"Serena, Serena come down stairs now and see this" Missy screamed joyfully as she grabbed onto the stairs railing tightly. " Serena hurry up" Missy gestured to Serena to take a look at the computer screen. " Aunt Missy whatever it is can't it wait for a few minutes I just have to finish something first" Serena said with a frown, her hands crossed around her chest. " I don't think you would say that if you actually knew what I am calling you to see" Missy said with a smile placing her hands on her hips. Serena intrigued slowly but walked towards the computer, sitting down on the dining chair she carefully began to read the contents of the letter out loud. " Ms Serena," she paused tears rolling down her cheeks but these were happy tears not the same as the ones she had shed a few weeks ago " Ms Serena this is to inform you that you are one of the selected candidates to be awarded the two year scholarship program in Eldermere University to study history and modern literature. You are required to make yourself available on school grounds in the next three weeks, failure to do so would result in a fine . Congratulations and we hope you enjoy your stay in Eldermere University ". " Oh goodness aunt Missy I got in I did it" Serena cried hugging her aunt tightly. It has been quite a while since they heard any good news.
Ever since her parents were found dead due to a car crash a few years ago oh so she was told by aunt Missy. She was in the car that night but she could not remember anything about what happened or about her parents and her memories of her life before she began living with aunt Missy were all fuzzy and out of order, some faces and events became blurry when she thought about them too hard. Aunt Missy said it was as a result of the head injury she sustained from the accident but Serena did not believe it . She believed her parents were still alive after all their bodies were never found and there belongings, pictures and research went missing as well . Her parents finances and properties were restricted from her until she was twenty three , that's in three more years . All she was able to access at the time was her mother's old Ruby neckless . Serena constantly plagued with the thoughts of her parents being alive refused to give up, this led her to find a letter from her father telling her that she would find all her answers at Eldermere. Knowing her father was a very secretive person she knew whatever he wanted her to find out was important. The only problem was just that nobody could get in the town of Eldermere. It was an isolated town filled with the ancestral wealthy families who originally founded the town and they kept their lives and status private hence it was out of order for anyone who is not a member of the town or a descendant of one of the families to venture into the town. Serena desperately wanted to find out what truly happened to her parents and about her life before now. At first she searched for any evidence which would link her to any member of the town, when that didn't work she began searching for ways to enter into the town but with little luck until she stumbled upon the scholarship scheme which was carried out every ten years which enabled outsiders to study at the prestigious Eldermere University. Luckily for her she had just finished her program at Oxford and could take part in the scholarship program. She knew this would enable her gain access into the town but another major problem was the program would award scholarships to only four hundred and fifty individuals usually from wealthy backgrounds and judging by her race and her current financial status her chances of getting in were very slim, but she still applied and after weeks of waiting it has finally come.
" You have to return on time love, I don't want to know how much the fine is going to cost" Missy said rubbing Serena's shoulders gently with a warm smile on her beautiful oval face. Serena smiled giving her aunt a hug before heading to her and room with the computer with her, she was still overwhelmed by the news, she was finally going to Eldermere . Serena sat on her bed crying happily, she could not even remember what it felt like to be happy anymore . She wiped her tears,a smile still drawn on her face as she clicked accept and her admission portal popped up stating she had successfully become a student of Eldermere. As she scrolled down the page she saw pictures of the university which had many old massive castle structures, the picture was gloomy with little to no colour in it, it looked gothic . She swallowed hard feeling a cold sweat run down her face . There weren't any pictures of students or staff all she could find on the page were pictures of the leaders of the seven original families of Eldermere who run the university , even they looked strange but for some reason she felt that she knew them and it was not a pleasant feeling. Her eyes were fixed on the dark haired man who had a mischievous smile on his face , he stood in the center of the others and his ruby red eyes held no emotion . As she took a closer look at him she realized he had a symbol on his wrist a butterfly with one of it's wings black and the other white, it looked almost the same as her birth mark . She reached out placing her hand on the mark behind her ear ." This could not be a coincidence" Serena thought carefully scanning the other leaders but could not find the same symbol . " Maybe it's hidden" she whispered to herself her eyes frantically moving from one member to another. " Whatever it is I would soon find out, I would soon know everything"
