Chapter 32 - Stamford Research Lab Part-2

The footage started in Mrs. Hauston's POV. The armour was deploying around her, a sleek blue one, made for speed and stealth. She looked around, the other scientists were cowering behind a table behind her.

"Don't come out unless I say so," she said to them.

She turned to face ahead again, they were at the corner of a large hall, inside which a lot of computers were arranged, on at the time, suggesting the attack came suddenly. The door was open and the guards were engaging someone outside the gate from the inside, taking cover behind the tables.

"THEY USED JAMMERS DAMMIT, KEEP THEM ENGAGED UNTIL WE FIND A WAY TO CONTACT THE POLICE OR MILITARY," someone shouted through the announcement speakers.

The sound of bullets was deafening, a few officers got shot and died on the spot. A few more officers walked into the room from the right providing more cover fire. They began to march forward while shooting, suggesting they were pushing the terrorists back.

A sound of relieved sighs sounded from the back, which instantly turned into a shocked gasp, after all what came next was something no one expected.

The officers had reached the door meaning they had pushed back the attackers, until they froze in place, the person in front who had reached the door was lifted off his feet, suspended by a big blade, that was pierced right through his chest. Blood splattered everywhere.

Whoever, or whatever was wielding that blade, jerked his arm to the left, smashing the officer's body into the wall, there was a nasty crack and his skull broke apart, blood pooling around him.

"Argggh!" the officers shouted, before retreating behind the tables.

Slowly the figure entered the hall, Jack felt the goosebumps all over his body, it was an automaton suit, like the doctor's but instead of machine guns it wielded blades and a plasma railgun.

It was faster as well, it walked forth swiftly, the officers broke into a run to take cover behind a large table at the very back. The robot smashed through tables and computers, sent some flying over the place.

Mrs. Hauston's suit had two types of weapons, blades and Kana guns. There were wheels at the base of her feet, a small propulsion system on the back as well for extra speed.

"Stay quiet," she said before drawing out her weapons.

She spread out her left palm, the armour plates enclosed her palm before continuing further, forming a shining blue blade. She curled her right palm into a fist, the armour spread forth, covered her fist, before flattening out at the end, leaving out two narrow cavities at the end, forming the Kana rifle.

She dashed to her left, speeding over the wall, when she reached the far corner she shot the robot drawing his attention. She dashed up, running on the roof she continued to shoot at him, faint red energy bullets came out of the gun, exploding upon contact, though it didn't do much damage, as the Kadestone body of the robot absorbed most of the exploding Kana energy.

She continued to circle around him on the roof with great speed, like a hawk circling on its prey. The man charged the railgun, the weapon lit up getting ready to bring destruction.

Boom!!

He shot at her, who dodged it shortly, the energy bullet shot beside her shoulder, blasting a hole into the roof, resulting in a giant hole, rubble came crashing down resulting in a dust screen.

"Tracking heat signatures," a voice said inside the helmet, there was the man in front, who most likely could see her heat signatures as well, however she used this chance to go back to the officers.

"Listen guards, there are some remaining scientists, about fifty or something, they are taking cover behind the 78th table, there on the far right corner, take them and go inside the documents room. I will provide you cover," she ordered, helping two guards on their feet.

"But Miss what about you?"

"I will come in a minute, that's all the time I need to eliminate him," she said. "Now go."

The officers nodded and started to run towards the scientists, Mrs. Hauston lifted the giant table in front of her with her psychic Ikanami and yanked it at the robot.

Whiiirrrrrr! Boom!

The railgun struck again, blasting through the table, blasting it to pieces before making another hole in the roof.

The dust settled, the railgun was ready to fire again, and he wasted no time. Neither did Mrs. Hauston.

The target in her visor locked onto the railgun, the arm auto-aimed to it. Mrs. Hauston used her Ikanami to hold the railgun steady in place.

The inside of the gun glowed red as superheated plasma began to gather inside it. She didn't waste a second. A second before the man took the shot, she did too.

The three orbs of energy met each other inside the muzzle of the railgun, which blasted apart, taking away the man's hand with the explosion as well. A stream of blood flowed down from the shoulder, which pooled beneath the groaning man.

