"Who, who are you?" Kastis stutters.
"Who am I?" The mysterious voice repeats
"That's a great question, godling."
"I am Valerian. It is an honor to meet you."
Kastis lifts his eyebrow. "An honor to meet me, why?"
"Isn't it obvious? You are here right now. If you are here, that means you are somehow related to Lord Unknown," the voice said like I was supposed to know that.
"You also mentioned godling, so is that Lord Unknown a gods, and am I part god?" Kastis questions completely baffled
"Yes, your legacy is from a god. Nobody else in the 3 worlds except you and two others are related to Gods, who isn't a god. You are also related to Lord Unknown somehow, the strongest god that disappeared a few thousand years ago." the voice claimed dramatically
"I have a few more questions: one) Who are the other two godlings, and do you know who those people are like gender, or anything? Two) How are you here, then? Are you related to Lord Unknown? And the last, three) What and where is this place, the hole, and the Illusory Islands? Kastis vigorously asks.
Valerian sighed "Alright, alright, relax. Here's the answer to one. The other godlings are not in Mistale—this world yet, and I don't know their identity, gender, or anything. But I can sense their presence in the other world, even if it's really faint. The answer to question two is I am not related to Lord Unknown and as for how I am here, I don't know; I just manifested here. I did not exist until about 100 years ago, then one day I just kind of appeared here. As for your last question, we are in the world known as Mistale, well, kind of. You see,
…
"What do you mean, kind of?" Interrupted Kastis
"Kind of," repeated Valerian patiently. "We are in a space called the Illusory Islands. It is a pocket dimension created by Lord Unknown. The island reacted to the skill of the first person to have come to this world. The skill was called Universal Domain. The thing is, not much is known about this skill and the history of how the 3 worlds came to be.
Kastis looked puzzled. "3 worlds?"
Yes, I mentioned it before, didn't I? Well, whatever. There is earth, this world-which is called Mistale, and the soul world-called Soularis. Mistale in the ancient languages means first or ruin." As for Earth, I do not know what the name means in any of the dead ancient languages. Lastly, there is the world of the soul, Soularis. This is the trial world where people can get stronger. The reason it is called Soularis is because only the soul of either a believer or a legacy can go there, but not the physical body.
Kastis was muttering something under his breath, trying to fully grasp the new information that was revealed to him. All of a sudden, he asked in barely concealed curiosity.
"What are you? and is this ca …"
Right before Kastis finished the last word of the question, his eyes unfocused, and he was able to see.
"Wh, wh, what is happening? I can see now?!" Kastis said in utter bewilderment as he looked around.
"You can see due to your skill, Shadow Walker; I still can't see anything," Valerian said sadly.
"Wait, why was I not able to see before then? Kastis wondered aloud.
"Well, that is because I put a veil over you so you wouldn't get distracted when I make my badass entrance," explained Valerian.
"Sorry, sorry, I got distracted, so please tell what are you?" Kastis repeated
Valerian sighed a bit sadly and answered, "To be honest, I don't know what I am. My best guess is I am a combination of the souls of the reincarnated that died on the island that manifests due to the Lord Unknown's resident power that still lingers on the island. The reason I say that is because I have a bunch of scrambled memories and personality traits that feel like they're ripping me apart as if multiple souls are making me".
"Ok, ok, that is interesting, but now I want to know how the powers system works," Kastis says as if he is not in full control over his thoughts and actions.
"Well, you can figure that out later." said Valerian in a happy tone. " I told you to much for now so I will give you time to process everything, and see you soon when you're a sequence 1 Legacy, well if you don't die ."
"WAIT! Please," Kastis pleadingly asked.
His attempts were useless as he suddenly realized he was sent rocketing into the sky.
Thud…
Kastis plucked his head out of the mud in the pond, and he spat out a mouthful of mud.
"Damn, what was that for?" Kastis muttered angrily while clawing at his tongue, trying to magically whisk away the taste of the mud. "
Kastis finally stopped clawing and looked around. He realized that the pond was now more integrated into the landscape. Before it looked as if it was a big crater, and water filled it, but now the land slowly, dips down exponentially to then form the pond.
Kastis got up and moved to his bed-shaped rock. As he was walking out of the water, beautiful shells were cracking beneath his feet. It was noon, around 12:30, he thought. The sun was blazing down at him, but his shadow was the same size as it was in the morning, Kastis noticed.
"How interesting, this must be due to my Shadow Walker skill." Kastis thought in interest.
He finally made it to the rock and sat down. He pondered on the things Valerian said and decided to go back into the woods to first try to get into the hole, then explore and scout around so that he can get his mind off of all of the things that happened this morning, and clear his jumbled up thoughts.
