyone in the truck. Varyag's rushed to the truck. It was tempring to shoot everyone. But they didn't. As each and everyone of them were a potential payday. Everyone who were in the truck were captured.
