Chapter 48 - Chapter 47.

Chapter 47.

"Felix, did you figure it out? What's going on with your world?"

Annie anxiously rushed toward Felix the moment he reappeared, her eyes filled with concern.

Felix let out a long sigh.

"Yeah… I figured it out. But…" His voice trailed off, heavy with unease.

If his suspicions were correct, the Earth was now under invasion from the Dark Dimension, and Dormammu was behind it.

The strange stillness around the world? A Time-Freezing Spell. Only two beings could perform something like that—the Ancient One or Doctor Strange using the Time Stone. But Felix and Annie had just returned from another universe, so they were unaffected by the spell.

Still, what troubled Felix most wasn't the spell—it was the timeline.

"In my memory… Dormammu's invasion was in 2017," he muttered. "But when I left, we'd just finished Thor's storyline. Have I only been gone for over a month in that universe? And here, nearly seven years have passed?"

He scratched his head in frustration. "This plot jump is insane—readers are gonna kill me!"

To make things worse, the invasion was supposed to occur in Hong Kong—but now it was happening in New York. Felix couldn't help but pity the city.

"First aliens in 2012, now Dormammu in 2019… New York never catches a break."

"Felix, stop sighing!" Annie snapped. "If you know what's going on, then let's find a way to fix it together."

"You're right. No point in standing around. We need to see it for ourselves."

Though Dormammu was the Lord of the Dark Dimension, making him nearly invincible, Felix wasn't one to back down easily. He turned to Annie.

"Alright, Annie, let's go!"

With a flash, Felix teleported them both to New York City.

The sight was surreal.

In the sky above, a colossal, swirling rift—the Dark Dimension—was slowly consuming the Earth. It looked dreamlike, glittering with dazzling, multi-colored light. Asteroids floated eerily within it.

On the streets below, time had completely stopped. Pedestrians mid-run, cars mid-crash, sparks mid-explosion—everything was frozen, as if the entire city had been turned into a living painting.

"Welcome to another world," Felix said, spreading his arms dramatically. "A disaster-ridden, beautifully apocalyptic world."

He tried to mimic Tony Stark's signature pose from his arms demo, but Annie wasn't impressed.

"This isn't the time for jokes," she snapped, brushing past him.

Felix sighed. "Tch, guess I can't even pretend right."

They continued walking down the street, trying to gather clues—or maybe spot familiar faces.

And sure enough, they did.

Ahead of them stood Kaecilius, frozen mid-run with a leg raised, as if trying to stop something. His face was darkened with bruises—classic signs of his fall to darkness. Two other followers stood behind him in the same robes, similarly marked.

"Man… Kaecilius," Felix murmured. "You could've been a great mage. But no, you had to worship Dormammu."

He remembered how he'd once gotten along with Kaecilius during his time in Kamar-Taj. It hadn't even been that long ago—and yet, everything had changed.

"Do you know him?" Annie asked, puzzled. "Because that face… yeesh, that makeup is hideous."

Felix gave a short laugh. "Yeah, I know him. He's not a bad guy—just someone life pushed too far."

When he first watched Doctor Strange, Felix had seen Kaecilius as nothing more than a villain. But after actually meeting the man, he realized how deep his pain ran. He only wanted to resurrect his wife and son. –That was admirable… but tragically, he'd chosen the wrong way to do it. Dormammu would never grant such a wish.

Felix shook off the memories. There was no time to dwell on the past.

They had to find a solution—and fast. Living in a frozen world wasn't an option. He wasn't some bored villain happy to toy with frozen people like statues.

And if Kaecilius was here, then surely Wong and Mordo couldn't be far behind.

"Let's keep looking," Felix said. "We might find some help yet."

Right now, Doctor Strange should be the one confronting Dormammu to negotiate.

"Has something changed? You stay here—I'll fly up and check it out," Felix suggested, pointing toward the dark dimension looming in the sky.

"No. I'm coming with you," Annie replied firmly, refusing without hesitation.

