Chapter 46 - Chapter 45.

Chapter 45.

After learning the truth, Felix felt a sense of helplessness. How could this be related to him? He had planned to stay quietly in this world for a while. After obtaining the sample of Compound V, he intended to leave the world and had no interest in getting involved with the Vought Corporation or any other matters.

However, fate had other plans. The more one tries to avoid trouble, the more it tends to find them, and that was exactly what happened now.

After asking the A-Train about the approximate location of the terrorist group, a blue light cluster appeared in his left palm.

"No, no... don't kill me! I'll tell you everything I know, please, spare me!" The A-Train, seeing Felix's actions, became terrified. As the blue light in Felix's left hand grew closer, the A-Train couldn't help but beg for his life, hoping for mercy.

Although he didn't understand what the blue energy in Felix's left hand was, he was sure that Felix never did anything without purpose.

As the blue light continued to draw closer, the A-Train felt as though death itself, personified by a sickle, was steadily approaching his neck.

...

Certainly, there are those who can disregard the fear of death, but such individuals are rare, often possessing remarkable perseverance. Unfortunately for the A-Train, he was not one of them. Although he could easily take the lives of others with a smile, when faced with his own demise, he became a coward, begging for mercy.

But Felix wouldn't let him off. It wasn't just the countless innocent lives the A-Train had taken. The fact that the A-Train had killed Starlight's mother made this situation personal. Felix couldn't let that slide.

Moreover, there was another reason for Felix's actions. He would not show mercy. Before the A-Train died, Felix wanted him to experience the slow approach of death—watching it draw closer, yet unable to resist or escape. It could be said that Felix was cruel, but that was his choice at this moment, driven by no other reason but his own will.

In the end, despite the A-Train's incessant begging, the blue energy finally made contact with his body. As the blue light flickered, it morphed into countless small arcs, resembling earthworms, which began to crawl over his body. Each movement felt as though a portion of his flesh and blood was being devoured. The A-Train could clearly feel the excruciating pain of his own body being consumed.

In just ten seconds, thousands of arcs had swallowed his body, exposing his white bones. This was the result of Felix purposely slowing down the process. Yet the A-Train was still alive, enduring a death that was more agonizing than a thousand knives.

"Hey, forget it. I'll give you mercy," Felix muttered, observing the A-Train's suffering. Despite his cruel intentions, he felt a hint of hesitation. Sighing inwardly, he decided to end it quickly. At the thought, the arcs exploded, devouring the A-Train's flesh entirely.

In an instant, the A-Train's mangled body disappeared into the blue light, transforming into tiny blue sparkling particles that dissipated in Felix's hands.

"I hope you're reborn as an ordinary person next time, or maybe even as a true Flash." Felix found himself unexpectedly sentimental, offering a blessing after the kill. But then, he quickly realized his own folly.

"No, this can't happen again. If someone sees this, they'll think I'm a fool," Felix silently decided. From now on, he would not offer blessings after taking a life.

After everything was done, Felix walked over to Starlight, who was still crying while holding her mother's lifeless body. He felt a sense of helplessness as he looked at her.

"Annie, you can't bring her back. Please, try to find peace," Felix said softly.

Felix was never good at comforting people, especially in the face of a loved one's death. And in this situation, he had no idea how to ease her pain.

Sure enough, upon hearing Felix's words, Annie paused for a moment before continuing to sob, clutching her mother's body tightly.

Helpless, Felix stood silently beside her, waiting.

Half an hour passed. Annie, wiping her tears with the back of her hand, stopped crying and looked up at Felix, standing beside her. She asked in a soft voice, "Felix, can you bury my mother for me?"

Annie had always been dependent on her mother, especially after her father had abandoned them long ago. Today, she had learned that her father had finally confessed the truth—he had never wanted her or her mother. His departure had been his final attempt to distance himself from them.

