The flowers didn't last long. The very next day, they already were quite a sorry sight. Too wilted to make a good decoration in a vase, and not suitable for drying either. Well, that was to be expected after the rough treatment Kade had put them through.
Still, Felix changed the water in the glass, and kept the bouquet on the counter for a little longer. Why, he didn't know himself, nor did he even stop to think about it. He just let it be, until a few more days later, the roses became completely limp, hanging sadly over the rim of the glass. At that point, there was nothing he could do, other than throw them away.
However, while the roses might have faded away, the memory of the kiss on the porch did not. It stuck on the top of Felix's mind so stubbornly, that even printing it out and plastering it to the walls all around the house wouldn't make it any more obvious.