Felix paused. Leaving her behind in such an unpredictable situation wasn't a good idea. If danger struck, he might not be able to return in time to help. And besides, Annie wasn't helpless—she had powers too, even if they weren't particularly strong.

"…Alright. Let's go have a look."

Grabbing her by the arm, Felix launched them both into the sky, soaring straight toward the ominous dark rift.

Once inside the dark space, Felix immediately released his spiritual power to full capacity. Something in this realm was clearly interfering with his senses, but even so, he could still perceive his surroundings within a 100-meter radius.

If an attack came, he'd be ready.

But no attack came. He flew forward cautiously for a long time—still no trace of Dormammu. No sign of Doctor Strange either.

Just as doubt began to creep in, Felix sensed a strange fluctuation ahead. The space in front of him was… different.

Felix held Annie close and raised his guard. He didn't know what was about to happen, so he braced himself—ready to strike or retreat at a moment's notice.

Crack—!

The sound of shattering glass echoed.

Felix's eyes lit up. That sound was familiar.

"Annie, I think we found something!" he said with sudden excitement, accelerating toward the source of the noise.

Passing through the fractured space, they arrived—only to see the back of a bald head in yellow robes.

Felix blurted out instinctively, "Master Ancient One? You're not dead?!"

The moment the words left his mouth, he regretted them.

The figure slowly turned around, a warm smile on her face.

"Felix… It's been a while. It's about time you came back," she said gently.

There was no mistaking her. This was indeed the Ancient One, the Supreme Sorcerer of Earth. And on her chest, the Eye of Agamotto glowed with a soft green light.

"Uh… Master Gu Yi… I didn't mean it like that. I just thought you had already…"

Felix stammered awkwardly.

"No need to explain. I know what you meant."

She interrupted calmly, still smiling.

Felix was utterly confused now. What was going on? By all accounts, the Ancient One should have already passed away by the time Dormammu invaded. So how was she still here, completely intact?

"Master Gu Yi, what's happening right now? Has Dormammu already breached Earth's barrier?" Felix asked urgently.

But instead of answering, the Ancient One turned to Annie.

"You must be Miss Annie—from another universe. Welcome to Earth."

Annie straightened up respectfully.

"Hello, Ancient One. Felix's told me about you. He said you're the Supreme Sorcerer who protects Earth. It's truly an honor to meet you."

She had heard about the Ancient One back at Kamar-Taj, and admired her deeply. That the Ancient One could identify her as an interdimensional traveler instantly only deepened her respect. She really is extraordinary…

"Master Gu Yi, we can talk about Annie later. Please, tell me what's going on!"

Felix pressed, growing impatient.

"Come and see for yourself," the Ancient One said, waving her hand.

Suddenly, the space beneath their feet shifted. In an instant, Felix and Annie were standing beside her, without even realizing they had moved.

As Felix looked ahead, he was utterly stunned.

It wasn't an overreaction—what he saw was truly beyond belief.

Just a few hundred meters in front of him loomed an enormous face, with two massive purple eyes glowing like giant lanterns. There was no mistaking it—this was Dormammu, ruler of the Dark Dimension and invader of Earth.

But it wasn't Dormammu's appearance that shocked Felix the most.

What truly stunned him was the group of figures fighting Dormammu.

It wasn't Doctor Strange negotiating like he remembered—there were five people engaged in battle! (Not counting the two observers watching from a distance.)

And Felix knew them all.

Two of them wore standard robes. One was Wong, the chubby librarian; the other was Master Mordo, whom Felix hadn't seen since arriving. They were both conjuring magic shields, trying their best to block Dormammu's relentless attacks.

But it was the other three that truly rocked Felix's world.

One was flying in the air in a silver suit of armor, dodging attacks with agile precision. From time to time, he launched energy blasts from his palms at Dormammu's massive face, landing several effective hits.

Another figure crackled with silver lightning, wielding a storm axe. He ignored most of Dormammu's attacks as he soared through the air, raining down blows with his axe and summoning devastating bolts of lightning—each one tearing into Dormammu and leaving visible scars.