Though Annie had blamed her parents for joining the baby plan without her consent, she now felt conflicted. Her anger was mostly directed at her mother for hiding the truth from her.

When danger arrived, the moment her mother pushed her away, Annie realized just how deeply her mother loved her.

"Of course, I can!" Felix responded quickly when Annie finally stopped crying, letting out a quiet sigh of relief as he nodded to her inquiry.

The funeral for Annie's mother went smoothly, without any unexpected complications. After the priest delivered the memorial speech at the church, she was laid to rest in the cemetery.

The memorial service was originally intended to include friends of the deceased, but Annie and her mother had lived in a remote town for most of their lives, so they didn't have many friends. Furthermore, due to the circumstances surrounding her mother's death, the event had to remain private. The funeral and service were kept simple, with only Felix accompanying Starlight in attendance.

By the time everything was over, it was already late in the evening. After Annie spoke briefly in front of her mother's gravestone, she placed a bouquet of flowers before it and then turned to Felix.

"It's better now. Let's go home," she said softly.

Felix gazed at her and replied gently, "Home? My last loved one is gone now. I feel like I'm homeless. Where should I go back to?"

Annie's words reflected her confusion. She had no idea where to go now. With everything that had happened, she didn't want to return to her old home—after all, her mother had passed away there, –and she couldn't shake the emotional weight of it. She also didn't want to return to the Vought Corporation.

"If you don't know where to go, you can come with me," Felix suggested. Before Annie could reply, he placed his hand gently on her shoulder, and with a thought, the two of them vanished from the cemetery.

Thankfully, there were no other people around at that moment; if anyone had seen them, they might have been terrified, thinking they'd witnessed something supernatural.

When they reappeared, they found themselves in the room where Felix had stayed previously. It was the house he had been living in temporarily.

"This is where I'm staying now. You can stay here for the time being," Felix said as he removed his hand from Annie's shoulder.

"Y-you…" Annie stammered in surprise.

"What's wrong with me?" Felix asked, slightly confused. "Don't misunderstand me. I have no ulterior intentions. I have more than one bedroom here. You can pick one for yourself."

Felix noticed Annie's look of disbelief, thinking she might have misunderstood his actions, and hurried to clarify.

"No, it's not that," Annie responded, still a bit shaken. "I mean… what happened just now? In the blink of an eye, we're here? Is this your home now?"

Annie couldn't help but feel weirded out. After being in the graveyard just moments ago, she found herself in a completely unfamiliar place. No one could stay calm after something like that!

"Oh, this? This is just one of my abilities; there's no need to make such a big deal about it," Felix casually remarked, offering a simple explanation without going into further detail.

"Really? That's an amazing ability!" Annie replied, still impressed.

Annie didn't push the matter further. After all, her mother had just passed away, and the emotional weight of the loss was still fresh. She chose a room, freshened up, and then headed to her bedroom.

"Felix, thank you for everything today. I really can't imagine what would have happened without your help. I don't know what I would have done!" Before heading to bed, Annie expressed her gratitude to Felix.

"Don't mention it. Just get a good rest tonight. Everything will pass in time," Felix replied reassuringly.

"Yes, I understand. Still, thank you," Annie said, and with that, she went to rest.

Meanwhile, Felix returned to his own room to continue his training.

The night wore on, and soon it was early morning. As Felix lay in bed, he suddenly sat up, finishing his practice for the day.

"Damn, did you check the location?" Felix asked.

"Sir, the location has been confirmed. High-definition satellite images have been projected in front of you," came the reply.

Felix noted how David had become increasingly intelligent. Now, it could display images directly without needing to ask for them.

Felix glanced at the projected image before immediately disappearing from the room.

When Felix reappeared, he found himself high in the sky, looking down at a base below. This was the location of the superhuman terrorists.

He glanced up at the sky. It was eerily quiet—there were no stars, no moonlight, just complete darkness. The stillness of the night seemed to suggest something ominous was approaching.