He got off the rock and walked slowly to the woods, looking around and taking in the sight. The flowers are in full bloom, the grass is making a light whoosh sound as the wind blows, the trees are rustling around him, and there is a slight buzz from the whole forest as if it is constantly inhaling and holding its breath.
Kastis was following the creek to go back to that hole to see if he could go through it using his shadow walker skill. After several minutes he made it to the hole where the water constantly flows down into. He goes into his shadow as if becoming a shadow himself and tries to go through the hole, but…
"No luck, damn it, there seems to be a barrier of sorts blocking the hole so I nor any other being can get in." Kastis surmised sadly.
"It's fine. I will just go scouting." Kastis says while he walks deep into the forest through the treetops of the forest.
As Kastis runs through the treetops, he hears and sees a lot of creatures. The one he sees most frequently is a creature that has four crab-like legs covered in a carapace-like material. It has an oval body that was covered in that carapace. Its arms were long and spiky; they also split down the middle to create a new set of arms. Lastly, its head was misshapen and had 3 eyes; well, that is only how many Kastis was able to count from afar. It was also covered in carapace.
Kastis proceeded to scout for about 10 more minutes, making it a total of 1 hour.
"Phew, I feel like I should stop scouting for now; by my estimates, I scouted a 30 by 30 meter perimeter. This place that I scouted was west of the rock." Kastis said exasperatedly as he heard back to the clearing that has a now big pond. In the top left of the pond was the rock, and in the middle of the pond after the whole world pool incident, there was a formless shape floating that seemed to be facing the south of the pond, where Kastis first encountered the clearing.
Kastis finally made it to the clearing. He scavenged around until he found a few large, flat rocks, four logs, and some moderately thick sticks. He then stuck the logs into the ground and put the flat rocks on the logs to make a makeshift table next to the bedrock. Kastis partially cuffed his hand to make a shadow to manifest the antlers of that deer monster and placed it on the table, then he put the stick down next to it.
"Ok, I should make some makeshift weapons, maybe a spear or a bow or a scythe… Yes, a scythe, but how am I going to make it?" Kastis pondered.
After contemplating for a bit, Kastis found a solution: he would use the teeth of the dead Shadow Jaguar to carve the thick antler into a beautiful crescent-shaped blade. So he immediately got to work; tendrils of darkness emerged from his shadow. Some were pulling, others were pushing the Shadow Jaguar's corpse out of Kastis's shadow.
Kastis immediately took one of the antlers and went to the mouth of the corpse. When he got the antlers, he used them to dig into the gum and pull all four of the canines out. He placed one canine on the table and picked up one antler. He used the tooth to cut the shoot-offs of the obsidian antler to make it a pure crescent with no shoot-offs except for one that he left to connect the hilt to the antler-blade. As soon as he finished that, he began to sharpen the inside of the crescent.
After shaping and thinning out the blade so that it would not be rounded, he then went to look for an appropriate hilt after judging the sticks to be unworthy. Kastis then realized that he could cut the other antler to make a somewhat straight hilt. He cut up the ends of the antler and rounded them out. When he finished, there was a bulge in the middle, so he cut and rounded to make it as straight as possible, but it was still too bent, so he cut the hilt in two areas, and started to carve the antler shoot-offs he had into little rectangles that had two layers of curved points at each end to lock the other object in place. This was taught to him by his adoptive father when they had to make a shack in their backyard when he was only 12 years old.
Unfortunately, the jaguar tooth turned completely dull, so he had to get a second one. After that, he started on the shoot-offs. Thirty minutes pass, and he finally finishes the shoot-offs and goes directly to the hilt, and carves a rectangle in the middle of the hilt. When finished, he puts the corrector-shoot-offs in and finishes the hilt of the scythe. He gets up and gets the blade and immediately drills the top of the shoot-off that he previously carved into a drill with points that are curved upward that act as hook when inserted just like the connectors in the hilt. When he finished inserting it in it stayed connected, that meant the scythe was fully finished.
"Finally! After almost 4 hours of crafting, I'm done, and now I really should go to sleep but before that I need to at least admire my handy work for a few minutes!" Kastis says exasperatedly.
Kastis for about ten whole minutes just stared at the beautiful pure obsidian scythe that he put his blood, sweat and tears of joy into. Then final went to sleep.
In the morning he woke up and made a dual dagger sets of both Shadows Jaguar canine's and the shoot-offs of the antlers with regular wood—not that you can call this wood regular; it is at least 2 times stronger than regular wood. He also made throwing knives out of the shoot-offs. The crafting took about the whole day, including the night, so Kastis had to make a fire to see and then he sleeped through the whole next morning night, when he finally finished all the work. When he woke up after a whole day of sleep he was read to hunt and maybe roast the deer.