Felix could almost imagine giant red numbers like [-99999] flashing above Dormammu's head with every strike.

The third was clad in a tight-fitting suit, a shield in his left hand and a hammer in his right. While fending off Dormammu's attacks with the shield, he used the hammer—glowing with thunder—to channel lightning into Dormammu's form.

Above the battlefield, the sky was a chaotic display of lightning, color, and violent energy.

"Holy crap… is this the Big Three vs Dormammu?!" Felix felt like his mind was breaking. He had seen these heroes—Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America—fight against Thanos in the movies. But this? This was something he could never have imagined. Not even in his wildest dreams.

And yet, despite his shock, Felix noticed that their combined assault was working. Dormammu's giant face bore fresh scars from the attacks—they were actually hurting him–!

"Wait, how is this guy still alive after all that?!"

But before Felix could finish the thought, the scars began to fade. Dormammu's expression twisted with irritation, as though he'd grown tired of playing with these "insects."

Suddenly, countless spears and blades made of condensed energy appeared out of thin air and rained down on the battlefield.

Wong and Mordo's yellow energy shields shattered almost instantly under the assault. Yellow fragments burst like sparks, and the two were pierced through by the magical blades, falling lifelessly to the ground.

Captain America, with only his shield to protect him, tried to hold out. He managed to block a few strikes using Mjolnir, but was ultimately overwhelmed. A blade pierced through his chest—and his body crumpled to the ground.

Iron Man, still airborne, dodged the blade barrage thanks to his armor. But Dormammu extended a massive shadowy hand, swatting him from the sky like a fly. The armor held together, but he didn't get back up.

Now, only Thor, wielding Stormbreaker, remained standing.

He charged straight at Dormammu, ignoring every attack, his body surrounded by raging lightning. The air shimmered with raw energy as Thor summoned bolts thick as tree trunks, slashing across Dormammu's massive face.

Each strike left devastating damage in its wake.

"You dare wound me, tiny ant? I'll crush your body into dust!"

Dormammu's roar shook the very space around them. Asteroids floating nearby exploded under the sheer force of his rage. Opening his enormous mouth, Dormammu began to gather energy—a terrifying, dark beam swirled into existence.

With a deafening roar, he unleashed the beam of pure darkness directly at Thor.

Thor didn't have time to dodge.

The beam hit him squarely. But as expected of an Asgardian god, Thor withstood the full force of the attack. Though the impact sent him skidding backwards, carving a deep trench in the ground, he remained standing—battered, but unbroken.

But now he was alone.

And though Stormbreaker gave him the power to fight Dormammu head-on, it was still barely enough. Felix could clearly see how difficult it was for Thor to hold his ground—even for a god.

Even worse, while Thor could ignore the smaller magical blades and spears, the giant hands and focused energy attacks from Dormammu were far more dangerous. Every hit he took left its mark.

Dormammu began to manipulate the surrounding asteroids, hurling them like missiles at Thor. Fortunately, Stormbreaker—Thor's mighty axe—was indestructible. With a single swing, he could split apart the incoming space debris. Each collision triggered massive explosions and violent energy ripples that rippled across the battlefield, lighting up the dark dimension in a chaotic storm of destruction.

Though Felix was still reeling from shock, seeing those familiar heroes dying so tragically in front of him ignited a surge of emotion. How could he just stand by and watch? Every fiber of his being screamed at him to rush in and help.

But just as he was about to charge forward, Master Gu Yi extended a hand and stopped him.

Felix froze, confused and frustrated.

"Why is she stopping me?" he thought.

But before he could question her aloud, something unbelievable happened—the heroes who had fallen moments ago suddenly reappeared, alive and fighting once more!

Felix turned his head sharply, blinking in disbelief. His eyes landed on Gu Yi, filled with uncertainty.

Then realization dawned.

And a smile slowly crept across his face.

"Of course… a time loop. Master Gu Yi, you used a time loop. That's brilliant!" he said, almost laughing in relief.
