Chapter 58
Finn and I walked aboard the first ship that we found headed towards the Imperial City. As we climbed onto the deck, the wood creaked with every step we took. It was a kind of ominous groan that didn't exactly inspire confidence in me about the ship's capability to get us to our destination in one piece. The sea air was sharp, mingled with the scent of old, damp ropes and salt. A scruffy-looking man with a crooked smile stood at the bow, his coat frayed at the edges, and an odd hat perched on his head.
We walked towards the man and introduced ourselves, giving away nothing but our names.
"Welcome aboard. This beauty here's The Certain Death," he said, patting the ship's railing like it was a pet dog."And we're delighted to have you on this journey with us."
I blinked. "You named your ship the Certain Death?"
