Chapter 168 - chapter 167

"hmm...okay I'll just do as he says then..."

And so for the next few hours of the day Hou and his classmates of tier one simple observed. They used their intuition and gained whatever knowledge the gained and passed it to Master Sheng who gave them new items to look at.

Throughout it, Hou actually gained some new feeling towards his quasi-Nascent Soul. He gained a stronger understanding of the intuition and control over it.

Before it felt off and foreign since it was foreign, it was off. The quasi-Nascent Soul was formed very recent ly, and he did not get long to use it. He was working things out himself.

Nobody else but Sovereign Sky himself had ever formed a Nascent Soul. Even at only a quasi level, it was something unique he had to figure out himself.

While doing so, he found that the intuition could be strengthened by playing into whatever he was looking at.

Like with the griffin, if he really imagined himself as the griffin. Fully immersing himself into that role, then the essence would be strengthened and he could understand more.

"And that is the lesson for today. I will leave you all one last piece of homework for tomorrow."

Master Sheng then stood up from his seat and took out something from behind his pedestal. Then he held them out in front of him,

"Take one each as you leave. Take a good look at it today and report back tomorrow. Tell me what you find. If any of you get 'it' then you may have anything reasonable as a reward."

"...anything" Tianmo muttered under his breath as he jumped up. He was the first to jog out and take the item.

Hou was next and h picked the item up. It was a bronze cube which was cold to the touch.

As Hou touched the metal, it seemed to drain him of all his heat. His hand became freezing cold but still he kept it and even circulated heat laws yet his hands remained cold.

He nodded to Master Sheng then opened the door after Tianmo. And just like that he turned into a cloud of blood which shot off back to his room.

Hou saw the world shift and zip by as he flew too fast to comprehend anything in its entirety. He formed back into his room still holding the metal cube.

"What is this...?"

Hou held the cube in his hands while still circulating the heat. Feeling it become cold and start to even hurt. He saw frost starting to form over his fingers, burning cold. Even more so, it seems his Celestial Law Amplifying Physique was working and making it worse, amplifying it's effects; only mitigated by his quick heat laws.

Quickly, he threw the cold cube down onto a table and felt his hand instantly warm up. Hou looked at the cube, even hovering his hand over it, and saw that it did not become cold.

"Does it only become cold when I touch it? Is it since I shouldn't be holding it, only using intuition....smart, as I should expect though from Master Sheng."

Hou fell down onto his bed and held his hand over his eyes. He was feeling exhausted from such in depth using of his consciousness and intuition.

On the other side of the mansion, Tianmo flew through the air as a mist of blood and went through his keyhole and formed back again.

He threw of his mask, showing off his massive scar. His entire moth was scared deeply and was horrific to look at. He stared at the cub and then threw it into the air.

He shook his hand and then sand came out of his robes and formed hand which caught the cube. He walked around it,

"What are you? I need that reward... I will find everything there is to be about you. Then..."

He touched his mouth and then winced,

"I'll get back to the main branch...."

He crushed his hand and the sand hand followed, crushing the cube, forming around the hard metal cube; like a mould.

Tianmo then sat down and threw out a few hand sigils and surrounded the cube with his sand in different circles.

He began investigating the cube. From it's original to it's material, to anything hidden within the real structure.

After Hou left, the next was Hamar who was having trouble and was still on the first feather task. As he walked past Master Sheng he rubbed his head,

"Is it fine if I just take this haha"

Master Sheng shook his head,

"Okay...but don't be afraid to ask for anything. Try your hardest always."

"Of course, I will make sure to."

And so Hamar walked past without grabbing the cube. He was a swordsman and so did not have the same techniques and foundation as cultivators.

This was an especially strong issue with Master Sheng since he focuses on the basics which is where Hamar differs.

He was starting to see sparks of intuition though. He still ha d a soul and had ways to investigate but he did not use intuition. He used aura, but to follow Master Sheng he was training his intuition.

He actually had an idea in class about combining his aura spreading investigation with intuition. But that was for when he learned it I really use the intuition first, right now he could not control it.

Then after Hamar left, Lan Qiang stood up and took his cube. Feeling the cold he quickly ran over to the door so he could turn into blood and so therefore not feel the cold.

As he did Master Sheng noticed his quick thinking and muttered under his breath,

"Very good. Basic but he's smart and works hard..."

And finally it was Jin who didn't stand up but lazily slouched in her chair. Then she sighed and talked to Master Sheng,

"Dad, do you do this every time. I don't need to do this, you know I know what's inside the puzzle cube."

Master Sheng walked over and placed the cube into her desk with a thud,

"Then try. If you are so sure you can do it, try."
