Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Compromise

" We are an asexual species, fully capable of repopulating ourselves. Just think of the egg laying process as producing more soldiers. "

The Yadd queens explained to us calmly, her domineering figure seemed less....domineering. Rather, she sounded like she was educating her children in a odd sort of way.

" Aren't they any male types who don't lay eggs?" Another person asked

" They are but that would mean you have less of a chance as reaching your full potential which is a queen. The males have limited choices in their evolution " The Yadd queens replied to him.

A brief silence ensued as they all took in the explanation, would they give up on all that power just to maintain some semblance of their identity?

" Well, I don't mind the egg laying part. Should be similar to giving birth but is there a more...humane part of the evolution to go through? " The only female among them suddenly asked, her eyes looking over the Yadd queen who was just....it was an understandable problem.

" There is " The Yadd queen replied.

" Great! Thank you " She replied before grabbing the orbs and turning to dust. It left just four of them.

"Is there a way to take the male path ?" Raer asked this time, while he would be trading the ability to produce his own minions. He saw it as a fair trade, besides there was a strict hierarchy within them.

Laying eggs couldn't be the only way to gain soldiers or there would be far more civil fighting between them. It was even more plausible considering the fact that the queen could enter their minds as earlier.

Maybe the males could use a similar method to control other minor ones, sure it might not become as powerful as hers but it should be enough for him. He had his own plans anyway.

" Only if I allow it before you leave " The Yadd queen replied, this was enough for Raer as he smiled briefly.

" But I will not " She suddenly said quickly destroying his young hopes.

" What! Why? " Someone else asked surprised.

" I will not allow my champions to handicape themselves and be at a disadvantage against the others races. " She said.

" Races? " someone asked confused.

" How many other races are also summoning champions ?" Raer asked.

The Yadd queen did not answer but simply stared down at them, that reaction was not something to take lightly.

" Then we'll take the death option " someone said.

" Speak for yourself " Another suddenly spoke out.

Raer looked back and seriously considered also going with the death option, he was already sacrificing his human body. He really didn't want to start laying eggs now, imagine what the old man would think back home.

" You would choose an option of death rather than accept the chance of glory! " The Yadd queen suddenly boomed, causing the ground beneath them to begin vibrating.

They all lowered themselves instinctively in fear, shutting their mouths and waiting for her to calm down.

" What good will this little identity do you, the other champions will simply slaughter you all " It said, anger seeping into its voice.

" Or we will kill them first, you already have enough queens. We can be the once who will strike them while they are still young....My Queen " One of the humans began speaking.

" What you see is the long game but think about the short game, I assume that the other races know you will be choosing champions and they will try to kill them " He began.

" What use is a queen if it doesn't reach its full growth? Certainly the males must play a part in these areas " He said, never looking up into the eyes of the Yadd queen.

She remained silent for a while before answering him.

" The males are built for war, they are suited to lead other of our kind in battles. However, in limited numbers "

" Then just see this as a strategic play by your hand, in exchange for allowing us to be reborn as male forms. We will work to hamper the growth of the other races, even if one of us goes rogue...I'm sure the Queens can bring us under control. " He continued, trying to convince her in a desperate tone.

" Very well, i assume you all are fine with this? " She asked, and each of them offered nods of agreement to her.

" Granted, now leave " she said with a growl, they could tell that they had already pushed far enough and so place their hands upon the orbs...except it wasn't quite like the others.

They didn't turn to dust but rather got swallowed into it, it broke their bodies one at a time as the little orbs swallowed them.

Raer screamed inwardly at the pain unable to mutter a sounds outwardly, tears flowed from his eyes as he looked towards the Yadd queen. It was smiling, it fucking tricked them.

Just as he wanted to rage out against it, he was squished, crumpled and swallowed by the orb before it itself turned to dust.

" They did well " One of the soldiers said suddenly, breaking the silence in the room.

" Yes, it is unfortunate that there were just 5 of them in this batch. "

" My Queen, the last one had just 3 " The soldier replied, which got a low growl from the Yadd Queen.

" Let's just hope they truly won't betray us, it won't end well for them "

In the dark crevices of a cave stood a young boy, clothed in dark robes and a mask covering the entirety of his face.

Before him was a myriad drawings, each a part of the makings to a circle. Red in color from the corpses of peasants and insulting to the pure nature of Magic.

The boy held a book with his right hand, his hands shivering in fear and anxiousness. He was going to do it, there was no other way.

He looked at the pages of the books, dark words written into it. Each word filled with a power that could be felt within one's soul.

" I am damned already, might as well make use of it. " The boy spoke to the air, trying to ease his nerves and convinces his fearful find.

He took in a deep breathe and then bit the thumb of his fingers deep enough for blood to come gushing out of it. He reached for the circle and allowed his blood to fall upon it.

" Arise! Great Beast of Chaos. Arise! The unfaithful Devourer. Arise! Arise and Heed my calling. " The boy said aloud with fervor, each word mixed with pain and hate.

Each call brought memories of regret and utter chaos. He hated them all, he hated them with all his heart and mind.

The drawings shimmered for a brief seconds as the middle in the circle seemed to phase in and out of existence. Then particles of light began to appear, creating the outline of something he couldn't recognise.

But it was coming and it meant that it was time for the next spell. A binding ritual to ensure his control over the beast.

Quickly he recklessly flicked the pages of the book, smiling at the success of the ritual. The particles still gathered towards the circle and the physical half of the thing being summoned had already manifested.

With the binding page opened, he screamed the words of a blood pact to the beast that was being summoned.

" Ithca Dinb, evres ym lliw. Oblivion tsefinam " He said and quickly found himself being drawn closer and closer to the circle.

He resisted, feeling his energy being drained far quicker than he had ever imagined. It pained him, it was killing him.

" Wa-wait, Stop!! " He screamed in vain and his eyes grew watery and blurry.

The particles moved faster and faster, the body of the boy drew closer and closer. Then it all just stopped, like cutting the middle of a rope being drawn from but sides.

The boy fell upon the ground, his unconscious body twitching in pain. The circle was broken with nothing but an egg in the middle.