She dashed forth, lifting multiple tables and throwing them at him. The automaton suit, sensing lack of user movement and impending danger, started acting on its own, tearing apart through the tables with the help of the blade.

She dashed to the man, both of her hands made into blades. She stretched one hand in front of her as she dashed, aiming for his neck. But the suit parried it. She retracted her other blade, her hand came free and she grabbed the man's blade with her hand.

She struck again, aiming for the small cavity in the elbow joint of the robot. She drove through, piercing through the man's elbow in the process as well. She turned the blade around, eliciting a scream of pain from the man and sparks from the robot's elbow as she broke away the wires, and the arm powered down.

She withdrew the blade. The arm now dangled powerlessly at his side. She retracted both of her blades, grabbed the shoulder plates of the robot, and tore apart the metal casing, revealing the man who turned slowly to her, his eyes livid with fear.

He was around the same age as Jack, probably a bit older. She noticed it too, her arm trembled subtly, as she was reminded of her son. She took aim at the man's head again.

"This is for the officers you killed there," she said before shooting his head into smithereens.

She turned back again and decided to check outside first.

She turned and ran outside in an instant. The outside was littered with dead bodies, both human and Kratian. Stamford Research Centre was a research lab. Both human and Kratian scientists met up there to conduct research.

Suddenly, there was a noise on her left. Before she could do anything, there was a boom as something big hit her, with a force that sent her flying across the hall and smashing against the wall at the back, disappearing behind a cloud of dust.

The blow was so powerful, it shattered the front of the armour. She slowly got back on her feet as the armour started to repair itself.

It got my shoulder, shit she groaned as she looked at her left hand. The bones were completely shattered, and it dangled lifelessly at her side, the armour slowly covering it again.

There was a loud screech from her front, which sent shivers down the spine of Ethan and Jack, who were watching it. She froze, her body shivered with fear. Another scream from the front jolted her back to her senses and she quickly dashed towards the document vault room, where she had asked everyone to gather.

"Something's coming. Something big and scary..." she said as she opened her item pouch. Thankfully, the armour seemed to read her mental activity, operating as an exoskeleton for her left arm. "Get inside," she huffed as she placed the portal door she took out from the item pouch.

She placed the portal door in the knee space of the counter and urged everyone inside before entering.

"That's where the footage ends, meaning she retracted her armour afterwards. Let's hope she is okay. I feel so frustrated, all I can do is get her coordinates from the Kana network. Without registering her Kana signature, we can't contact her," Ethan said, his fists clenching.

"Did you find her coordinates?" Jack asked. He was breaking apart inside. All he wanted right now was to get her location, get in the car, tear down the whole research centre if he had to, kill as many terrorists as he needed to just to save her.

"I did. I have been looking at them since last night. She comes out and roams the place sometimes, probably scouting for an escape route," Ethan sighed as he turned his chair around to face Jack.

"Enak, think you can link with her? There must be some privilege only you must have considering you are the king's armour," he said out loud.

"I sure can, lemme get the necessary info," Enak said, appearing on Jack's shoulder. A glistening black mass of tendrils appeared around Jack's arm.

Jack placed his hands on the computer. Enak's tendrils covered the computer and he began to gather the information.

"That guy never ceases to scare and amaze me at the same time," Ethan gasped as he looked at Enak rummaging through his computer.

"Let's hope you are not making fun of me. I can very well download some stuff on your computer and play it, pretending that I just found it there," Enak whispered into Ethan's ears as his glistening form made its way to his head.

"Let's not do that, sir," Ethan said, like an officer addressing his superior.

"What did you say to him?" Jack said, chuckling at their exchange.

"Just introducing myself," Enak said, his voice teasing. "Found it. Ethan, was it? You're operating the Kana network quite well. I can access and control any Kana network channel out there. Your version is good. I will change some stuff on it later by myself."

"Nice. So did you find her Kana signature?" Jack asked.

"That's what I remember saying, young master," Enak said.

"So what are you waiting for? Link me to my mother right now," Jack said, a hint of nervousness and desperation in his voice.

"Linking to the princess, complete. You may converse now."

"Mom?" Jack said slowly, his voice trembling.
