Chapter 71 - Life

Morning After the Wedding

The first thing Evelyn felt when she woke up was warmth.

Not the soft warmth of blankets—

But the firm, unrelenting warmth of the man wrapped around her.

Theo Bennett.

Her husband.

She blinked, her fingers instinctively brushing against the cool metal of her ring.

Married.

She was actually married to Theo Bennett.

A deep sigh rumbled from behind her, and before she could move, Theo's arms tightened, locking her in place.

She huffed. "Theo—"

A lazy voice, hoarse from sleep.

"No."

Evelyn tried turning in his arms.

"Theo, let go."

He nuzzled into her neck, lips ghosting over her skin.

"Never."

She rolled her eyes but smiled.

"You have work."

Theo groaned. "Cancel it."

Evelyn bit her lip. "You're the CEO now don't forget this u have rebuild everything my mother-in-law left and....."

"And I just married the love of my life." He finally loosened his grip, only to turn her around so she was face-to-face with him. His dark eyes, still heavy with sleep, traced her features with a tenderness that made her breath hitch.

A slow smirk curled his lips.

"So unless the world is ending," he murmured, "I'm staying right here."

Her heart fluttered.

"You're impossible."

Theo tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, staring at her like she was the most precious thing in existence.

"And you love me for it."

Evelyn exhaled, pressing her forehead against his.

"Unfortunately."

Theo chuckled, his arms wrapping around her again.

They stayed like that for a while, wrapped in each other hugging.

No rush. No chaos.

Just them.

Until—

A loud knock shattered the peace.

Theo groaned.

"Go away."

Kade's voice came from the other side.

"I swear if you two are still in bed cuddling, I'm breaking the damn door."

Evelyn snorted.

Theo sighed, dragging a hand down his face.

"Unbelievable."

Evelyn grinned, sitting up. "Come on, Mr. Bennett."

Theo grabbed her wrist, pulling her back down onto his chest.

"Not done with you yet, Mrs. Bennett."

Evelyn gasped, her cheeks burning.

"Theo—"

Another knock.

"I'm counting to three," Kade warned.

Theo muttered a curse and finally let her go.

As Evelyn slipped out of bed, she heard him mumble—

"Ruining my married life already."

The dining table was filled with food

And two very nosy people.

Nina and Kade.

Evelyn could already see it coming.

The teasing. The relentless interrogation.

And she was right.

"So," Nina smirked, resting her chin on her hand, eyes twinkling with mischief. "How is the new marriage feeling?"

Evelyn nearly choked on her coffee.

Theo, completely unfazed, took a sip of his own coffee. "Perfect."

Evelyn kicked him under the table.*

Kade raised a brow. "Perfect, huh?"

Theo smirked.

Evelyn kicked him again.

Nina giggled. "Evelyn, you're blushing."

Evelyn glared. "I am not—"

Kade leaned back, crossing his arms. "So, what's next for the newlyweds?"

Theo set his cup down and, without missing a beat, said—

"A honeymoon."

Evelyn's eyes widened.

"Honeymoon?"

Theo nodded. "I already planned it."

She blinked.

"Excuse me?"

Theo smirked.

"You think I'd let my wife go back to her writing things right after our wedding?"

Evelyn's jaw dropped.

Nina clapped her hands. "Oh my God, where are you taking her?"

Theo leaned back, eyes glinting with amusement.

"That's a secret but it's her favourite place."

Kade scoffed. "Of course it is."

Evelyn sighed, knowing she had no choice.

Because once Theo Bennett made up his mind—

There was no stopping him.

And honestly?

She didn't mind.

Not anymore.

Because for the first maybe second oh maybe idk how time in forever just because of him—

She was happy.

And this?

This was just the beginning.