Felix used his perspective ability to confirm that there were indeed many people in the base below. These weren't ordinary people but superhumans. Most of them were already resting, with only a few acting as sentinels.

Felix had no intention of rushing in. Instead, he decided to unleash an overwhelming amount of power. A terrifying aura erupted from him as silver lightning surrounded his body. He then adopted the stance of the Kamehameha wave, a move he had used in his battle with Homelander.

Countless bolts of immense lightning energy flowed down his arm, converging into a star-like energy ball between his palms. The ball emitted a dazzling white light, illuminating the surroundings.

Back at the base, not everyone had fallen asleep. Some were on watch, and they suddenly sensed something was wrong. The sky had become extremely bright all of a sudden, as if a sun was shining brightly in the sky. But it was clearly early in the morning, and the sun hadn't risen yet.

"Hey, hey... what is that in the sky? A meteor?" one of the sentinels muttered in confusion.

They couldn't help but look up at the source –of the light, and they saw a luminous orb in the sky, radiating dazzling light in all directions. The brilliance was so intense that they couldn't look directly at it.

"Let's hurry up and check what's going on!" one of them exclaimed.

Confusion spread quickly as no one could understand what was happening. For a moment, the silence of the night was broken by a flurry of voices.

At that moment, high above in the sky, Felix had almost charged up. This time, he didn't add any blue space energy to the energy cluster in his hand. Instead, he focused entirely on gathering immense lightning energy, causing the energy ball to glow with the intensity of the sun.

Space energy, which represents disappearance and engulfment, would erase anything it touched from existence, but it wasn't as powerful as lightning energy in pure destructiveness. The latter was far more destructive, and right now, Felix desired destruction.

He felt the raw power of the energy ball in his hands, containing violent energy that he was ready to unleash. Without further hesitation, he thrust the energy towards the base below.

A massive beam of white light, as thick as a barrel, shot down, hitting the center of the base.

Boom!!!

The impact was like the collapse of a city or the explosion of a nuclear bomb. A giant mushroom cloud of silver rose hundreds of meters into the sky. The shockwave spread quickly, devastating everything in its path. Houses were swept away, unable to resist even for a moment, completely obliterated.

Felix, high in the sky, coldly observed the devastation, his face expressionless, unbothered by the destruction below.

"If anyone survives, then you're lucky," he murmured quietly, before disappearing into the sky, not interested in witnessing the aftermath.

More than ten minutes later, everything had settled. The base was no more, and there were no signs of life—just a massive, dark bowl-shaped crater, nearly ten kilometers in diameter, where the base had once stood.

Felix had already returned home, his expression calm as if nothing had just happened. There was no trace of emotion, as though the destruction he had caused was just another day's work.

"Hundreds of lives were just lost at my hands, yet I feel no guilt. It seems like my time in this world has truly changed me," he thought, but there was no sense of introspection in his mind. Instead, he simply lay down on the bed, and his soul drifted upward to continue his cultivation.

Meanwhile, in another room, Annie slept, and a tear flickered at the corner of her closed eyes. It seemed she was dreaming of something painful.

...

Time passed quickly, and soon it was morning again. The warm sunlight streamed through the window, casting a soft glow on the sleeping figure on the bed. Annie's eyelids fluttered, and she slowly opened her eyes.

She woke up with tears in her eyes and instinctively wiped them away. Last night, she had dreamed of her late mother again.

However, sleep had allowed her to momentarily forget her –sorrow. Waking up, Annie found that she wasn't as sad as the previous day, even though her thoughts still lingered on her mother.

"Good morning, Felix!"

Annie entered the living room to find Felix already up, lying on the sofa, watching TV. There were some strange-looking items on the table that seemed to be food.

"Good morning, Annie. Your breakfast is on the table. I brought it from China. It's still hot. I hope you like it. If not, I'll go out and buy something else for you," Felix greeted her, gesturing toward the table where soy milk, fritters, and tofu pudding were steaming.
