The next morning, I woke up already annoyed with myself.
Kieran's voice—low, rough, and far too gentle—still lingered in my mind like a dream I hadn't meant to keep. And the way he looked at me last night, like I was more than a claim, more than a responsibility… like I was something he wanted?
It was infuriating.
He was making this hard.
Literally and emotionally.
We never said we wouldn't be attracted to each other. We only agreed to do what we had to in order to survive.
But surviving this honeymoon was turning out to be the hardest part.
I yanked on a swimsuit that covered all the important parts and threw on a breezy cover-up. I wasn't about to wear that scandalous thing Mara packed—not around him.
When I stepped out onto the balcony, he was already there. Shirtless. Coffee in hand. Bare feet propped casually on the railing like he was the damn star of a beachside romance novel.
"Morning," he said, offering me one of the iced drinks beside him.
